This wonderful story is an examination on how one tragedy can spread out and affect the lives of so many on a personal level. The story grabbed me right from the beginning and was gripping all the way through. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an advanced copy of this audiobook.

The narration of the audiobook was stunning. The prose flowed and carried the story through multiple voices, each with its own distinct tone and personality. I was carried away by the story and am so glad I was able to experience it on audio. I'd say I enjoyed the story even more because of it. It is beautifully told.

This is the story of a boy who goes missing in 1985 - the year Back to the Future was released - while playing in a field under his brother's care. When his jacket is suddenly recovered, another media storm ensues. The pace is slow but full of emotion. There’s no shock ending, although it is resolved.

But this isn't just the story of his disappearance; it's a profound exploration into the lives of four people who were forever changed by the events. Told through multiple perspectives, the reader is taken on an emotional journey of love, hope and redemption.

Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this audiobook until about 2 hours from the end. I feel like the momentum toward the ending fell flat, and that stinks. I don't think there was a shock like I was hoping. That is on me, not the author, for automatically assuming there would be more excitement though.

I will say, I really loved ALL the different character perspectives and adding in flashbacks could have made the story a hot mess, but it was done in a way that wasn't confusing, which is a huge plus. I really really enjoyed how this book was written and the narration was fantastic.

This cast of narrators is off the charts! I am a huge fan of Cassandra Campbell, who did a wonderful job narrating, as always. I also really enjoyed listening to George Newbern, Kirby Heyborne, Jane Oppenheimer, MacLeod Andrews, and Renata Friedman. The narrators did an excellent job narrating each character. They were all easy to understand with easy to listen voices. 5 stars for the narrators.

As a mother, I did not love the idea behind the story, but the story was written very well. I wanted to keep listening, and I was hopeful for some sort of happy ending. The ending surprised me, as I did not see that coming. A lot of the characters held a lot of guilt, and it was a very heavy listen.

It was a well written book with an A+ group of narrators. I am not "in love" with the book because of the storyline, but it was a good book. I appreciated the recognition given to all the unsolved missing children cases (so trajoic.

while this book is centered on davy’s disappearance, we experience the story through the POV’s of the people closest to him and profoundly impacted by his disappearance. his mother, his brother, the girl who was with davy that fateful night, and the man accused. also sprinkled in are flashback chapters that fully explain the events of the night he went missing. it feels like a character study on each of the 4 POV’s and we get to witness their growth and see them experience some closure when the mystery is finally solved.

big pro to this audiobook - full cast narration. i absolutely appreciate when each character has their own voice. it adds so much depth to the audiobook experience so this was a thumbs up for me!

i did find myself longing for some crazy ending but as i’ve reflected on the book, i’m realizing that a crazy ending wasn’t necessary. it’s almost more heartbreaking how the story came to a close. makes it feel less like fiction and more like real life because not every life experience has some bomb dropping ending. you’ll have to read to find out ;)

love love loved the name of the town - “wynotte” pronounced “why not”. for some reason i giggled when i realized that was how it was pronounced.

thank you NetGalley and Harper Muse for the audiobook!

The setting of this book felt like my hometown. I grew up playing night games in corn fields like the young boy in this book who goes missing. Twenty years later a new piece of evidence is found and everyone is taken back to that horrible night.

I enjoyed the multiple points of view and different narrators for each. I consumed this audiobook in one day. I couldn’t stop. It is that good!

I love a good audiobook and this one was great. The many narrators were ALL great in performing the characters.
I was glued to this story.
I read a lot of thriller and am suspicious of the many characters. I knew a couple were guilt of ‘something’ but I also know the most obvious never - whodunit.

The Marybeth Mayhew Whalen tells us in her ‘Author Notes’ that she was inspired to write this story actually many years ago when she saw two movies with a similar plot. She kept the idea on the ‘back burner; as she wanted to tell the story and be sensitive to the feelings especially of the mother.
I believe she did a good job and this audiobook was spot on!

Want to thank NetGalley and HarperCollins Focus/Harper Muse and for this outstanding audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for October 1, 2024.

This is a sad and heavy story about how profoundly the character’s lives are all changed by the disappearance of Davy. The story grabbed me right from the beginning and was gripping all the way through. The characters are well developed and the performance on audio by a full cast is excellent. I thought the author did a great job with the conclusion of Davy’s disappearance and there were some bittersweet yet hopeful changes for the characters. I highly recommend this one.

Every Moment Since by Whalen was interesting from the view of the family left behind after a child goes missing. I thought it was okay.

Wow. This is a great book. Touching without being sappy. Fantastic writing. I enjoyed the use of different p.o.v.’s to tell the story, along with the different periods of time. Whalen did a beautiful job of creating dynamic characters; they had more depth to them than the typical thriller books I read. This was my first book by Whalen and I’m going to check out her earlier works.

I had gone into this one not really knowing anything much about the book and I’m glad I did. This way I could just let the story sweep me away. It was emotional, captivating, funny at times and overall just a great read. You got to feel for and with each character. The different perspectives added a depth to the story that I wouldn’t have wanted to miss.

What I really enjoyed about the audiobook were the multiple narrators. They each did a fantastic job, giving a soul to the characters. It also helped keeping track of which character was telling their part of the story which can get tricky at times when listening to audiobooks.

This was such a good one! Honestly from the first few chapters I was hooked. I listened to the audio of this book & I absolutely loved all the different narrators. Cassandra Campbell, George Newbern, Kirby Heyborne, Jane Oppenheimer, MacLeod Andrews, & Renata Friedman all did such a great job!

I really enjoyed having 4 POVs & some of the flashbacks. At first I thought the POVs would be hard to follow, but they really weren’t & I enjoyed the different perspectives. This was a really great story from a families perspective of what they really might be feeling & going through when they have a child go missing. It definitely hit me in the feels a few times as a mother. Marybeth did a great job of setting the scene & I loved finding out bits of what actually happened as the book went on.

Plus I always love a book set in NC❤️

Would definitely recommend adding it to your TBR!

Thank you to #netgalley and Harper Collins for the chance to read this ARC and give my honest opinion.

Four lives are changed forever when a little boy goes missing. Two decades later they come back together as a discovery may lead to the truth of what happened to Davey Malcor. This book follows his mother, Tabitha. His brother, Thaddeus who has since written a memoir about Davey's disappearance. Gordon Swift the man who has been accused and acquitted for being the one to kidnap him. And Anissa, the little girl who met her new best friend and lost him in the same day. She was the last person to see him alive twenty years ago and now she's the public information officer on his case as it gets reopened.

This book was hauntingly beautiful. It not only changes point of views but goes back and forth between now and what happened when Davey goes missing. Marybeth Whalen had me on the hook throughout the book waiting for answers like I was a part of Davey's family. Though this book is fiction, in the beginning the author notes that this book is dedicated to a handful of people who actually went missing. You could tell she really did her best to do it justice and make the story real. The narrators were fantastic and switched between female and male and you could clearly tell who was speaking in the chapter based on the voices they did for each character.

Even though the subject is tough this was a quick and easy read/listen and I highly recommend this for anyone who loves a mystery. According to my netgalley this releases September 30th.

Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins Focus | Harper Muse, Marybeth Mayhew Whalen, for this ARC of “Every Moment Since” out October 1, 2024

I was instantly intrigued by this book from the prologue. I’ve enjoyed true crime and have listened to lots of podcasts. At the beginning, Marybeth Maybew Whalen dedicated this book to a few boys who went missing. Jacob Wetterling was one of them who went missing in 1989. I am very familiar with his story and felt like she did a great job bringing many aspects of that horrific incident to life. There were multiple perspectives and timelines but it was easy to follow. This was a slow burn story about a missing boy and everyone who wants to find out what happened to him.

For fans of All Good People Here & Wrong Place, Wrong Time comes Marybeth Mayhew Whalen's newest suspense, Every Moment Since. This book is a slow-burn mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end. The characters are well-developed and your heart aches for those affected by this tragedy. With a full cast of audiobook narrators, it really feels like a true crime podcast.

I loved how we had the opportunity to feel all the feels of those affected by Davey's tragedy. Whalen also introduces several characters that will keep you questioning your whodunnit hypotheses as the book progresses.

Each narrator does an exceptional job with the task at hand—bringing these characters to life.

I highly, highly recommend.

4 stars.*

This is the second book I've ready by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen. I liked this one much more than the first.

It is the story of a little boy who went missing 25 years ago on a night when kids were playing games in the fields and parents still left home with just a neighbor kid to look after the little ones.

It is the story of the surviving siblings of a child who never came home, the parents whose suffering outlived their marriage, and the story of a man accused who could not escape suspicion.

I liked how this one played out. Highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collin’s focus for the opportunity to read this arc.

First of all this book hooks you from the start and never lets go. I was so engrossed I listened to this in one sitting.

Davy Malcor disappears without a trace over 20 years ago and no one knows what happened to him to this day. There are a lot of theories, some say he is grown living another life and some say he was murdered, but no one knows the truth… or do they? The case has been cold for some time now but when a new piece of evidence is discovered and it is reopened and the family is having to revisit old wounds in hopes to finally have answers.

The suspense will have you on the edge of your seat as you read the story told from multiple POVs to try to find out what really happened to Davy. I did not guess the ending at all and I loved that!

This book is about a terrifying story of a missing boy. What I liked most about the book was the format in which it is written. The story is written in the present day timeline. This is the second audio book that I have listened to, and I am glad I decided to give this one a try. Normally, I am not huge into audio books because they don't hold my attention as well as a physical book was. I get too distracted and easily find myself not paying attention.

This book had be captivated from the start. I really enjoyed the narration and the way this book was written. The way this author writes really makes you feel as though you are in the story with the characters, everything seems so real and it's almost like you can reach out and touch the things around you and physically speak with the characters.

What a breath of fresh air that this author is! Will be looking for this in a paperback version.
