I did not know this book was part of a series, so not knowing the backstories of the characters was on me. I liked the premise of Dracula working for a secret government agency. However, I felt the author tries to cram too many subplots into one novel. There were so many crises that were resolved in a few pages that I stopped caring about the incidents or the characters because I knew things would be resolved. Perhaps, having fewer of these conflicts would be better.
