If you know anything about Kimberly Lemming's books, you know that you are in for a whacky good time and crazy hijinks when you pick up one of her stories, and this one continues with that trend. I think you can tell from the title alone if nothing else that this book is going to be wild. I was honestly baffled at the directions this book took the whole way through, and won't go into much detail so as to not spoil because truly reading this and following the storyline was like a rollercoaster ride in and of itself (in a good, wtf am I reading sort of way).

I enjoyed certain aspects of this and didn't care for others, so I settled on a 3 star for this one.

To start with the good:
-In standard Kimberly Lemming fashion, this was hilarious. I laughed out loud multiple times, and I always appreciate that from books.
-This had animal companions, which is a major win for me! A literal talking lion friend named Toto? Where can I get one of my own? Toto was the highlight of this whole book for me, I could not get enough of him.
-Dinosaurs!!!!! 🦖 I don't think I need to elaborate
-This was so fast paced and easy to read. Perfect to pick up any time, but would be great for getting out of a reading slump
-Found family in the form of a rag-tag group of characters exploring this new planet they ended up on

The bad (for me personally--all of this is definitely a matter of personal taste, so take that with a grain of salt):
-There was a ton of spice in here, I felt like it was kind of overkill and took away from the plot
-I'm not a huge fan of why-choose or multiple love interest type of stories, and this had that
-There was a scene in which consent was very questionable, and that's a hard nope for me. There is a trigger warning for this before even starting the book, so I was aware of it going in and chose to read/enjoy the rest of the book anyway, however that was a big turn off for me
-While a lot of the humor worked for me, at points it felt a bit too "lol random" type of humor for me, for lack of better phrasing. It felt at points like how much crazy shit can I pile in just for laughs, not for any real plot reason.

Overall, enjoyed but didn't love and it won't stick out to me as far as books I loved/would constantly recommend. However, if you love Kimberly Lemming (and I know so many, including myself, do), I think you will at least like, if not love this one, so definitely give it a try!

Thank you so much to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review! 👽🦖💜

Holy crap. I was already a fan of Kimberly's books and this one did not disappoint. If you can't tell by the title this is technically a rom-com and in true Kimberly fashion I giggled the entire book. 😂😂😂 if you are down and need a pick me up or just need something to make you laugh do not hesitate to pick this up immediately. I can't wait till everyone gets their hands on it. Definitely reccomending it to my book club. Definitely a 5 star read for me.

Are you a fan of Ice Planet Barbarians but you were thinking I really wish it was a bit more of a romcom, you could have two mates and there was a lion side kick? No? Me either (I mean I am a fan of Ice Planet Barbarians but I would never have thought of this combo) but trust me you want it! This book is a wonderful combination of extremely funny, spicy, and a bit of adventure.

I wasn't expecting this to be a trio but I wasn't mad about it. This one falls somewhere between MFM and MMF. I mean if you are going to end up stranded on an alien planet with dinosaurs you should at least get some good sex out of it, right? There is knotting so if that isn't for you skip this one.

If you love a book that will make you laugh and think wow my day wasn't perfect but at least there were zero huge frogs you need to read this one. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. It is ridiculous in an incredibly fun way and I was exceptionally entertained.

I liked the Mead Mishaps series, so I imagined I would like this one a lot more than I did. It seems I am an outlier in the early readers so far, so please take this as you will. I should say I am not one who seeks out heavy spice. I don’t mind spice but I want it centered around good characters and some plot or story. This one did not have that. It also doesn’t help that it has my least favorite trope, forced mating with drug alteration (which feels non consensual to me). I felt like without either good characters or a plot the humor fell flat for me and her humor is why I have enjoyed this author previously. The only character I really liked was Toto, who hasn’t dreamed of a big kitty making them a part of his pride? Dorothy Valentine has almost got her PHd in wildlife biology when she is attacked by a lion and then saved by aliens who unfortunately kidnapped her. She landed on a weird planet with dinosaurs and a car with nothing inside. And of course she meets and falls for two aliens. Overall I gave this one 2.5 stars which I rounded up because I recognize that a lot of the faults I had with this one were more about my taste.

I really enjoyed this! Kimberly is hilarious and idk how she continues to come up with these wild story lines.

I really liked Dory! Girl was so funny! She handled her whole almost death, being abducted, being forced into a mating situation, DINOSAURS, and everything in between so well.

I want more of her, more of Sol (he’s my FAV), more of Lok, and for sure more of Toto. Hell… I even want more of intern! Keep them all and give me more!

The supporting characters were just as good as the main ones. And I hope that we get another book (maybe following Blair and Osid) and that we still get to see Dory, Sol, and Lok. I NEED TO STILL SEE MORE OF SOL AND LOK.

Overall… loved it. There were some moments where I was confused and it seemed like we were losing the plot but it all came together in the end in the best way.

I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I am Trapped in a RomCom - ARC Review
⭐⭐⭐/5
.
WHAT I LIKED:
-Wacky World Building: The planet, creatures, and whys behind the research team’s choices all led to a both fascinating and hilarious world these characters were in.
-Humor: Much of the creature and situational humor was so wacky and absurd, but in a perfectly hilarious fashion.
-FMC: Dorothy/Dory is smart, witty, real, and brave. Her background as a biologist was perfect for this story. She was a fabulous lead character.
.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
-Forced Sex due to Drug Influence: This made me feel gross while reading - and not because I am opposed to sexual content. The fact that multiple characters were drugged with a serum that made it impossible to resist having sex with complete strangers was not cool. This was definitely not consent. And this was definitely not hot.
-MFM/MMF without warning: Both the synopsis and content warnings do not mention there will be multiple sex scenes with 3 parties. This is not for everyone and I think it should be very clear to readers this is present in the book before they dive in.
.
Thank you @netgalley for my eARC copy. I was given this eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley, & Berkley for an E-ARC of I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com.

4.5 stars! Kimberly Lemming has done it again!

This was hilarious, like laugh out loud hilarious. Dory's inner dialogue/character was extremely funny, intelligent, and a relatable FMC. The abduction and opening chapters to set the tone was detailed, and easy to follow the universe of where the story was taken place. This was another cozy fantasy read with the perfect amount of spice, which surprised me... if you know you know. The Jurassic period, animals, and aliens provided an additional layer to the story that made it funny. This was a fun read, not only is it funny, but it is a story that is weird and embraces the weirdness of it which made me love the story even more. The side characters were perfect and were so unserious the entire time lol. The author was able to create the perfect amount of romance and comedy within this universe.

Lok and Sol... Yeah Dory you lucky lucky woman.

Toto was the cherry on top with the constant commentary and hilarious moments throughout the story. I can't wait for the next book in this new series.

Lions & aliens & dinosaurs, oh my!

Have you ever had a dream that was so vivid and lively, that you woke up and had to tell someone about it? That’s how this book made me feel.

As I started reading, I thought okay, this book is going to be chaos. It was light and funny, and I figured I was in for a thrill ride. I was right about that part, the entire book was high-energy, creative, and bizarre (in the best way). But, it also turned out to be a lot more than I thought it was.

Oh boy the spice, the spice took me off guard. Between the characters involved and the praise, I was beyond into it.

Other than that, the plot was surprisingly intricate and there were heart-touching moments. From the title “I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com”, I was expecting shocking humor, and don’t get me wrong the entire book was full of that, but there was a lot more to it than I had anticipated and I loved that.

The characters were all different but came together in a very enjoyable and entertaining way. This wouldn’t be an honest review if I didn’t shout out Toto who was definitely one of my favorite characters.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read. It’s busy, high energy, funny, and makes you want more. I’m personally hoping there’s a book two involving two of the side characters. Keep an open mind, this story is out there, but I’ll personally be seeking out more of Kimberly Lemming's books.

I received this as an arc from NetGalley and Berkley and I appreciate the opportunity to read it and share my honest review.

Kimberly does it again, y’all! If you want a book with fantastically weird world building and has 4 main characters of mostly varying species that all have their own voices, side quests, and desires then this is your book!

The story is witty, sexy, and will leave you dripping for more. She’ll even throw in some twists related your favorite and not so favorite book scenarios 😂.

I’m bursting with excitement to share more, but you’ll have to wait until February or request an early copy from Berkley (which THANK YOU x♾️).

Can’t wait to see what she cooks up next for the rest of this series—I’m all in for whatever she writes up! 📚✨

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 This was my first Kimberly Lemming novel and I was not ready for this delightfully wild ride! I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com was reminiscent of my first time reading Albert Camus’ The Stranger for AP French with its absurdist existentialist philosophy but thankfully Lemming’s book is in English and far more hilarious and enjoyable…and with aliens and dinosaurs. This was one super fun, steamy read with lots of laughs. Most of the time I had no idea where the author was going with the story which made for such an entertaining escapade right alongside Dory and her new friends, quite the motley crew. I majored in sociology and studied how strange our human rituals can look to an outsider so taking on humans in a rom-com lens from aliens made for an absolutely delectable read! Kimberly Lemmings absolutely knocked this one out of the solar system!
Review is on Goodreads and will be posted on instagram closer to publication date and on Amazon when published!

I loved this book! It is funny. It is sexy. It is very fast paced. I zoomed through the story in one day. The romance is the main plot, and it has some dubious consent (which is forewarned in the trigger warnings) but the subplot related to being abducted by aliens and why Dory was abducted was really interesting and intricate. I look forward to more in this series, if there is more.

When Dory is attacked by a lion, she never expected to wake up on a space ship being run by large, colourful owls. In her escape, she and the lion land on an alien planet surrounded by dinosaurs and sexy aliens who she can only communicate with after kissing them. What the hell is going on and can Dory get home?

There is so much absurdity in this novel. Everything about the world has been build out of context by a species of owls who care more about the bottom line than they do about symbiosis. Dory is hilarious in both her attitudes and passions. Sol and Lok have a complete back story. The explicit content is well-balanced by the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Kimberly Lemming is a national treasure. I absolutely her Mead Mishaps series and was thrilled to see she had another one coming out next year. And of course I had to read it immediately upon NetGalley approval, even though it doesn't come out until next February. This book was an absolute delight. Each of the characters was more adorable than the last and the whole book was just so funny. I would cackle out loud, scaring my husband, and would send perfectly hilarious lines to my book coven text chat. I have learned that abduction is not a trope for me because I was waaaaaaay more focused on Dory making it home rather than the romance. But I would absolutely read more of the series, will continue to read anything Kimberly Lemming publishes, and will continue recommending her books to everyone.

Thank you Kimberly Lemming and NetGalley for the E-arc of I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com!

If you’ve read Kimberly’s other books you know the crazy shenanigans her characters get into…but this book was 227 pages of pure chaos and I. LOVED. IT.

I had not read the synopsis before reading this book so I got a surprise not featured on the cover (Lok). Along with a talking lion (one of my favorite characters), and Sol (the love of my life)..What more could I ask for?

I would give you a synopsis but I genuinely have no clue what I read or what would be considered spoilers?? I will tell you that I laughed out loud and swooned a WHOLE bunch (some would say 2x the amount I was prepared for 👀). If you love the humor and hijinks of Kimberly’s other books, be prepared! As with all of her books I wish this was 100 pages longer. I would’ve loved to get to know our main characters a bit more! That being said you will not be disappointed by this books and its many plot twist!

Kimberly I would rip all of my teeth out of my skull for the homicidal maniac’s story (Blair)!!

Likes:
• Surprisingly the talking Animal Sidekick (if anyone could make me love this trope I’d be Kimberly)
• Dory (the FMC) is so science-y. I think she was the perfect fit for the first book!
• All of the fun science and animal biologist aspects
• Both LI have great chemistry with Dory. I love the tamagotchi aspects. They made me cry laugh!

Dislikes:
• Too short!!! (Needed more time to get to know Sol and Lok)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25/5

This book is the most outlandish and silly thing that I’ve read in a while but in the best way possible and exactly what I expect from a Kimberly Lemming novel. I had such a good time reading about Dorothy and Toto’s misadventures. Sol and Lol were interesting characters although I will say that the reverse harem aspect of this book could have been stated a bit more explicitly in maybe the author note or synopsis. Overall this was an extremely entertaining read that will at the very least provide lots of laughs.

Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
