This is a well-written and well-researched book. I was so impressed with the author's ability to explain the history surrounding Italy, Da Vinci, and the Mona Lisa in such an entertaining style. Hales manages to keep the narrative interesting without allowing historical detail to weigh down the story. I would have appreciated a little bit quicker pace, but again, the historical explanations and the world the author builds is as entertaining as it is informative.
