This is such a great book. It's an introduction to philosophy but it's also a handbook on how to apply these principles to your life to be happy. While it's aimed at younger readers, it could also be a fun, easy read for adults. I highly recommend this for its practical advice and information. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

This book is great. It introduces different philosophies in a easy-to-understand manner. The text is broken up by pictures and quotes to not overwhelm the reader. The challenge segments at the end give a lot of food for thought. I enjoyed that the author introduced the major philosophical players, but also highlighted lesser-known people and their contributions. Teens should definitely enjoy this, but I found it extremely useful as an adult, too. The suggested reading lists to supplement the text were carefully considered and good additions.

This book is aimed toward older children and teens and gives a primer on some of the different philosophical thinkers of old’s views on how to live best and be happy. The book is informative but also gives only a taste, which I think is nice because at the end, it provides a list of recommended reading for those who want to learn more. Stoicism, Cynicism, Taoism, and Buddhism are some of the philosophies and religions covered. Overall, I feel it gave good information, was light enough and appropriate enough for a young reader, and was even fun to read!

This is the perfect handbook for the introduction of happiness and how it can be achieved through different philosophies, especially, for Teens. I actually love books where things are easier to understand, with small chapters, and where the book isn’t being pretentious about itself.
This book is all of that. It deals with feelings, thoughts, philosophies (like Zen, Stoicism, and etc), and how all of them can be achieved to improve your mental health in this day and time, and how all these philosophies and changes can get you peace.
Informative, easy to read, and perfect for teens!
Four stars!

Philosophy - love of wisdom.

Seriously happy touches on the different philosophies out there including stoicism, zen, Buddhism and taoism. The chapters are short on each one but I found them very informative and I actually learnt a great deal. There are also challenges that you can do at the end of each chapter.

I'm not the intended audience here ( being in my 40's) but I really enjoyed this book and have come away wanting to learn more, especially zen which focuses on meditation and Taoism and tai chi.

I've been into stoicism for the last year or so and it has helped me alot, I had no idea there were this many philosophies out there to learn about. I found this book informative and practical, it is a good stepping stone to delve into the philosophy world.

Considering that the audience is teens and YA, this is a well-organised, and insightful book with practical tips about taking your mindfulness/happiness seriously. It is a tribute to several established and widely researched and discussed philosophies, theories and perspectives on happiness from stoicism to Buddhism and many more.
It is a stunning summary for adults and a great introduction for the teen/YA readers.
