I have not had this much fun reading a book in a while. Kimberly Lemming is the queen of silly and raunchy fantasy/sci-fi romance, and this book continues to prove that. Every character in this book had a distinct voice and look in my head and the settings were laid out so vibrantly and full of life- as if I were watching a gorgeously animated movie with a two heaping handfuls of spice. I fell in love with Sol immediately, and as an animal nerd, Dory was the perfect protagonist for me. The characters' personalities were so strong and so charming, I also really loved (or loved to hate) the antagonists in the story. I can absolutely see myself coming back to this book again and again in the future.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital arc! If you’re in the mood for a playful and lusty time, go ahead and pick this book up. There are pink dinosaurs, lions, aliens and 10 other things that are fever dream material. The start of the book took me by surprise at first. I didn’t entirely realize what I was getting myself into (although, the cover really says it all lol). And I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a book for me. I finally just went with and enjoyed joining Dory on her weird as* adventure.
My advice is to turn your brain off, your libido on and enjoy the ride.

Ok, so I need to start off by saying that I loved this author's first series 'That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon', and this book definitely has the same kind of humor Kimberly Lemming's is known for. I also enjoy the 'Ice Planet Barbarians' series and this book definitely reminded me a bit of those. However, instead of being stranded on an Ice Planet, the human main character Dorothy is kidnapped by Owl Aliens and planted on a Jurassic Park Planet in order to mate with hot Faun Alien doods who have also been kidnapped from their own planet... that was destroyed... in order to continue their race -the events that lead to this are all explained in the book lol. Then there are the love interests: Lok and Sol, one is a hunky, swaggering warrior, the other is a smarty-pants emo boy. Did I mention this is a throuple romance and not a love triangle? Also there is a hilarious talking lion animal companion. All in all this sounds like a great time, however... I didn't love it. There were a lot of moving parts to the plot that I thought were a bit all over the place, especially the King Osid plot. I also wasn't a fan of the spice scenes, they were very explicit, very early on in the book. The characters all met less than 24 hours before any real romance could be developed and it kind of gave me the ick. This is def a personal preference, so if you read a lot of spicy/smut romance, this might not bother you. This was explained by a "forced mating bond" storyline (similar to 'Ice Planet Barbarians'), but it still felt over the top to me. I probably won't continue this series, and hope that Lemmings' returns to her 'Mead Mishaps' series in the future.

This was my first Kimberly Lemming book and oh my god she’s so funny and quirky! I enjoyed the fast pace of this one and most of the time had no clue what was going on because it was so wild. This is like a why choose wizard of oz journey but with aliens and you know what? It was hot 🙂‍↕️

As much as I liked the fast pace, it was a bit too insta-lovey for me and I wish there was more development between the characters. I’m not sure if this one was a favorite of mine in this specific genre, but it was alright and would recommend to anyone who enjoys some monster romance hehehe

Thank you Berkley and NetGalley for the arch in exchange for my honest review!

The blend of laugh-out-loud moments, steamy tension, and unique world-building make this book a perfect escape for anyone who loves a romantic adventure with a side of humor. It’s a fast-paced, chaotic ride that’s impossible to put down, packed with charm, banter, and a ton of unexpected heat. I highly enjoyed reading it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Mead Mishaps series and was greatly anticipating this read. Though it is along the same lines, this is not another installment in that series. Please know that going in.

The beginning of this book was odd and hard to follow, however the entirety on the novel kind of felt like a fever dream. Once you get your bearings on what the actual hell is going on, things just continue to get weirder and weirder. All beliefs must be suspended for this novel. However, I will say this was the first polyamorous relationship I have read about that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Overall, this was a bit more outlandish and kookie than Lemmings previous series, but I was fully along for the ride, appreciated the bold decision to create this world, and would read the next book.

I was excited to receive this advanced reader copy from Netgalley. The Mead Mishaps books have been a blast with their campy blend of medieval fantasy with disregard to historical accuracy. While the modern language threw me off at first, I have long been won over by the fun stories with great characters. I was looking forward to the author's first alien romance, which often gets campy (the genre almost cannot help itself). Plus, the author just became traditionally published (good for her) so I was excited to see what we would get.

Well, I am sad to say that what we got was not good. This is like a book written after you get a traditional publishing contract and you have no idea what to write but you're on a deadline. Plus, your publisher doesn't provide any additional support so you sit down to do a stream of consciousness and get it published as soon as possible to cash in on all the fans you brought in on your own, before you had a publisher behind you.

Ya, this book is like it was written in one sitting with a prompt and no one edited it to make sure the story made sense.

I had to stop after 20% in because my eyes were rolling and I just could not. In honor of not providing spoilers, but still ranting, here are some ridiculous things I don't understand. Why wasn't she provided with a development editor to help make the story better than a stream of consciousness?

1. The heroine doesn't seem as smart as I would expect from a PhD candidate focused on animals. She fights and kills what she doesn't understand, puts herself in unsafe situations, and generally is chaotic.

2. The worldbuilding makes absolutely no sense. The heroine is working on her dissertation by laying in the Kalahari desert where she gets attacked and almost killed by a lion. There is no way she's alone filming and talking on the phone while working in an area that is so unsafe. Also, she can talk/understand different languages by exchanging saliva with another being (this includes animals as well as humanoids). Let's also mention the idea that her phone still has battery life and she uses it to do a "captain's log" and take selfies... while on an alien planet. 🙄

There were so many things that were like listening to someone explain a crazy dream: disjointed, chaotic, nonsensical. Ugh. I am so disappointed.

I really don't have the patience to make it through this book.

I have never read anything by this author before, but I really enjoyed reading this book. The pacing was good and the character's were developed very well.

I absolutely love Kimberly lemming and this book is just as great as her mead and mishap books! She is so funny in her writing, but also has a good balance of spice and story. Loved every minute of it!

Okay so this book is not my normal. I haven’t read alien smut in a long time (I’m looking at you IPB) but this was a nice refresher. Oh, plus there are dinosaurs and a lion sidekick. What’s not to love. Dory also has two alien mates. Perfect. This book was hilarious and steamy. Like it was so funny, and just when you got a break from laughing, it happens again. I haven’t laughed this much during a romcom in a long time and it was fantastic. I don’t read many books with knotting but here we are, and I enjoyed it. My husband heard me gasp at one of the scenes and then I had to describe it to him, which was entertaining as well. He said there are some things he’d rather not know, but I had fun sharing! The spice scenes were hot, hot, hot, who knew that aliens could be so much fun? Not me. I am so excited that this is a new series, because it is so good and I need more of them in my life.

If you’re looking for a hilarious romcom with aliens, dinosaurs, and a lion, then you need to check this one out. Trust me, it works.

Kimberly Lemming does it again!

I got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com is a super fun MMF throuple alien romance about a Black woman who gets abducted and taken to another planet.

If you are a fan of Ice Planet Barbarians but prefer a MC with birth control and no desire for babies... you will LOVE this. It gave me everything I would've wanted but never got from IPB.

This is silly and sexy and out of control but also sweet. I laughed out loud multiple times and can't wait to keep going in the series.

*Thank you to Berkley and Netgalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I Got Abducted by Aliens by Kimberly Lemming was a true surprise for me! I love a good romance now and then, but I’m usually in it for the slow burn and the yearning. But this? It was fast-paced and off the rails. And guess what? All I wanted was more. One alien? Not enough—give me another. Hungry lion? Why not throw in a lioness? T-rex? How about making it hot pink? If you thought it was crazy, it just gets crazier.

I couldn’t see anything coming besides them getting together in less than a few chapters. I don’t think it’ll be for everyone, especially with certain tropes, but if you're just here for a fun time, then read away!

Kimberly Lemming is the master of the ridiculously fun rom-com. Just like the last series, this was a fun time. This one is a laugh out loud great read, and I can't wait to see what else she will be writing.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy!! I loved the Mead Mishaps adventures and this has the same vibe and energy that one did. This is just a fun romp in a scifi land with ridiculous characters that are just a bunch of fun.

Only Kimberly could write a 5 star book that has, a talking lion, a pink dinosaur, owl aliens, alien mates, a giant frog, and an engaging plot with incredibly hot spice. LIKE ONLY SHE COULD DO IT I FEAR.

Quite literally devoured this up like I was running out of time to read it. 😋

Thank you Berkley & Netgalley for the ARC!

This was my first book by Kimberly, and I would read more by her. Her humor is what kept me going throughout this book. I laughed so much.

This book was very silly if slightly unhinged, which is not usually a problem for me. I think I just didn’t feel the romance with this one. I kept telling myself I’m taking it too serious, just enjoy the ride, but it still felt lacking to me in the romance area.

Still very open to more books by Kimberly in the future! Loved the writing and the humor, just didn’t vibe with the guys I think. It jumped to spice without any emotional connection for me.

Toto made the entire book lol. The sour birds comments made me giggle every time.

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming is a wildly fun, quirky adventure that blends sci-fi and romance in a way that's both entertaining and absurd. Lemming’s sense of humor shines through in the book, with witty dialogue and over-the-top scenarios that keep the tone light and playful throughout. While the premise is certainly original and brimming with potential, the plot can sometimes feel chaotic, with some storylines and character motivations feeling underdeveloped or implausible. The romantic subplot, though endearing, follows predictable tropes, and it could benefit from deeper emotional stakes to make the characters' connection more meaningful. Nevertheless, the book is a delightful romp for readers who enjoy a mix of comedy, romance, and sci-fi, even if it doesn't always take itself as seriously as it perhaps could.
