Two alternating female main characters both 1st person povs: Laurel and Corey bound both because of the traumatic impact loss has had on them and because they live or have lived in the same house in suburban New Jersey.
Corey has recently relocated to her mother's condo in Florida, Laurel has just moved into the house on Cold Creek Lane.
This story quickly becomes tense and gripping as the mysteries surrounding the house and the neighbors are unraveled. On one side is a know it all but also sweet old lady who wants nothing more than to help, or does she ? On the other side is Addie, single, gorgeous and put together with an open ear for Laurel's worries ...
We go back in forth between Corey who is worried when she discovers her house now has a new young family living in it and Laurel as she tried to fit in while dealing with ghosts from the past, but something just isn't right... the tension rises.
Motherhood, mother-daughter relationships, grief, there's quite a bit to unpack here but this is also a very gripping thriller, it kept me on the edge of my seat listening in one go!
The narration by Gail Shalan and Emily Ellet was so well done, it was easy to stay on track and engaged!

I was able to guess what was happening quite early in the story, but I enjoyed the reveal and the story leading up to it. I was not expecting the very end of this book, so that was a nice surprise.

Emily Ellet and Gail Shalan did a good job narrating this story. They kept a solid pace, annunciated clearly, and allowed me to listen at 2x speed.

Set in New Jersey suburbia, what seems to be a tale of domesticity and motherhood, becomes the thing of nightmares.

This is one of those stories where you don’t know who to trust; most of the characters are somewhat unreliable. There are two main female protagonists: Laurel and Corey. At first, they don’t seem connected, but it soon becomes very evident it has something to do with the house - but how and why, and... who?

This reminded me of a Hitchcock film, where there is gaslighting, deception, and an overall sense of unease. You’ll be questioning everyone’s motives and opportunities. I’ll be honest, I didn’t like several of the characters, especially Laurel’s husband; he was so unsupportive and never believed Laurel when strange things started happening. But all this added to the eerie atmosphere.

Even though the shocking conclusion may have been set up a little too well, it was still incredibly exciting and creepy to read. It was a great ending to this chilling domestic thriller.

This was a great audiobook. It kept me engaged the entire time. I was so invested in the FMC’s story. I just wanted to shake her husband and tell him to open his eyes to the obvious. I’ll definitely be recommending this one.

Pub Day: 8/6 - Out Now!

I love a good psychological thriller filled with family drama. This one delivered. This story was absolutely addicting.

The House on Cold Creek Lane is told in a dual point of view between Laurel - a new home owner on Cold Creek Lane and Corey - a mother who lost her child and is now living with her mother. Both of their stories were

The main characters are a bit more on the unreliable side where as the others are all suspicious. While I was reading this one I definitely changed my mind on who I though was the culprit numerous times. Alterman did a fantastic job at moving suspicion from character to character. There is so much manipulation and distrust throughout this story that you have no idea who is good and who is bad.

The pacing was fast throughout, I needed to know what happened. And let me just say - that ending though - wow wow wow, the ending is phenomenal.

I listened to this one via audiobook. Emily Ellet and Gail Shalan were perfect. I think they complimented one another, while having distinct voices for each character. I highly recommend this one on audio.

To all my psychological thriller friends - be sure to check this one out. Huge thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Liz Slterman for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

The House on Cold creek Lane by Liz Alterman

The House on Cold Creek Lane has this undertone of something sinister and I was hooked from page one. The narration was fantastic too!

So Laurel and her family move into a new home. Little does she know what transpired at the house before she bought it. Something tragic happened there and now Laurel can feel something lurking in the shadows.

The book comes from POV from Laurel the new owner of the house and Corey. Corey lives with her mother after the loss of her daughter.

The book is loaded with family drama and unreliable characters and I loved being so wrong footed. It was moderately paced which worked for the book and I enjoyed the suspense. It will lead you on a merry chase in circles before it blows your mind!

If you love thrillers, add this one to your TBR

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

This was a decent thriller that had many twists and turns. I was fortunate enough to get approved for both an ebook and audiobook galley of this book. The author of The Perfect Neighbors returns with another juicy and addictive thriller. This was a very fun and fast-paced thriller and I didn't think it was predictable, which is good!
On the audiobook side, I thought that the narrators Gail Shalan and Emily Ellet did a great job telling this story and bringing the characters to life.

Overall this was a really good thriller and I can see why Liz. Alterman is so popular!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was a quick, easy read full of twists and turns. This book has two FMC’s and revolves around the house one of them used to live in and the other just moved into. Is the house haunted or are the neighbors treacherous? One thing is for sure, this book will keep you guessing up until the last page. Great narration. Highly recommend for fans of psychological thrillers!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The House on Cold Creek Lane by Liz Alterman was released on August 6th, 2024.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. The dual POV, the unreliable narrators; it was the perfect recipe for a story that I needed to finish. It kept me guessing and had me doubt my ideas many times and that is always what makes a great mystery/thriller for me. I absolutely despised the husband though - he was way too annoying.

A young couple with two children move into a new home where Laurel receives a threat to be aware of danger. A nosy neighbor that infiltrates her life and home, a new friend that she can’t get enough of and her critical husband that judges her every move. Laurel can’t shake her unsettling anxiety and suspicion of her grandmotherly neighbor.

Meanwhile, in another neighborhood, Corey is grieving the loss of her daughter and the end of her marriage, starting over in her mother’s retirement condo. Corey can’t believe her daughter’s death was an accident. Something sinister is in the air.

Find out how these lives intertwine and who is out to get Laurel?

Interesting, suspenseful and a bit mysterious. I really enjoyed this 4/5 star read! It kept me entertained and I didn’t figure it out until close to the end! Loved it! Fans of Ruth Ware and Lucy Foley will like this one!

This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning and did not let go.

I loved how character focused the plotline was. The narrator did a great job with the personalities of all the characters. I can't say that I liked all of the characters, but even when I didn't like them, I enjoyed the fact that I didn't like them.

Overall, it was a tense domestic thriller that I would recommend both the book and the audiobook.

I think I'm in the minority on this one. I reallly was not a fan of the main character Laurel, and her husband was the most condescending jerk. The pace on this was a little slower than I like but when things did start to pick up, it was an entertaining read. I listened to this and feel this probably plays a big part in not liking this book as much as I thought I would. The narrator for the voice of the kid was so grating and made it very unenjoyable.

This couple moves into a new neighborhood and strange things start happening. A parallel story is going on and they eventually meet. I wouldn’t call this book a thriller. It’s definitely suspenseful without what one may call “twists” as where the story is going is quite obvious. However, I still enjoyed the pace and the story. Narration was fine except for the kid voices, those were somewhat annoying. Overall a good story..

A riveting and addictive story, relatable characters, suspenseful, a bit dark, disturbing and twisty.
Just be prepared because you won’t be able to put it down once you start reading.

What a thriller! I devoured it and cannot stop thinking about it. My heart broke for Laurel as she tried to settle into her new home while dealing with her family and neighbors constantly judging and second guessing her. Corey was an equally misunderstood character and although she continued to make cringe worthy choices, I was still rooting for her and hoping that she would get answers about her daughter’s death. This was absolutely unputdownable and the narrator was fabulous. Highly recommend!

The House on Cold Creek Lane is a creepy thriller that was an excellent read. It will keep you guessing the entire way through, and will engage you in the mystery of what happened.

This story is told in dual POV which was very well done. The two main characters are very unique, and intriguing.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story, which was well done by two narrators. I listened at 2x speed (my normal audiobook listening speed is 1.75-2x speed).

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audiobook copy.

The book was suspenseful and mysterious. Lauren and Rob moves in their new house. But unfortunate things happens and everyday things including their neighbours actions increases Lauren’s concern. Corey is a mysterious character. There is an inevitable web of deception, lies, secrets, suspense and mystery. The ending was so shocking and unexpected. There are characters you will love and hate.

Narrators did such a good job. I felt each and every emotion the characters were going through. There was an odd connection between the two women and the author has really created clever characters with an unthinkable plot. The book kept me on the edge of my seat.

Thank you partner Dreamscape Media for my gifted ALC.

The House on Cold Creek Lane is a twisty, dual POV domestic thriller that I absolutely devoured. The author weaves a multilayered, well-plotted story that kept me guessing til the showstopping finale. While there were a few components that were a bit OTT, it still made for a suspenseful, entertaining listen that I'd certainly recommend to fans of domestic/ suburban thrillers

The audiobook narration is top notch, and I'm so glad Dreamscape chose to use two narrators with very different voices, as it really helped keep the perspectives separate.

Laurel & Rob have just moved into the house on Cold Creek Lane Rob tells her its the perfect house and she was on bed rest with there 2nd child and has to take his word.

We are also introduced to Corey who lives in Florida and we slowly learn her story and her connection with the house on Cold Creek Lane.

As the story unravels and Coreys back story hits it really hits you all around and You are 90% sure you know the villain you have doubts in your mind that it could be any of them.

I will say this keep me interested the whole time and I hated some of the characters and Coreys story was my favorite in the end. Rob pissed me off so much (and his family) and don't even get me started on the judgmental neighbors. But like all Thrillers I recommend just going into it blind and let you discover the story and see where you land.
