The last book in the Beacon Hill series is here. The story has the feel of Frank Peretti, but with a spiritual twist that makes the fight between good and evil seem like Indiana Jones's search for relics. In this book, there is a lot going on in the spiritual world, with a dragon and the idea of different realms. There was also drama in the natural world, where there was a race to find the relics and gain its power. You don't want to rush through this amazing story. This is a fun YA story that will appeal to anyone who likes an engaging, fun, global fantasy series.

Overall, this is a great, fast, fast-paced YA thriller/action adventure trilogy that I would love to play as a video game to visit all the places, interact with all the characters, and uncover more answers and mysteries. The author writes great starts, this one plunges us right into action and emotion with powerful revelations. Jack is a hero we want to see accomplish great things as we did with Percy Jackson or Shang-Chi in the Ten Rings.
These books have a lot of action but they are also long. I recommend a combination of book + audiobook.
Very happy to have finished my 2024 with this trilogy and not have to wait for book 3. Thank you for the arc publisher and Netgalley. Posting tour on my assigned day.
Battle of Lion Rock is the third book in the Beacon Hill series. Emma and Jack continue the hunt to find the rest of the artifacts to keep them away from the Merikh, those who would use the artifacts for evil. Their journey takes them to different locations in the world as well as in the supernatural. Jack and Emma uncover secrets about the Merikh and Cherub that help unravel the mystery around where the artifacts are, and why they have been hidden. With the help of all their friends and family, Jack and Emma prepare for an epic battle where they discover who is an ally and who has been pretending all along.
The epic battles and secrets test Emma and Jack’s resolve to continue the quest, but we see perseverance, sacrifice, hope, love, redemption, and trust in Elyon that good will overcome evil.
“Matters of the heart are greater than troubles of the mind… Sometimes, redemption requires us to forgive ourselves and others, no matter how far we have fallen.”
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, Tyndale House Publishers and D.J. Williams. I was not required to provide a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
A thrilling third installment in the Beacon Hill YA fantasy series which Ryan Steck* praised as “a blistering, high-stakes, fast-paced supernatural thriller that’s impossible to put down.” Wow really really interesting and nice thrilling story.
This is the third in a series but the action in this novel is very similar to that in the earlier ones. In that sense, the plot is repetitive so I think it could be read and appreciated without having read the first two. If each volume had had distinct adventures this would not be the case.
My interest in this series began to really wane with this book. There are just so many characters, so many realms, so many enemies, so many similar adventures. It was hard for this septuagenarian to keep them all straight. The plot in this novel seemed a bit unfocused to me. The action bounced around to many different realms and situations. Sometimes the characters struggle to get where they were going while at other times immediately jumped to the new location. New dangers arose each time. There is much explanation as a new truth is uncovered or a new character enters the action. I read adventure after adventure without seeming to get closer to the prize, so to speak. I did not feel the spiritual allegory was clear until near the end.
Lovers of fantasy will appreciate all the unusual attack animals and fight scenes with powerful weapons and good descriptions. This is a series for readers who are ready to invest a great deal of time in this series as it ends up at just under 1,500 pages.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Wow! What a battle it is!! If you've read the other books in this series, you must read this one! I will not tell you who lives and who dies...you must read it for yourself to find out!!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
