The Wife Swap by Jack Heath is another excellent and thrilling read from Heath, who pulls together another insane, yet highly clever, mystery that you really cannot put down.
I loved the well fleshed out characters and found them to be entertaining.
They were vivid and actually believable.
The story itself was decent, there was a wonderful atmospheric and suspenseful tone set.
A quick and interesting read that I enjoyed.
Thank You NetGalley and Embla Books for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Thanks to #NetGalley and #EmblaBooks for the book #TheWifeSwap by #JackHeath. Three couples decide to go on a weekend vacation. No kids. During one of their nights drinking they decide to play truth or dare. During the game it gets brought up the idea of switching partners. Game on! But one of the husbands turn up dead and the killer has to be among them. Who would do this? Who survives? Loved this risqué book and all the drama and murder. Never saw it coming!
It was difficult to get into this book but once you got all the characters straight and figured out what was going on it picked up and was a much more enjoyable read. It had all the things I love in a good thriller. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.
Once I had got over the confusion of characters and I got into the darkness and danger had me hooked.
I really liked the premise of the book and it did keep me on my toes, it was slightly confusing in parts making it hard to
follow but once i got over that i did enjoy the story
This book hooked me from the start. I have yet to read a book with this type of plot. Made me think that this happens in real life. The twists throughout held my attention till the final one at the end.
Before reading this book the thought of a few days away in a remote mountain house for a weekend, disconnecting from the world with no internet or cell reception I would have jumped at the chance, after finishing this book it’s a mmmmmm not for me 🫣
It took me a while to get my head wrapped around who was married to who (ended up writing it on a post it note and sticking it to the bottom of my kindle)
I loved Jacks’s writing style, this book is written in multiple POV’s which is my jam. As the book really got juicy the chapters were left on cliff hangers, at points I gasped and had chills!
The story goes from current to past timeline, Kiara the detective investigating the murders even takes her partner Elise to the house for a weekend, partly to try to help Elise relax but also see if she could get any further prospective as to who’s/whys of the murders. Little did she realise Elise would go into full on detective mode herself, let’s just say what she discovers is shocking 😳
Safe to say really enjoyed this book, the murderer was not on my radar at all, I will absolutely be reading more of Jacks work.
Thank you NetGalley, Jack Heath and Embla Books for this ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.
Initially, I really struggled to get to grips with this book. The beginning was very slow for me and didn't grip me at all. The time lines from multi person perspectives and timelones were very confusing and at times I felt like I'd missed something I should known about. I'm glad I stuck with it though, the ending kept me guessing!
There was a lot going on in this book. Lots of twists and turns. I wasn’t keen on the way it was written, I am all for seeing things from another person’s perspective but the timeline seemed all over the place for me.
Since reading this I have found out that there is another book which comes before this one. Although this can be read as a standalone book I personally felt I would have benefitted from the back story of certain characters which would explain why they were acting as they did. I am sure others will enjoy this but unfortunately this was not for me.
3⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and Embla Books for an advanced copy of The Wife Swap.
This book follows three couples who decide to take a weekend getaway trip together to a secluded house in the mountains. Each couple has their own set of secrets and struggles and it only gets further complicated when these couples decide to swap partners for a night. One by one people start getting murdered and everyone is a suspect and seems to have a motive. Can anyone make it out alive?
This book was difficult to follow in the beginning with so many different characters. I will say that it did get better and more interesting at the end of the book and I have to say I did not see the twist coming.
The premise of this book sounded so interesting, but for me it was entirely too confusing. I just couldn't get into it at all. I tried and tried but it was so difficult to follow that it did not hold my attention. I had to DNF.
This book kept me on my toes, it made me think and be a detective along with the main character! Would love to see more with detective Kiera! I thought I had the ending figured out and then was shocked I was wrong. 10/10 would recommend this book and author!
What the what did I just read?! This was an A++ read for me! This was one turn after another and I could not put it down! Turn off the lights, No peaking!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. I got confused a bit during this read. I definitely didn't see the twist coming. Lots of secrets in this book. I had no clue who to trust!
Wife Swap is about 3 couples who go away on a weekend Holiday in the Australian Outback . 2 people are dead and 1 is missing. Detective Kiara Lui must figure out what happened and find the missing person because they might be the missing piece . She takes her partner Elise away for the weekend to the murder house where this unsolved case becomes even weirder as things go bump in the night as they stay there.
Absolutely yes! This kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next! Just when you thought you had it figured out something else would happen and blow up my theory. I would definitely love a Kiara and Elise series
Thank you NetGalley and Embalma books! Would definitely read more by Jack Heath
This book sounded so promising, but I just couldn't bring myself to push through til the end, tapping out at 20%. I found the storyline very confusing, difficult to follow, and not at all attention grabbing.
I am appreciative of NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review. Unfortunately, it was a DNF for me, which I very rarely do.
A unique premise, three couples go for a getaway weekend … a partner swap is agreed upon and 3 of the group are dead by the end of the weekend. Well written, the story kept me interested, the characters were well developed, a couple I liked, a couple I did not. It was enjoyable that the detective in the case had her own story line, which was equally interesting, Both had endings I was not expecting, and a great twist that ties things together at the end is always welcome. Although the wife swap idea isn’t one I like .. it was an interesting read. I’d recommend it!
4.35 stars- first of all, thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me an ARC of the wife swap in exchange for an honest review:)
this book was such a delightful surprise! i had never read any of jack heath’s other novels before so i had no idea what to expect but i am pleased to say i thoroughly enjoyed the book? the wife swap is honestly a breath of fresh air in the thriller/mystery genre i was so shocked with most of the plot twists and i was HOOKEDDDD to find out what happens next to say the least. without giving anything away, i hated all the men in this book lol and i like that all the characters were flawed in some way (which makes it hard to root for them sometimes lmfao but i guess that’s life x). (justice for two of the main female characters in this book if ykyk wtf) the pacing and writing of this book were perfect so i have no notes. this is definitely a lovely read for anyone who wants an easily digestible and intriguing mystery! would highly recommend:)
Three couples, who have been friends for years, decide to take a weekend away together, and have a catch up on what's happening in their lives. They meet up at a remote retreat, high in the mountains, ideal for hiking. Eating, drinking and relaxing is an enjoyable start to the weekend, until someone makes an innocent remark about swapping partners. Somehow the idea takes root and grows. Plans are made, rooms are chosen at random, and all lights remain off so no one really knows for certain who their partner is. It is meant to be all in fun, nothing serious, until one of the men ends up dead.
No one is willing to speak about anything they know, and suspicions grow about who the killer is. They all decide to get in the car and go to the nearest police station, but no one can find car keys. There is no signal for mobile phones, and they find the land line unusable. Suddenly, they are all unsure who is actually friend, enemy or murderer.
I really enjoyed this, the author is new to me, but I can highly recommend this book. The plot kept me turning the pages with its twists and turns, and the ending was a surprise to me.
I was unsure about this book in the beginning. It started out confusing to me in the beginning.
BUT.... Once I got about half way in, it had me thinking I knew who was behind the murders only to be wrong over and over. I DIDN'T ever guess the person behind this entire story.
Again, I love books that follow the main character through their professional and personal life. This book did that very well. A good mix of both sides.
This was overall a good read! I enjoyed!
Thank you Embla Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
