Fears, Flights, and Kangaroo Fights by Bill Myers
Thank you NetGalley for giving me this opportunity to read this book in exchange for a review.
Rating: Four point five stars, it has a cool POV, a food message, and it's funny.
Language/Profanity: A vague mention of someone cursing.
Faith: Bible verses, praying, God helping us, how we should not fear.
Romance/Sex: None
Violence ect.: Plane crash, violent driving, wild animals, and a fight.
Other: One of the characters has a huge ego, fears were laughed at.
Part of a Series: Yes, book six of the Magnificent Mulligan's series that is on going
Synopsis:
The Mulligans are off to the jungles of South America to help Mom save some snakes in need of a new home. Jessica, terrified of snakes, is not thrilled to be on this particular mission of mercy, but she soon discovers an effective way to get over her find something even scarier. Like crash-landing in the jungle and having to spend the night with LOTS of creepy crawly sounds all around.
Meanwhile, Nick and Lisa are on their own mission to transport Bob, a big kangaroo, back to the animal park. But they encounter a group of bad guys who have their own plans for the putting him in a boxing ring and charging admission to watch Bob fight some unlucky human.
Back home, Dad, Janelle, Stephanie, and Julie are facing their own taking care of Mulligan’s animal park while fearing what is happening to the rest of the family, away from home and facing danger. And as Dad tells Julie, we can’t get rid of fear by ignoring it, but you can focus on something better, like God’s love and His promises.
The Magnificent Mulligans can’t help but find adventure, and it’s usually their love of helping animals that leads them there.
Thoughts:
This was a funny, enjoyable read, from (mostly the POV of a animal.) Honestly I really want to read the other books in this series and am looking forward to seen the characters again as this was such a good book! This whole book is talking about how we shouldn't fear, because God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. Which is honestly good timing as our family has been talking about trusting God and not fearing.
Some of the things were slightly odd, with saying that you could get by with thinking of something else instead of what you fear, but it has younger children thinking that. It also has how we need to ask God to take away our fear. And how He will help us. There was a part where the fears were made fun of, but it was only a small part.

Fear, Flights, and Kangaroo Fights was a hilarious little medley of randomness and faith. I haven't read any other Magnificent Mulligans books, but I grew up on Adventures in Odyssey, so I'm familiar with some of the characters. Lisa and Nick...I could hear the way they would deliver their lines and it was fantastic. I loved the family elements, showing real sides to family life, and the fast pace was perfect. A wonderful book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
