Let me start by saying, that I’ve read two other Lynn Painter books and have not enjoyed them much. This is my favorite Lynn Painter book I’ve read! (And yes, one of the ones I’ve read is in fact Better Than the Movies, and no, I do not agree with the hype, sorry. Just throwing that out there so we can hopefully still be friends 😬🤣)

I read this book SO fast. As in, I read it in less than a day. As a mom of three, I literally have never done that since I’ve had kids. So, this book is the most bingeable romcom ever and a quick read!

My favorite part of this book was the witty banter—it literally had me laughing out loud and was so clever and believable. Izzy and Blake’s connection was immediate and a little instalust-y, but I was here 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 it. I loved them, and was sad when for awhile there was a bit of enemies to lovers going on, but they switched to lovers pretty quickly.

My favorite thing about Lynn Painter’s books is that they’re all (well, assuming all, I’ve only read three) a love letter to Omaha, which is where I’m from. I adore all of these Easter eggs that only Nebraska natives would catch. And in this book, MY MIDDLE SCHOOL was mentioned by name! So crazy to see in a book!!

Some things I didn’t love: There’s a note from the author about how she never intended this to be a book at first, and it was originally written as chapters released to her newsletter readers. I will say that at times you can tell. In particular, the timeline of one event really threw me because it’s all messed up.

Also, this was kind of weird, but the amount of cursing was legitimately crazy over the top for no reason? I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that in a review before, but it is noteworthy here because it was seriously—so much.

This book is the perfect romcom palette cleanser if you need a fun and light read. It has some spice, but keeps it pretty mild.

I love this book and I am so glad it was slightly revamped and published. It is the most fun meet cute with the Lynn Painter banter that we love. I can't believe this all just came from a newsletter! I love the grumpy/sunshine and of course the elevator scene! Wowza!

I loved every second and the meeting of the FL & ML was everyting <3 Also can I just say the frequent take-out ordering reminded me of Gilmore Girls and I thought that was such a cute little detail to think of as a reader :')

If you want a quick and fun cute story, this one is perfect!!

This was a fun Lynn Painter book that was entertaining and lighthearted. It was very easy to read and get through and a perfect book for a vacation or quick escape. The characters were very likable but there wasn’t as much depth as I usually prefer…don’t get me wrong, this had the enemies to lovers, coworker romance…all the loved tropes but it lacked the backstories I’ve grown to love from most of her other novels, especially the YA ones. A highly entertaining, fluff read with spice and everything nice. 3.5 stars.

absolutely adored this book!!! i’m a sucker for lynn painter’s writing, and her rom coms are always witty, funny, and heartwarming. the characters are so lovable - their relationship is so cute, their banter is fun to read, and their relationships with their families and pets add an additional level of depth and comfort to the story.

What a freaking delight!!

Accidentally Amy by Lynn Painter was pure fun and joy from the very first chapter. I was giggling out loud at the hilarious meet cute of our two main characters, Mr. Chest (Blake) & Starbucks Amy (Izzy). Their banter was hilarious, and their chemistry was off the charts!

In the beginning I was slightly nervous that the entire premise was going to turn into one giant miscommunication, but Lynn did right by us all and eliminated that potential plot point right off the bat. The plot absolutely delivered, even if at times it was slightly cheesy (in all the right ways)!

Izzy is the most perfect messy FMC while Blake gives us the most delicious cinnamon bear of a MMC (once he finally lets himself fall). I loved the written text threads, the funny family cameos, the pumpkin spiced lattes, the weird cats and their various ailments (ha ha), and the overall FUN this book provided!

SPICE
There are several mildly spicy scenes in this one. None are overtly descriptive, but they are written to satisfy; Izzy and Blake’s connection is palpable.

HAPPY ENDING
I honestly didn’t know how Blake was going to redeem himself, but he pulled through in the end. These two definitely get a fun and spicy happy ending! Even the cats end up okay.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Accidentally Amy was originally released by Lynn as a “serial romcom for newsletter subscribers” before being compiled into a book, released in 2022. Lynn has shared that a few things really bothered her about the original, so it’s getting a re-release with additional content, dual POV, and is now in 1st person.

Whether you have read the first version or are hearing about this book for the first time, I know you will love it!

Accidentally Amy delivers all the swoony rom-com vibes you crave, complete with a stolen latte, a disastrous meet-cute, and an irresistible enemies-to-lovers slow burn.
Isabella Shay is relatable and endearing—an ambitious woman just trying to make it through her first day at her dream job when she steals a pumpkin spice latte (meant for “Amy”) to save herself from being late. Cue the charming chaos when she runs straight into Blake Phillips, a man so attractive he looks like he stepped out of a GQ spread, and promptly spills the stolen drink all over him. It's an awkward yet electric first encounter, and the sparks fly even higher when Izzy realizes Blake is not only hot, but also her new boss.
The tension between Blake and Izzy is sharp and witty, full of banter, missteps, and undeniable chemistry. Blake may come off as a grumpy VP, but there's more beneath his tough exterior, and watching their walls slowly come down makes for a delightful, slow-burn romance. The author excels at building the tension and making readers root for this unlikely pair to finally give in to their feelings.
While the premise is classic rom-com fun, the execution feels fresh, and the author adds an extra layer of heart to the story. Izzy’s honesty and Blake’s hidden vulnerability make for a relatable, sweet dynamic that balances out the flirty, laugh-out-loud moments.
If you love playful banter, office romance, and the thrill of a good misunderstanding, Accidentally Amy is the perfect rom-com treat. This is a fun, feel-good romance that will leave you with a smile!

I love Lynn’s YA romances but this was not it for me. They are grown adults acting like love-sick teenagers and it was a bit too cringey for me, starting with the fact that Izzy’s pet name for Blake was Mr Chest. Also found it a bit ridiculous how mad Blake got with Izzy for taking someone else’s exact same order (that she paid for) at Starbucks because they never claimed it & her order was going to make her late for her first day at a new job (where Blake was her boss). It is not that serious.

May be worth noting that although this was an ARC, with an additional 10k words added to the original story, the author did preface at the beginning that all of the spelling should be correct. However, it definitely was not as there were multiple instances where Blake was spelled as BlOke nevermind additional incorrect words and improper spelling.

I had the best time laughing my way through this book! Sometimes you just need a book that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s light-hearted, full of fun banter, a lovable hot-mess FMC (Lynn Painter’s specialty), a few spicy scenes, but also lotssss of humor. I especially loved Izzy and Blake’s witty text threads, the Chiefs shoutouts, and Blake’s genuine admiration of Izzy’s unpredictable, chaotic, wonderful mind.

This isn’t one of those deep, groundbreaking books I’ll think about every day of my life, but I had an absolute blast reading it! Lynn Painter, you have my heart!

This was a cutie little fall read! I love how Blake and Izzy met and their immediate banter and chemistry!! And then the drama of him being above her in their work org, gasp!! The awkwardness into friendship worked well and that friendship was just sooo sweet! This book could have used a little more depth but I really liked it for what it was! Very bingeable read! Grab a PSL and settle in!!

This is one of my favorite books and I’m so happy to see it traditionally published! And I LOVE seeing Ink and Laurel’s cover on another traditionally published book 🥹

There is quite nothing causal about Izzy and Blake and I loved every second of it. I loved how much they tried to be friends, and they were! They focused on their friendship, they got to know each other in the best ways. Izzy didn’t have a lot of friends, she didn’t know how to make friends, and then there was Blake wanting to make being friends work between them and she wasn’t going to give it up. And because of their friendship element, it made it so it wasn’t your typical office romance, boss/new employee who hate each other even though they actually love each other. We didn’t see a lot of their work place relationship, and I liked that so much.

Their banter was top tier! They were both so funny! Izzy had no filter and Blake needed that. It was a quick book and a quick timeline and I don’t always love that, but this was done perfectly. I think it’s because they focused so much on being friends first. And then of course when they went all in…perfect!

I love everything Lynn Painter writes. This wasn't my favorite of hers but still fully enjoyable. Shes the queen of romcoms

The book is so sweet. And Blake, a secret cinnamon roll, is a dream. I really enjoyed watching the main characters fall for one another and even though I knew how the book would end, it was nice to have an uncomplicated HEA.

What a fast and enjoyable reissue! I think the author self-published this, and it's being republished now that it's been edited and proofread! This book, in my opinion, is ideal for people looking for something light to read in between heavier works. The two characters have amazing chemistry, and their banter will definitely make you smile! Since it moves quickly, this might feel a little insta-love-ish to those who are more of the slow burn type. Still, this was such a FUN READ because I adore Lynn Painter's writing and she is a master at character dialogue! I need someone to have the same level of obsession with me that Blake has with Izzy!

anything lynn painter writes, i'm all in. i did love the fmc, she was a little chessy but is it a lynn painter book if there's no cheessy, over the top fmc with a love for romance??? nope. it's not my favourite of lynn painters as just felt it was a little cringey but it's not my favourite of hers.

3-3.5 🌟 for me. Loved the concept of a woman grabbing someone else’s coffee while waiting forever for her order and immediately spilling it on a super hot dude. And then running to said hot dude immediately afterwards on her first day at her dream job. And then finding out that he is, in fact, her new boss. 😬

And yet they have chemistry that radiates through the pages and witty banter for days. And super solid 🌶️ scenes too.

My only real issue is that it was a bit too insta-love and a bit unrealistic in my mind how a staunch rule follower would go so far against the grain and risk their job for someone they barely know. Felt a little contrived in that sense.

Overall a super fun read - an enjoyable palette cleanser.
