This is my first Kimberly Lemming book even though I have been admiring her covers and titles for a while. This was wildly entertaining! Weird, funny and even cute at times. If you are looking for a book that will keep getting weirder, this is the one. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-book in exchange for an honest review.

✨ An Out-of-This-World Romance That’s Wild, Witty, and Utterly Captivating ✨
At the heart of this tale beats a story of survival, adventure, unexpected family and friendship, and chasing dreams, even across the universe. Dorothy Valentine finds herself abducted by aliens, only to wake up with a talking lion, Toto. Dorothy is the epitome of passion, wit, and resilience, a clever and funny woman who suddenly finds herself entangled with two aliens, Sol and Lok. As they venture forth in their fight for survival and unravel the mysteries of the planet, they find comfort in each other’s existence.
Sol is a classic tsundere, gruff yet soft-hearted, and I found myself swooning over his protectiveness toward Dorothy. Meanwhile, Lok is the typical lover boy, openly affectionate and undeniably sweet, but after all the shocking revelations, he becomes even more intriguing.
I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com is a new world, a new life, and a love beyond imagination. As an anime fan, I found this story incredibly engaging, Kimberly Lemming’s imagination is wild, vibrant, and immersive. Despite being a purely fantastical tale, the world-building felt so surreal, it was like watching an anime unfold before my eyes, isekai meets reverse harem, with a sprinkle of hentai. If you’re a fan of anime, reverse harem, isekai, and even primitive survival stories, you’re going to absolutely love this book!
✨ WHAT I LIKED:
📌 The talking lion, Toto! Loved the friendship between Dorothy and Toto! 🦁
📌 Sol and Lok’s protectiveness toward Dorothy 💕
📌 Blair’s attitude toward King Osid! She was such a badass character! 🔥
📌 DINOSAURS & T-REX! OMG! 🦖
✨TROPES:
📌 Alien Romance
📌 Love Triangle
📌 Grumpy X Sunshine
📌 Fated Mates
📌 Reverse Harem
📌 Cinnamon Roll Love Interest
📌 Incredibly Passionate and Steamy Scenes

“I will admit to being swayed by social media on rare occasions. That’s how I wound up reading the first book in Kimberly Lemming’s Cosmic Chaos series, I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com. Everybody’s talking about it, and I’m glad I joined the conversation … This campy, quirky book set on another alien world is about an abducted throuple of different species falling for each other. But when you delve deeper and your mind gets on board with the suspension of belief from an earth-centric story, this is a fun, sexy story with richly developed characters and smart world building.

Kimberly Lemming never disappoints! This fits perfectly with her chaotic style. There are so many inside jokes. I laughed all the way through it.

2 stars
Kimberly could write about the intricate workings of paper printing, and I’d still eat it up! That’s a testament to how talented and humorous she is as a writer. However, I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com just wasn’t for me.
Despite loving her other books, this one left me feeling a bit disconnected. While others might find it entertaining, I didn’t connect with the story as much as I’d hoped, and it didn’t have the same spark as her previous works for me.
That being said, I know many readers will enjoy the wild, chaotic energy of this book—it just wasn’t the right fit for me.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC copy!

I don't know when I've ever had so much fun reading a book before! I laughed out loud numerous times, to the point where it was almost embarrassing. Kimberly Lemming's sense of humor landed perfectly for me throughout the entire book--I would almost say this is one of the only true rom-coms I've ever read. And I want all of them to be just like this one in the future.

2.5/5
This was unfortunately a little too crazy bonkers for me. I've enjoyed Lemming's other books, but there were a few too many weird things in here and I wasn't a huge fan of the observation/experiment storyline. There were also a few things I wasn't sure about the relationship, but I couldn't really figure out exactly what it was. I did enjoy the characters though, especially Toto.

HILARIOUS!!!! KL has done it again but this time with some Jurassic Park vibes but make it sexy and also aliens and also one 10/10 talking lion bestie. I love how fun and unserious IGABAANITIARC is while also tackling some real feelings/issues. Plus who doesn't love some why choose action (iykyk). Pick this one up for some escapism that packs some heat!

This was a fun ride. Need something quick, hilarious, and spicy? She’s your girl! LOL! The writing and dialogue in this book made me laugh out loud in several occasions. Toto (her friendly lion) was my absolute favorite hands down!
After reading this, I will definitely continue to read Kimberly’s books. It was so refreshing to see someone write something crazy, funny, and original! 4 stars, highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book!

Delightfully filthy and funny, and I could not be more pleased! Truly a complete joy from start to finish.
Dory is almost done with her PhD in wildlife biology when she's attacked by a lion. The next thing she knows, she and her new lion friend have been abducted by aliens. And now they can talk to each other! They manage to board an escape pod, and crash land on an alien planet. There are dinosaurs, and other extinct things, and 2 hot alien guys she can't seem to resist. Honestly, what's a girl to do?!
Dory, Toto the lion, and her 2 guys, Sol and Lok team up to figure things out and explore their new world together. Things are by turns hilarious, adventurous, steamy, and unexpected. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I hope we get to hang out in this world again soon! If you enjoy this author's brand of humor and wit from her prior series, you definitely can't go wrong here!

The Short: I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I'm Trapped In A Rom-Com is a wild ride, and absolutely adventurous romance. Dorothy Valentine is a PhD who gets abducted and dropped on a strange planet and finds out that she's basically been stuck in an alien culture's breeding program.
The Long: This book is hilarious and in a lot of ways feels very different from the Mead Mishaps series. It's hilarious and full of amazing, funny characters and the premise is absolutely wild and fun and there's such a huge variety of animals, beings, and mischief happening in this book. Dory ends up teaming up with two hot aliens, Sol and Lok, and. a talking lion she calls Toto. Together they explore their new planet and try to figure out how they ended up together and what's coming next. It's a super fun read (yes, there's a throuple) and I really enjoyed Lemming's characteristic humor and charm in a whole new setting and take on comedy romance.

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com is something I decided to read on a whim after initially thinking I would pass on reviewing it. I'm really glad I decided to give this one a chance, because it was exactly the sort of book I needed in my life right now. The story was absolutely ridiculous, the logistics felt half-balked and not at all believable, and the romantic elements always seemed to happen randomly and without any natural buildup. However, I will say that it was a lot of fun to read and was very similar to Ice Planet Barbarians . If that's your jam, definitely pick this one up!
Dorothy is a researcher with a sailor's mouth and a stubborn personality. She may have somehow ended up with a talking lion she named Toto (those were the only two Wizard of Oz references I picked up on), but she's not going to let him or two pushy aliens tell her what to do. Never mind that she's on an alien planet with pink dinosaurs or bullfrogs the size of a car, she and her now-friendly lion are going to do what they want, when they want. When their alien abductors (not the pushy ones I previously mentioned) make another appearance, Dorothy (Dory for short) is quick to demand answers. Unfortunately for her, they're very interested in her new relationships and doing what they can to help things develop romantically (non-consensual body modifications and serums that alter someone's brain chemistry).
The author didn't try very hard to make this one believable, so be prepared to suspend any and all disbelief to make it through the story. Spilled alien goop and kissing are apparently all that's needed to get rid of any language barriers one might expect, while also allowing her to speak to lions and another animals. It was such a wild concept — one that wasn't explained very well — and I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head. It was also confusing when the lion or aliens needed clarification on certain "human" words, but were fully capable of saying many others. Lok calling her "gorgeous" and understanding sarcasm and colloquialisms made it hard to fully get on board with the author's reasonings and justifications.
I'm still not sure how we get from A to Z in this book, but it was a really quick read (maybe four hours on my Kindle) and it made me laugh often. Whether it was the ridiculousness of the characters, the situations they found themselves in, or the absurdity of the story itself, I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com was enjoyable for exactly what it was: a subpar, absolutely bananas plot with steamy alien hookups (they have tails and oddly shaped members!).

If Lemming wasn't already an auto-buy author for me, this book definitely cemented her as one. Dorothy, an aspiring wildlife biologist is on the field one day and suddenly finds herself whisked away to an alien planet that has a variety of species - from Earth and otherwise. I loved Dorothy's character and the whole crew that she accumulates. This is my fourth book by Lemming and I've loved it as much as the other three. All of her books are PERFECT for a fun, brain break read where you don't have to think too hard. I love that these books know exactly what they're trying to be, and because of that, they succeed. Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC!

This story was SO FUN. It’s the first alien romance I’ve read and I didn’t really know what to expect but it was so entertaining without being overly cringey. Dory was hilarious and I loved the banter between her, Toto, Sol, and Lok. The spicy scenes were insane but in the best possible way and the plot in between kept me turning the pages too.

Thank you Berkley for my copy! All thoughts are my own.
This was my first alien/monster romance and while I don't think I'll dive more into the subgenre, I really liked the author's humorous writing style. It was entertaining, even if the content is not what I'm usually drawn to. I don't know if I'd recommend this to anyone who reads mostly contemporary romance, but if you've dabbled in omegaverse, ice planet barbarians, or romantasies like ali hazelwood's "bride" you might enjoy it!

This was hard for me to get into but I was completely and utterly hooked by chapter 3. I loved how unique this was aliens abducting people about to die so its less likely to disrupt what they were doing on Earth and families could mourn them and "move on" with their lives.
This also had my favorite fated mates in it. Toto stole the show for me and made me sad I couldn't talk and befriend a lion in real life :)
I also loved that although, this female made reckless decisions she at least weighed the pros and cons and was trying to be selfless in his decisions that risked her life.
This was such a fun ride and felt like coming back home to the writing that made me fall in love with Kimberly's work.

Let me find an alien with a tail!
I loved how funny and yet spicy this was. Another amazing read by Kimberly Lemming.
One thing Kimberly will do is give us banter with a side of love and warmth. It's the perfect light read for when you are needing something to make you laugh.

“Getting a pep talk from a lion was not how I expected my day to go.”

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com
By @kimberlylemming
If you know me, then you know I love an alien romance! 😂 This book was the perfect palate cleanser after Onyx Storm. I absolutely love Toto so much. I don’t normally laugh while reading, but this book had me giggling.

I was very invested in the first quarter of the story. I loved the fun bantering between Dorothy and Toto's. But once the love interests were introduced, the story fell apart. There was so much going on that the narrative got messy. And I quickly lost interest in the romance and the alien aspect of the story. I give this book 2.75/5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the opportunity to review I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming.

dorothy valentine is so close to getting her ph.d. in wildlife biology when, on an expedition, she’s attacked by a lion. instead of dying, she’s rescued…and abducted…by aliens. when dory and the lion escape their captors, they crash-land on an alien planet that has dinosaurs. they’re saved by an alien named sol and later team up with lok, who may or may not be a war criminal. as they explore this new planet and battle prehistoric creatures, dory can’t deny the attraction growing between the three of them.
i was SO excited to hear that kimberly lemming had a new book coming out! i loved the mead mishaps series, and i knew this book would be just as, if not even more, incredible. sure enough, i had a great time reading this. i loved how dory’s passion for wildlife biology flourished on this new planet. i also loved the romance, which is good since this is, after all, a romantic sci-fi/fantasy book. i highly recommend this, and i can’t wait for book two!
