I was engaged until about the middle of the book. I enjoyed the odd family dynamic and Jack’s revelations but grew a little bored by the time spent on the reincarnation aspect. The big reveal was interesting but felt a little underwhelming because there seemed to be little explanation of the fallout. Also, the ending fell a little flat.
Did not see that twist coming! Definitely kept me engaged and wanting to keep reading the entire time. Loved the characters and how they developed! Highly recommend!
Kate's 4-year-old son Jack insists he used to be someone else who died tragically in a previous life. Initially Kate and her husband just think it's his imagination, but when Jack starts revealing memories from before he was born, Kate finds it hard not to believe him and needs to know the truth.
Told in two timelines which were easy to keep straight - 1) two years prior when Kate's father requests that she and her two sisters and their families come to the family lake house to meet his new friend. 2) present day with Kate being interviewed by 2 detectives after a fire at the lake house.
This was very well-written psychological thriller that kept me glued to the pages. I had a feeling about where things were going and was surprised my intuition was right about one of the twists since I am usually a terrible detective. This was my first Gregg Dunnett book but definitely won't be my last. 4 stars.
I was completely captivated by the suspenseful plot and complex characters. The story kept me guessing until the final page.
A brilliant read that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the very first page. A rollercoaster read from start to finish.
A gripping book, this story pulls you till the very end, I enjoyed reading it. I definitely will love to see more from the author
Interesting story of the possibilities of reincarnation and memories that bring truth out of lies.. interesting twists, lies, death…I was absorbed in reading it.
A creepy book which gave me chills. I enjoyed this but at times I had to walk away from it and read something else. A new author for me and one I'll be reading more of. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
First I want to give a huge shout out to Storm Publishing for providing me an ARC via Netgalley!
This book was absolutely amazing! It was a roller coaster of emotions throughout the entire book! I could not put it down, I needed explanations and to know what happened. It was gut wrenching, compassionate, and thrilling. I was so invested in everyone's back story and all my predictions were proven wrong, which I love. Reincarnation is such a unique and kind of taboo subject, but Dunnett represented it in such a beautiful way. It was interesting and I enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommend!!

The only surprise was the reveal of the Dad’s plan at the beginning and the affair reveal at the end. Everything else was frustratingly predictable and had me waiting for a twist because it couldn’t possibly have been this obvious?
This was amazing, loved the unique story line and of course the twists, so so good!
Thank you for the opportunity to read!
I really liked this book. It had me on the edge of my seat! I knew how the end would go, but I didn’t know why. There was a twist at the end that I absolutely did not see coming. Looking back on it, I still don’t know that I would have guessed it. It was so artfully done. Another thing I really enjoyed about this book was the structure. Dunnett employed an interesting strategy of starting at the end and having the entire book be an interrogation with flashbacks throughout. I was really impressed with how well the flashbacks were integrated. Flashbacks are easy to mess up or pull a reader out of the story, and this book did none of that. It was excellent. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future!
Huge thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!
My first read by Gregg Dunnett and it definitely won't be the last!! Read in one sitting, absolute page turner and gripped me till the very end! Recommend to any thriller lovers to pick this book up
This was the first I've read by this author, but wow, I'll certainly be looking for more.
Great character development, with a slow buildup to a great ending that I could never have predicted. I would definitely recommend this book.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Paranormal reincarnation vibes! Kate's son swears he remembers his past life. By the way - he is FOUR! He shares stories from what he witnessed at the family lake house which leads Kate to dig in more.
I was engaged, fast paced - would read more from this author!
This is the perfect spooky season read! You have a child who knows things he shouldn't and is saying things he shouldn't. This book is fast paced like a thriller but a couple of times I found myself spooked. I love this book and highly recommend, it will make you think.
I think this is the first Gregg Dunnett book i've read and i will look for more. I was gripped from.beginning too end and dragged into the story i wanted to know what happened and the way its written it just keeps you in suspense all the way through its like your there sitting across from kate feeling all her emotions and not knowing what to believe and when it all came too a head wow i suspected but didnt see certain things happening.
This is the first book I have read by Gregg Dunnett but it certainly will not be the last. I was immediately drawn in . This was so well written and intriguing I couldn't out it down 5/5 on every front for me one of my favorite reads of the year
This author is amazing! It was brilliantly written and me hooked from the start! I have recommended this book to those in my book club.
What happens when your toddler starts insisting that they are someone else entirely, your dead nephew to be exact?
The thriller opens up in the police interrogation room trying to get to the bottom of how a massive fire claiming 4 lives was started.
This one was twisty and convoluted and the characters had many layers. I really enjoyed that this story was told in the past by the means of explaining the tale to the cops. It brought us a number of layers and the officers asked the questions that a reader probably asks themselves while they are reading offering a way to have the questions answered that you are already asking.
Great book and will read more of Gregg Dunnett in the future.
