Patricia Gibney has done it again by continuing her books about Detective Lottie Parker and crew with Book #14! They are fabulous reads with so many twists and turns that you will find yourself speeding through all the chapters! I'm hoping Ms. Kovach never stops writing DI Lottie Parker stories for us to enjoy.

Another great addition to this series, set in Ireland. Lottie and Boyd are the main detectives and also in a relationship. Lottie is quite cantankerous in this book, due to the case and family issues. Boyd also has his own problems. Young girls are disappearing after a night out . There is not an awful lot to go on for the investigators and when a workman is also found murdered on a building site, the cases do not appear to be connected. There are triggers here, abuse, perhaps an escort agengy and a child finds a body. The book did draw me in and keep me engaged despite it being longish, the chapters are short which makes for easy reading. I did not see the resolution of the case coming at all, though there are plenty of twists and secrets along the way.

This is book 14 in the D.I Lottie Parker series. I didn’t realise it was a book series and have only read book 1 previously. I feel they can be read as a standalone as I didn’t feel I was missing out. It doesn’t focus hugely on the characters backstories but I’d still like to read the others as it seems like a good series to get stuck into. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Lottie has really come into her own as a character when I compare her to the first book. There is really strong character development along with an intriguing storyline that really builds the suspense. Just when you think you’re in reach of what’s going on your left hanging but in a way that adds to your experience as the reader. I loved how it all came together and even more so the many the surprises along the way. Definitely recommend.

The body of a young woman named as Laura Nolan is found dumped on waste ground. Detective Lottie Parker and her team are investigating when the brother of Shannon Kenny reports her as missing, so they take on both cases as there are too many coincidences for the them not to be connected. As Lottie tries to find the person responsible before more victims are snatched, she needs to sort out her family and their problems.

I’ve read the series from the beginning and have to say that ‘Her Last Walk Home’ is the best one yet. It has everything I’m looking for in a thriller, suspense, drama, twists and an intriguing plot that makes it difficult to identify who’s responsible and the reason behind the crimes. This perfectly conceived thriller has had me hooked from page one and I’ve enjoyed reading more of Lottie’s family and her relationship with Boyd. It’s well deserving of five stars and I just wish I could give more.

Her Last Walk Home is the fourteenth novel in the DI Lottie Parker series by Patricia Gibney. And it proves to be a brilliant, if disturbing entry in this strong thriller series by the Irish author.
And this is my first time listening to an audio version of a book in the series. The narrator, Michele Moran, does a great job in bringing the characters to life. In particular Lottie and somehow, made me feel a greater empathy with her than from merely reading the book.
As always, I look forward to the release of a new novel by Patricia Gibney as I know that I will enjoy an exciting storyline, lead by well-developed and entertaining characters. Since first meeting Lottie Parker, the character has developed and undergone many changes; Lottie is by no means perfect, but she has grown over the series and the reader has seen her battle her personal demons as she supports her family, alongside tackling some gruesome murders and discovering the truth about her past.
Within the opening pages, Gibney manages to grab your attention and does not let your attention escape. This is no different in Her Last Walk Home, when the reader is confronted with the inner thoughts of someone, presumably our killer, who is stalking young women, and also meets several potential victims, this development serves to heighten the tension as we know one of these women will be kidnapped but just who?
The author uses a combination of storyline (some long running) to keep up a fast pace and ensure that the action does not stop.
I found that some of the light humour present in previous novels is absent here, but that fits with the increasing darkness of the storyline and also the issues faced by Lottie and her family.

This 14th novel in the DI Lottie Parker series jumps right in with the body of a young woman, on her way home from a night out, is found dumped on a patch of wasteland. How and why the young woman, Laura Nolan, ended up there will be hard for Lottie and her team to work out, especially after a second woman, Shannon Kenny is reported missing after a night out and is found to share a link to Laura. Lottie wonders if, rather than being chosen at random, these young women were targeted by someone.

Lottie and Boyd’s relationship is struggling a bit, with Boyd no longer living with Lottie and her brood, but with his newly discovered son Sergio. Boyd tries to get Lottie interested in buying a house together, but it’s not big enough to house all her household, which causes some friction between them, although they still work together amicably. Boyd’s sister Grace arrives to help look after Sergio, adding some amusement in her neurodiverse manner and the way she deals with Boyd. She may also have come up with a housing solution for them so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them.

Told through multiple points of view this has quite a complicated, twisty plot but the short, fast paced chapters ensure it isn’t too hard to follow. However, it does require the reader to wait until late in the book to wait for everything to fall into place and to discover the motive and identity of the killer. Not my favourite in the series, but a strong addition that will keep me coming back for more.

Laura Nolan’s body was discovered on a patch of grass and Lottie faces the task of conveying the news to her mother as well as solving the murder. Another woman, Shannon Kenny goes missing shortly after in similar circumstances and the tension in the area becomes unbearable. Lottie once again faces a ‘race against time to hunt down the murderer before they strike again.

As Lottie delves into the case the connection between the two women becomes apparent and the stakes continue to rise throughout. Her Last Walk Home is a compelling and haunting thriller, full of tension and emotion making this an excellent addition to the series and in my opinion the best one yet.

I absolutely love this series and I was so happy to get back to Ragmullin to catch up with Lottie and the team. I was hooked from the first page and flew threw it in two sittings. Great book.

Her shoes pinched as she shivered in the cold night air. She just wanted to get home. A taxi slowed to a halt next to her, and as she buckled her seat belt, she noticed the child’s seat next to her and felt safe. But when she saw his eyes in the mirror, a shiver of terror shook her to her core…

When a young woman’s body is found on a patch of wet grass in the early hours of the morning, Detective Lottie Parker mourns the young life so brutally snatched away. Looking at the victim’s flimsy strappy top, damp from the dew and soaked with blood, it is clear that this young girl never came home from a night out. Lottie’s heart breaks as she thinks of the girl’s parents finding their daughter’s empty bed and she vows to catch the murderer.

The young woman is soon identified as Laura Nolan, and Lottie watches the blood drain from her mother Diana’s face when she tells her the terrible news. Diana reveals that Laura was on a date the night she was killed, but she doesn’t know who with… and Laura’s empty bedroom with make-up scattered across her dressing table offers no clues.

Lottie and her team rush to trace Laura’s last moments. But hope at a potential breakthrough turns to horror for Lottie when another young woman, Shannon Kenny, is reported missing, last seen climbing into a taxi with a broken light, close to the same bar.

But then, Lottie discovers a connection between Laura and Shannon that totally overturns everything she thought she knew. The killer didn’t stalk these two young women at random. He knew exactly who they were and where they would be. But can Lottie stop him before he strikes again?

A good story that appealed to me thanks to:
- Interesting personal storyline for Detective Lottie and boyfriend Boyd and their families;
- Shifting POV between police, victims and criminals;
- Complex investigation with villain reveal only at climax;
- Suspense of whether any of the victims can be rescued in time;
- Good writing that's fast-paced, stays on track and is low on introspection, high on action.

On the down side, it was a bit long and I guessed the mastermind behind the kidnapping and murders fairly early in the story (though the author did a good job distracting attention and keeping their identity hidden).

The woman is identified as Laura Nolan, a young mother with a little boy. When Lottie speaks to her mother Diana, She, is told that Laura was on a night out with someone she met. But she doesn’t know who the person is.
When another woman on a night out Shannon Kenny disappears, they find out that there is a connection to the dead woman. They both members of the same dating agency. Is the same person responsible. They speed up the investigation to find her before she too ends up dead.
This is another complex case for Lottie and her team that keeps you guessing throughout. I also like that the author has included her personal life with Boyd and her family and her mother’s dementia it makes the story feel more real.
This is another unputdownable read that I could get enough of. And I can’t wait to read more of Lottie’s and her team antics in the next book.

I can't believe we're on book 14. I love Lottie so much. Another fast paced and edge of the seat read, it was always one more chapter!

Lottie and the Team are investigating the death of a young woman who seems to not have made it home after a night out. When trawling the CCTV in the area they discover someone unexpected near to the body and the team are on the lookout for him. When another young woman goes missing the team fear there's a connection there somewhere. It's a twisty read & I honestly didn't know who the killer was!

As ever love hearing about Lottie's personal life and Boyd, after all this time you really feel like you are part of the family. A brilliant read which I highly recommend. 5*

Not long after Laura Nolans body is discovered, Shannon Kenny, another young woman, is reported missing after not returning home from a night out. Lottie and her team soon find out that these two women weren't randomly selected, they share a connection and were stalked and taken as someone is out for revenge. With one young woman dead and another missing the team race to find Shannon before it's too late.

I'm a massive fan of the Lottie Parker book series, I've read all the books in the series so I was delighted to be approved this ARC for the next book in the series and it was just as brilliant as the last 13 books. As usual, Patricia Gibney does an excellent job storytelling with multiple Pov's from the characters to tell this chilling story. An action packed, page turner that I highly recommend. I would definitely recommend reading a few books from series before reading book 14, just to get familiar with all the characters and their stories.

Puzzle master!

The latest addition to the Detective Lottie Parker series will have you gripped trying to fit all the puzzle pieces together. With no clear motive for three deaths and a missing person, and potential connection between each of them, the team search for any detail about the victims' lives. As the links are made and the puzzle pieces start to fall into place, leading them to further clues, this story will have captive to the end to find out the killer's motive.

Lottie continues to be cantankerous, and while she is rather snappy with Boyd, he also has the ability to even out her moods. Once again, it is like a dance of one two steps forward, one step back for them and their relationship, blending their families and dealing with the pressures of that come with family.

Great read. Love the way a series of seemingly random crimes, situations are all interconnected, like points on a spiders web . Lottie and her team are in the middle pulling at the threads to connect everything. So well written with a carefully constructed storyline. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I usually know within the first couple of chapters how much I’m going to enjoy a book but I knew within the first 2 pages that this was one I was going to struggle to put down. There are not enough words for how much I enjoyed this book. It was entertaining, clever and the narrative was stunningly intelligent. I couldn’t put it down I was captivated.

I was delighted to see that Patricia Gibney is releasing a further novel in the Lottie Parker series, and Her Last Walk Home is just as good as, if not better than, the rest of the series! Her Last Walk Home is the fourteenth book in the series, so now more than ever, Lottie and her family, and her team, feel like family to me. It felt so comfortable slipping back into their lives and spending time with them. In particular, I enjoyed catching up with Kirby in this novel. In the past, he's perhaps been one of the more difficult characters to warm to and get to know, but I really felt him come into his own in this story and I hope that continues.

There are so many different strands to this novel, and in the beginning, it did take me some time to get to grips with the different aspects of the story. However, Patricia Gibney is an amazing plotter and I was really intrigued by how so many different characters would be connected to each other. She's also brilliant at creating such a wide range of characters from young children who tug on my heartstrings to perpetrators that make me skin crawl, and this makes it really easy to become engaged in the novel. I found it really exciting to try and work out how everyone was involved.
I did think I had the twists worked out, but I was completely wrong all the way through!

Patricia Gibney is also extremely talented at writing the tense scenes in Her Last Walk Home that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. As I was reading, I often felt shivers up my spine or had to look over my shoulder! The chapters are short and usually end on a cliffhanger so it was really hard to put the book down at times!

Detective Lottie Parker has another case to investigate when the body of a young woman is found, seemingly having not returned from a night out. When another woman is reported missing, last seen climbing into a taxi, Lottie is shocked to discover a connection – these are not random events; the victims have been chosen for a reason. Can Lottie and her team find the killer before more young women find themselves in danger?

Fourteen books in and this is a series still going from strength to strength. In Her Last Walk Home, Patricia Gibney has written another page turner, this time with a subject matter that is always topical – the safety fears of women when out in public. This is particularly troubling for Lottie as she has two daughters of her own – could they be on the killer’s watch list?

Lottie’s personal life plays a pivotal role in the book and, as always, there is a good balance between this and the case. Her relationship with Boyd is as turbulent as ever with the two characters still unable to come to an agreement about their future despite their obvious love for each other. It was great to see the return of Boyd’s sister who comes with news of her own, her matter-of-fact ways giving the detective even more to worry about!

The plot progresses well with the author giving a few hints along the way to help you try to figure out the perpetrator. The ending was still a surprise, however – something I always like about Patricia Gibney’s books. Bring on book 15!

I love everything about this series; the cast of characters, the story arcs and the brilliant plots. This one was no exception and it felt good to catch up with Lottie et al. As a mother of three grown up daughters, this gave me chills. I had no idea who the culprit was, or why the abductions had taken place. A great, tense and exciting read.
