A young woman's body is discovered early one morning. The race to find the killer intensifies when another woman is reported missing...
Her Last Walk Home is the 14th book in the DI Lottie Parker series of police procedurals set in Ireland. There are no spoilers about Lottie's past cases but her personal circumstances have developed over the series.
A young woman goes out for a date but never returns home. Her body is found and a murder investigation launched but another young woman is already missing. There are interesting juxtapositions with Lottie and her own family circumstances which makes the case more personal for her. Lottie and her lover Boyd have some personal issues to resolve. They want to progress with their relationship but their family situations make it tricky. Then they find another body!
The majority of the book focuses on Lottie and her investigation. But some chapters show the victim and perpetrator, both of which adds significantly to the tension. We also see the victims' families and there is a subplot about child neglect which is highly emotive. I found the ending a little confusing as a lots of strands seem to pull together at once.
I actually listened to the audio version of this book and really enjoyed the experience. The narrator does a good job with bringing the text to life and I liked the Irish accent.
Her Last Walk Home is an enjoyable police procedural and I like the development of the characters over the series.
Another fabulous read in the series. A fantastic storyline with great characters. I was engrossed from the start.
Welcome back to Ragmullin, the murder capital of Ireland. You really do not want to be a young woman in this town.
In this 14th book in the Detective Lottie Parker series, two women are dead and another missing. Lotties on the case bit she does have the usual family distractions, including proof she can't do anything normal, like a house viewing, for instance, without things turning very dark very quickly.
I do love this series. Lottie is a flawed but fabulous character. If I absolutely had to live in the murder capital of Ireland, at least I'd know my murder wouldn't go unsolved!
*4 Stars*
Copy kindly received via NetGalley for an honest review.
Interesting read with good characters. Lottie, Boyd and the rest of the team go all out to find the murderer and the reason behind them, and to stop any further unnecessary killings.
Her Last Walk Home Patricia Gibney is the 14th book in the excellent Detective Lottie Parker series and this series is another one of the best series of books out there at the moment, to get your teeth into!. With these books I never get bored of them, they just get better and better.
I wonder what case Lottie will get next, Looking forward to it whatever it is! Especially as this book was her best!
I just love these books and Patricia is a 1st class author.
I highly recommend this book and a great holiday read.
Another 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and especially Bookouture for my Arc.
Thankfully I literally just finished book 13 so was able to move straight into book 14. Lottie is back with a murder case involving a young woman Laura. When Lottie and her team start to investigate things take a worrying turn when another young woman Shannon goes missing last seen getting into a taxi. The team have to work out if there is any connection between Laura and Shannon and desperately try to work that out before they get called to another murder scene.
As usual we see Lottie's personal life spill over into the storyline as she battles with Boyd over their domestic living arrangements. I enjoy the series and really like the characters but it's about time Lottie started treating Boyd better, she is awful to the man! This book was certainly better than the last one and I was engaged with the story right until the end. Another enjoyable book in this series and it seems like there is still scope for this to continue so I look forward to the next one!
I don't know how she does it,but Patricia never fails to give life to her books. This is #14 of the Lottie Parker books and the longevity of this series is a testament to how much people love her/them.
As usual there's a body,a young woman is found dead in the early hours having taken a lift with a man. The baby carseat in the back put the victim at ease,as was his intention. Her distraught parents are not alone in their grief, when the killer strikes again taking another young woman's life. Lottie discovers these murders weren't random, the killer targeted these girls. She needs to catch this predator now.
As always we don't just get a run of the mill detective read,we have a front row seat to Lottie(and her teams)personal lives...which I adore! It gives everyone more depth and personality..and like I've said before you just feel like you know these people..that they are actually real!
I listened to this on NetGalley shelf and the narrator Michelle Moran is Lottie for me. She nails it every time.

Her Last Walk Home is the 14th book in the Detective Lottie Parker series by Patricia Gibney. This book can be read as a standalone mystery or as part of the series.
I absolutely loved this book! Detective Lottie Parker has a lot on her plate and I think that makes her so relatable! (I love how the author really developed Lottie and gave her depth, so you could actually feel how she felt and understand her actions.) I think she has become one of my favorite book characters!
This book was incredible! The story was well developed and vibrant. There were so many twists and turns and secrets to try to unravel. The mystery was laid out and filled with layers. As each new piece of the puzzle was unveiled I found myself on the edge of my seat hungry for more! I love these characters so much! I can't wait to return with the next book!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for access to this title. All opinions expressed are my own.
DI Lottie Parker and her team are back! When several women go missing, it is up to Lottie, Kirby, Boyd and the rest of the team to find out who is taking them. At the same time, Lottie and her partner and lover, Mark Boyd tackle the serious issue of blending their families.
I am repeating myself but I love this series. But admit that as interesting as the case was, I felt it implausible that the police would be able to solve this one. Then again, it is fiction, so maybe it can happen in that world.
Although each book in the series tackles a new case, a new reader would have to read a few other titles to understand the dynamics of Lottie's team and her family. With so many books in the series, there is a lot of history to unpack.

#HerLastWalkHome #NetGalley I love this series. Lottie Parker is a great character. There was so much action and drama from the first chapter that I could not put it down and read it in two sittings. This is book 14 in the series, and although it can be read as a standalone book, it does help the reader to know more about the backgrounds of Lottie and her family, Boyd and Sergio, Kirby and McKeown. Excellent read and a well deserved 5 stars. Can't wait for the next book in this series.
Her shoes pinched as she shivered in the cold night air. She just wanted to get home. A taxi slowed to a halt next to her, and as she buckled her seat belt, she noticed the child’s seat next to her and felt safe. But when she saw his eyes in the mirror, a shiver of terror shook her to her core…
When a young woman’s body is found on a patch of wet grass in the early hours of the morning, Detective Lottie Parker mourns the young life so brutally snatched away. Looking at the victim’s flimsy strappy top, damp from the dew and soaked with blood, it is clear that this young girl never came home from a night out. Lottie’s heart breaks as she thinks of the girl’s parents finding their daughter’s empty bed and she vows to catch the murderer.
The young woman is soon identified as Laura Nolan, and Lottie watches the blood drain from her mother Diana’s face when she tells her the terrible news. Diana reveals that Laura was on a date the night she was killed, but she doesn’t know who with… and Laura’s empty bedroom with make-up scattered across her dressing table offers no clues.
Lottie and her team rush to trace Laura’s last moments. But hope at a potential breakthrough turns to horror for Lottie when another young woman, Shannon Kenny is reported missing, last seen climbing into a taxi with a broken light, close to the same bar.
But then, Lottie discovers a connection between Laura and Shannon that totally overturns everything she thought she knew. The killer didn’t stalk these two young women at random. He knew exactly who they were and where they would be. But can Lottie stop him before he strikes again?
I just love this series! I love Lottie Parker and her family and Boyd too. This is a complexed case but it is fast paced. I could not put this book down. It is an intense read and it made my heart pound.
There are lots of twists and turns and it is action packed. I kept guessing who the killer was and was wrong every time. It is not a predictable read. I was hooked straight from the beginning to the very end.
It was an addicting and gripping read with a lot of surprises.
The chapters are short and I love short chapters.
The ending was a little confusing
Everything was coming at me at once. It was a lot to sort out. It was a little convoluted. I have lots of love for this series. It was so good. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
I want to thank Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for the copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Another book to feed into my newest obsession of police procedurals. This is my first book in the D.I. Lottie Parker series. It was interesting to read about detectives/inspectors in Ireland. I haven’t read any that weren’t US or England before this one. There was definitely a lot going on in this book, and even though it can technically be read as a standalone, I wanted more backstory of the detectives and Lottie’s family and relationship.
I was sucked into this one quickly, as the bodies were piling up. I needed to know if the murders and disappearances were connected, or if it was all a coincidence. Was there a serial killer on the loose?
Lucky for me, I had this one in both digital and audio so I didn’t have to put it down for long.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copies of this book.
With a chilling start in the 14th book in the exceptional D.I. Lottie Parker series, Laura, a young mother with a four-year-old son is found murdered. Before long, Shannon, a second victim, is also discovered. Lottie gives her all to find justice for these victims, as well as to prevent any further murders from occurring. It is undeniable that the two murders are connected.
Meanwhile, there is drama on Lottie’s home front as well, as her mother is showing early signs of dementia. Also, Lottie’s partner Boyd is adjusting to being a full-time father to his young son Sergio. So with Lottie and her team being incredibly busy, and the dynamics changing in her family, an underlying tension grows between Lottie and Boyd.
Although I all but inhaled this book as soon as the ARC became available, I just had to give it a reread by way of an early audiobook release. The experience of listening to this as an audiobook was well worth the time invested.
Patricia Gibney delivers a powerfully crafted story with multiple points of view while Lottie navigates the difficulties of the tragic case involving several murders, her home life, and the POVs of the victims and suspects. Might be a lot to keep track of, but for me, it kept me riveted to the story. I can imagine Lottie as the lead role on a television crime drama because of all the dynamics she faces in her career and her personal life.
This book had it all, including excellent pacing and a dramatic storyline which kept my emotions involved. Factor in compelling characters, and this book was impossible to put down, even with a second read, barely two months later.
I was excited to discover that this series by Patricia Gibney has been translated into other several languages. So far I found Hungarian, Spanish, Castilian, Czech and German! In fact, I clicked the buy link for German and the first 13 books are in the series are on Kindle Unlimited, as I’m sure this 14th book will be as well. Now, this might not be the case for all languages, but be sure to click the link above to find out.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
The story is a common one. A young woman goes on a date, her body found with stab wounds. A second woman goes missing, no body found. I found the lack of communication between these young victims and their families strange. So tight lipped so closed, that it makes the investigation so much harder.
When a third body is found. Emaciated, starved and abused the crime does not fit the earlier pattern.
The investigation begins to find links between the first two women and when the identity of the third woman is confirmed, more links are discovered. Coincidences in a crime investigation are never taken lightly but this one looks like a rabbit warren with clues going every which way.
The story is dramatic and quick, nothing spared so every chapter you’re hit with a different aspect and alternative options.
A very good read. My first from this author, definitely not my last.
4.5⭐
Detective Inspector Lottie Parker is back in another intricate, twisty and intriguing police procedural.
That sees her and her team including partner Boyd. Who has returned to work after his unsanctioned exploits trying to track down his son Sergio. Search for a killer. When a young woman Laura Nolan is found murdered and dumped behind a local cinema in Ragmullin.
But leads are pretty thin on the ground. That is until another young woman Shannon Kenny is reported missing after last being seen getting into a taxi and Lottie realises these woman are being targeted on purpose.
However, Lottie as usual has a lot more to contend with than just a red herring filled investigation including her living arrangements now that Sergio is permanently living with Boyd. Her mum Rose's battle with Alzheimer's and her daughters arguing over a potential new man in one of their lives.
Yet, Lottie hasn't got time to worry or really deal with any of that. As this killer is only just getting started.
And with a fast-paced complex storyline, plenty of twists and turns. Not to mention a killer who will keep you guessing. This is a great addition to the series, and I would happily recommend it to all.
A brilliant addition to a brilliant series
Two innocent young women found after nights out on dates.
But are they that innocent, and has their “activity’s” put them in danger
The book poses an interesting moralistic question
What is acceptable behaviour these days to make money legally.
Yes, nobody should be attacked and murdered, but back in the day people used to blame girls for the way they dressed.
Now with websites, social media, and dating sites, where exactly, moralistically, is the boundary between innocence and trampy.
The story is so much more than this but it’s the thing that stuck with me at the end of the book.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Her Last Walk Home' by Patricia Gibney.
WARNING ⚠ ADDICTION ALERT ⚠
Wow!! What another absolutely riveting, non stop action packed crime thriller from this epic author!!!
I was absolutely hooked from the first page to the last!!! Not that I can say I am surprised as I absolutely LOVE Lottie and that gang!! This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that absorbs the reader into the storyline. The cover, title and synopsis suit the plot perfectly.
This book is the fourteenth book in Patricia Gibney's 'Lottie Parker' series but can be read as a standalone.
What I love about Patricia is that I don't even have to read the synopsis of any of her books to know that whatever that says the book is guaranteed to be a unique, gripping and addictive read and as always this book was no exception!!! This was yet another explosive addition to this fantastic series where Patricia completely emerges the reader into the storyline. The storyline is filled with suspense, crime, friendship, romance, murder, betrayal , heartache, secrets, family, lies and is absolutely rammed with tension which left me on the edge of my seat biting my nails with my heart pounding throughout. It is extremely fast paced and rammed with action and loads of red herrings. I loved the fact that you get to see what was going on from so many perspectives. The main ones are Lottie but you also get to see what happens through the eyes of several other characters!! Patricia manages to weave the chapters by different protagonists together perfectly and does not give a drip of information unless she wants you to know it!!! Patricia has absolutely everything covered and I absolutely love books like this as you really do get to see so much that it means you get further and further emerged into the storyline leaving you shocked and bewildered when you look up to discover your reality!! Patricia manages to drip feed the reader with titbits of information to allow you to try to solve it yourself without giving too much away. It is like you are Lottie trying to discover what is going on with your team surrounding you! However, I had no idea who was involved and was shocked when it was revealed so a HUGE well done to Patricia on shocking me. There were such a huge pool of suspects in this book and so many has the motivation , amongst other things that I had no idea who to believe until the bitter end!! I have read so many crime books it is getting harder and harder for me to be surprised but you achieved it so congratulations!! With so much going on in work as well as in personal lives will this amazing team be able to catch the killer this time? You'll have to grab your copy of this amazing read to find out for yourself but I promise you won't regret it!!! An epic, emotional, addictive and explosive addition to this absolutely gripping must read series!!! I cannot wait to see what Lottie, Mark and the rest of the team get up to next!!!
This is one of the few books that I have listened 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but for the second time I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrator Michele Moran who both did an absolutely amazing job bringing this story and the characters to life. I would listen to it and this book in the car and while walking at any opportunity. I'm not only looking forward to reading more books by the epic Patricia but also to listening to more books narrated by Michele!
Although this is the fourteenth book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without reading any of the others previously. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT THE FIRST PAGE WITHOUT CLEARING YOUR SCHEDULES AS THIS WILL KEEP YOU HOOKED!!!
I absolutely love Lottie, Boyd and the majority of the team and they have become like old friends to me who I look forward to meeting again in every book and miss them between books. It was quite sad coming to the end of this book and knowing I am going to have to say Goodbye to them for a while. It is vital for me that I 'click' with the main protagonists and I love Lottie's kick butt attitude and that she doesn't take any CRUD. I'm looking forward to getting to know her better from the previous books. Boyd is a sweet guy and I love how him and Lottie make such an epic team that work perfectly together. I absolutely love the fiery team dynamics and enjoyed that there was tension and fights in the team as it portrays the truth that a team won't always get along. All of these amazing, strong, unique and memorable characters come to life and jump out of the pages thanks to Patricia's fantabulous evocative writing skills and they have all become friends that I miss every time I turn the last page and always look forward to meeting them again and again. Keep up the amazing work Patricia!!
Congratulations Patricia on yet another fantastic book and this is exactly why you are on my favourite crime author list!!! I am looking forward to reading your previous and future successes and here's to your next 🥂!!
Overall a page turning and addictive explosive crime thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat throughout!!

I read almost all the books in the Detective Lottie Parker Series and Her Last Walk Home does not disappoint. Lottie is at a crossroads, her mother's health is slowly deteriorating, her house is falling apart, her relationship is Boyd needs a solution, her relationship with her children needs improvement. She's back at the precint and delves into a case that girls just disappear after a night out in town, then a man is found murdered at a site construction and a girl turns up dead in the countryside. Are these crimes related? Who is the puppeteer behind it? Hold on to your seats because the plot thickens and the origin for the crimes is in the past. Really good entertainment!
I thank Ms. Gibney, her publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.
Her Last Walk Home Patricia Gibney
As a favourite series of mine, I was delighted to get my hands on book 14. This was the first book of the series that i listened to, and it took a little while to get used to the narrator, but just because Lotties voice was different in my head.
Once I settled in, I quickly enjoyed the narration and storyline, I just might be converted to this series on audio from now on!
This book had everything we know any love from this series and I eagerly await book 15.
Things are never quiet for long for Detective Lottie Parker & her team. A young woman is found dead near the cinema complex. She is quickly identified as her mother has been babysitting the victim's young child & reported her missing. The body count goes up when another young woman's body is found . Along with a discovery in a show home 0f a young man an emaciated body of another young woman- some victims seem to be connected but others don't. The story is told from various points of view which keeps the reader on their toes. The thing I love about this series is that along with a good police procedural you get a cast of characters you really care about. I'm already looking forward to the next one - surely it's time to give Lottie & Boyd a break!!
Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.
