Great sampler and kept me very intrigued for more! I cannot wait to pick up a copy of the full collection.
Give me more! I can't wait to read the full copy of this book. The teaser wasn't enough!
Clark is capable of eliciting emotions within me that I didn't think were there. There's always something deeply unsettling, yet oddly healing and relatable about her texts.
A sampler that made me wish I could read the rest of the book. Excellent style of writing and storytelling.
Highly recommended.
This was a very small sample so difficult to apply to the whole book. I was very intrigued by what I read though! I'm looking forward to the whole collection
Thanks for the sample NetGalley and Eliza Clark.
The cover is intriguing and it made me want to read it immediately
In only 20 pages Eliza Clark has reaffirmed to me that she is one of the most original and interesting authors I have read. I would have loved to read her full collection, since it would have given some more context to the sample. As others have mentioned it’s hard to give an honest review for a book, when you’ve only read a 20 pages sample.
And whilst it was definitely fascinating and had me hooked, I definitely wanted more from it in regards to the story.
In 20 pages of this sampler Eliza Clark has reaffirmed to me for the third time that she is one of the most original, funny and slightly disturbing authors writing in the UK today. I can't wait to read the whole collection and my only criticism is that I wish this sampler gave more to read, as its quite hard to honestly rate a book without the full text.
I'm hungry for more! So excited that Clark is doing events around the UK for the release of this collection. I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Not really sure what I just read and the writing made my brain hurt. As someone who hasn't yet but wants to read something by Eliza Clark, this probably wasn't the best sample, but I'm still slightly intrigued??
Fan of Boy Parts and just loved this sample of She's Always Hungry, not sure what was going on tbh but very entertaining
I have no idea what I just read but I'm definitely intrigued to read more! Looking forward to this whole book coming out.
Absolutely brilliant, loved it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me an advance copy, I will definitely be recommending.
Ohh I was fooled again and thought the netgalley was for the whole book and I was so excited! I must remember to check this before applying as it has happened twice now with Eliza Clark books!!
The cover is sublime and it made me want to read it immediately. Unfortunately this sampler is only one story from the short story collection "The Shadow Over Little Chitaly", and whilst it was definitely good and had me hooked - I wanted more from it in regards to creepiness. It was certainly weird and uncomfortable, which I loved, but I wanted to be a little bit spooked or creeped out too - like how the cover makes you feel.
I do think I will still one day read the entire collection.
This short story was hilarious, I don't know what I was expecting but this was definitely not it!! This story is composed of reviews of a very bizarre restaurant, sometimes chinese, others indian and others italian.
This was my first time reading Eliza Clark and now I need to read everything that she has ever published!!
After reading the sampler, I'm even more excited for the book. Funny, weird and a bit wild. What more do you want? Can't wait!
This short “story” is mad and so funny. It’s not exactly a story as it’s a pile of reviews about a very strange take away but one individual keeps going back for more! Definitely would read more!
The short story was good. Basically a bunch of restaurant reviews which reveal a story, which I thought was a fun method of writing. Definitely felt like reading more and got a little scared at the end. Excited for the full book.
Not sure I got this. I'm sure it'd be more intriguing in the context of the wider book, but I think a more cohesive story would have been a better sampler for the full text.
Didn't realise this was just a sample of She's Always Hungry and I started reading it and was DEVASTATED when it ended and I realised it wasn't the whole book because I was so into it! I love Eliza Clark so was extremely excited for this anyway but now I'm absolutely rabid for November to come so I can get my hands on this!
I hadn't noticed that this was only a sample lol. It's the first thing I have ever read from Eliza Clark. I thought it was a really fun and unique format, and I got really invested in the reviews and seeing what unhinged thing would happen next. I'd love to read more of the stories in here
Sampler was alright the formatting was a bit odd so it threw me off. don't think this book is for me so I won't be going on to purchase the book
