A very sweet and short summer read. It was fun to follow all the different tropes Jane tries out. And the ones Walker just happens to do anyway. I worried that it would be too insta lovey, but the pacing was done well. Done in duet narration, this audiobook was a great experience. I loved the narrators. They did a wonderful job. This was a great start to a series and I will be reading more.

*3.5

Thoughts on the book: I enjoyed the story; I thought the plot was well-developed and the book gave me summer vibes. I didn't really like that Jane held herself to a contract that she and her best friend made when they were 12. Like, you're adults now? Other than that bit, I thought the story was well-written.

Thoughts on the audio: This is a rare instance when I would say to read the physical book rather than listening to the audiobook. Both narrators felt a bit robotic with their voices and there was a reverb on lots of words. It was also weird to me that the male narrator would narrate the male POV as well as any male characters while the female narrator would read the female POV as well as any lines spoken by a female character regardless of which POV the chapter was in (hopefully that makes sense).

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Jane is using all her favorite romance tropes to try to find a boyfriend on the small town island she grew up on. I love that she has history with all of the men she tries to date because they live in such a small town. She knew them when they were kids and now she's trying to find "the one" out of all these guys she's never looked at like that before. A cute concept! However, the one guy she's forbidden to date is her best friend's brother. And swoon, he's a professional golfer who is back in town because he's off his game. Turns out being hard to get is working for her!

I've never read anything by this author before, but after enjoying this one, I'll add more to my list!

If you like:
Quirky female main characters
Sports romance - golf
Dual POV, 2 narrators
Best friend's older brother, forbidden romance
Teasing banter
Closed door romance

Jane isn’t having much luck finding love, so she has decided to test out various romance tropes that work in books. The problem is as she tries to go on dates using the tropes, her 7th grade crush and now professional golfer, Walker Collins, keeps showing up. He’s on to her schemes and doesn’t make things easy for Jane. The more Jane forces her romance tropes- the more she seems to be naturally falling for Walker. Can Jane accept that true love is right in front of her?

Walker and Jane will make you swoon and laugh out loud at the their antics. The first book in the Falling for Summer Series.

Read by Amanda Friday and Andy Harrington. These two brought Jane and Walker to life to deliver an entertaining audiobook. You will definitely want to add this audio to your collection.

This book was so cute! I loved this small island town and the close knit community. Jane and Walker were a hilarious couple and I could not wait for them to finally get together! This book had me giggling at Jane’s antics and her drive to use romance literally tropes in real life to jump start her own happily ever after. I loved how Jane tried so hard to use these tropes to start a romantic relationship, it was hilarious and made Walker dreamy when he played into all of them and went along with making these tropes happen in real life.

Oh, I loved this audiobook so much. Listening to SUMMER EVER AFTER reminded me of how much I loved reading it for the first time and why I loved this book so much. The characters are so well done. And the humor is so perfect.

This is such a great series! It's so funny and sweet.

As I listened, it was fun hearing the names of characters whose books I read and I could picture their stories and their HEA. (Beau, Holland, Cat, Noah, Dax, Phoenix). All the names! I still need to read Capri’s book and I can’t wait.)

Do I sound like a broken record yet? Best series ever!

The narrators do an amazing job. They added a fun vibe to this wonderful book. Their expression was perfect and they made me love this book even more (I didn’t that was even possible!) as I laughed and sighed all over again.

Thank you to the author and the publisher for the NetGalley link!

I’m a sucker for a book that acknowledges and winks at book tropes. In this delightful romcom we have Jane, an employee in the mayor’s office on Sunset Island, off the coast of Florida. They don’t know what the town would do without her vast knowledge and abilities to execute things like the annual 4th of July celebration, and thankfully they’ll never have to find out because she adores it here and is never leaving the island.

Unfortunately, that has also made Jane’s dating pool a bit limited — and, with famous country singer parents who have moved to Nashville and are rarely around, she’s starting to feel alone in life. She decides it’s going to be The Summer of Jane Hayes. She writes a long list of romance tropes, which she knows well because her best friend is secretly a well-known romance writer publishing under a pen name, and is going to execute on each of them with different men on the island, whom she is asking out in an effort to find out who is meant for her. Hilarity ensues when most of these efforts go horribly wrong. This romcom really does bring the com.

And then there is Walker. Her best friend’s brother is not on her list, first because of the best friend code, obviously, but also because he has moved away from the island to follow his dreams as a golf pro, which makes him ineligible because she’s never leaving the island. But she’s had a crush on him since grade school, and he just keeps hanging around. Can The Summer of Jane have a happy ending?

These characters are absolute delights! At first I thought Jane was going to annoy me. She’s really earnest and extra, not just a little (and the audiobook narrator understands the assignment). Her tropes include choking at the table so her date will have to save her, for instance. But she looooves love and is so darn hopeful and genuine, you can’t help but root for her. Walker, a onetime Masters champion who has fallen on rough times, is sure of himself without crossing the line into unlikable, and a genuinely good guy. I loved them both and all of the supporting characters, save for a few of the losers Jane attempted to date.

This is one of a series; although I think they’re not all written by the same author, all take place on the island with the island characters. I would definitely give another a try, but I like this author‘s voice a lot. Such a fun read! Thank you so much, #NetGalley #DreamscapeMedia and #KortneyKeisel for the audiobook. This one is now available!

This is great light-hearted, summer romance! Both narrators were enjoyable and played the parts well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a closed-door, best friend's brother romance. Thanks for the read!

I listened to this on audio and it was very well done! It was engaging and I laughed out loud often. I managed to walk over my step goal each day because I was so invested and didn’t want to stop listening. This series has everything I look for in a summer read- fun characters, charming town, realistic love story. This installment was great! My thanks to the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Kortney Keisel sets up the Falling for Summer series so well with her book, Summer Ever After. We begin with an introduction of the island and the residents there. Our heroine, Jane, gives us a nice little tour of all the single men on the island and it made me so excited to read the rest of the series! I have a feeling you’ll want to read this book to start the series right.

Summer Ever After was written for romance readers and I was here for it!! Jane is a hopeless romantic and is determined to find her happily ever after in any way she can! It is chuck full of all the tropes and it is sure to make you laugh and swoon.

Kortney is not afraid to write FMCs that are maybe a little difficult to like at first. Jane makes some embarrassing decisions at the beginning of book, but she admits that some of the things she does are ridiculous and you still can’t help but root for her and love her all the same. The dual POV definitely helps because Walker is crushing big time and I LOVED it!

Walker is the best! There is so much more to him than just being a professional golfer and I loved seeing the layers of his personality. He really was a walking romance trope! He is so stinking swoony and I loved watching him and Jane together.

I listened to the audio and it such an enjoyable way to reread. The duet narration was SUPERB with every female voice read by the female narrator and every male quote read by the male narrator. It felt so immersive and I loved both narrators!

This book had so many humorous moments and fun scenes. I highly recommend picking it up.

⭐️ 3.75/5. This is a great book for people who love romance troupes and don’t mind a little cringe 😂 The FMC, Jane, has decided that she is determined to fall in love this summer through re-enacting romance troupes with the men in her town. The problem is, none of the plans she made go smoothly. And to make matters worse, a lot of the troupes begin happening naturally with her best friend’s older brother, Walker, who Jane has had a crush on since middle school. However, dating him goes against the friend code she made with her best friend when they were 13, and he’s a pro golfer who doesn’t live in Sunset Harbor.

This book has really funny moments that definitely make you cover your face and say “whyyyyyy?”, while also having some total swoon-worthy moments.

One critique I have is that the plot definitely had similarities to Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey. Plot points like a cocky pro golfer who loses his touch and a woman helps him get it back.

Other than that, there were a few spots where the plot dragged a little, but overall it was a fun read! I look forward to continuing the series.

Jane + Walker. I love you both. The island vibes, the progolfer and sweet Jane who is just trying to help her grandmother. What is there no to love about this!?

I ate this book up in a single sitting!

Falling in love is easy. Finding the right guy to spend happily ever after with is the hard part. But Jane has a foolproof plan. She's taking the tropes that work in romance books and applying them to her love life. But the more she tries to force romance, the more feelings naturally progress with the one man who's off limits, Walker Collins, her best friend's brother.

Jane was one of those sunshiny characters that doesn't have a terrible past. She had loving parents who had a fairytale romance of their own (featuring the only one bed trope) and were still together. So of course she'd want a beautiful love story of her own.

Testing out microtropes to see which one would instigate her HEA was hilarious to see. When they backfired and Walker was there to witness it all, it drove her nuts.

Having intense chemistry with her secret childhood crush had her living in denial. She felt like it'd be a betrayal to her best friend who would be used numerous times by other girls back in the day to get closer to her brother. She also loved Sunset Harbor and Walker wasn't living there what with his pro golf career.

Walker decided to help her find her love match but even that backfired on him 😂 They did finally find their way to each other and made it work.

I enjoyed the dual narration on this audio as well. Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This contains a review of the audiobook.

Summer Ever After is the first book in the Falling For Summer series. This is a set of 7 books written by different authors set on a fictional island, Sunset Harbor. Each is a standalone story that has some crossover characters and events.

Kortney sets the stage with a fun twist on romcoms. We have our female lead determined to fall in love by dating using different tropes from romance books. I had read some of the other books in this series before this one that starts the series. I enjoyed seeing some of those events in this story.

The audiobook is done in one of my favorite ways. It is read in duet style. This is where the narrators read all of the dialog for their respective genders. The 2 narrators that read this book are not usually my favorites. They have read several romcoms that I have listened to and their cadences don't really change. It makes many of these stories run together and the characters don't stand out in my mind. I get them all confused often. I will say that this was one of the better books I have listened to that this duo has narrated. I think the duet does help because each of the narrators don't have to worry about doing voices for the opposite gender.

I think Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Not my favorite of the series I’ve listened to. A bit to cliche and cringy for me. But still loved the banter and friendships of the story.

4.5 Stars

Summer Ever After, by Kourney Keisel, is the first of the seven part Falling for Summer series of non-explicit contemporary romantic comedy books published by a variety of authors. This series takes place on a fictional island in Florida called Sunset Harbor. I read two of the subsequent books in the series before reading this one, but the books have overlapping/intertwining timelines so it doesn't really matter what order you read them in. The characters in each book are endearing and will make you want to read them all!

Jane is a native of Sunset Harbor and plans to live and work there the rest of her life. She loves working for the Mayor's office, and is involved with all the city events. However, despite her active social life, she is lonely and wants to find her true love. Her desperate hope is that she will stumble into love through a classic romantic comedy/book trope. It was hilarious hearing her discuss all the common tropes that romance readers are familiar with. What Jane didn't expect was to reconnect with her lifelong crush Walker, aka her best friend's brother, at the beginning of the summer. Walker agrees to help Jane find a love match, and in doing so, ends up falling in love with her.

This was a fun, lighthearted book. There were a few cheesy moments as Jane attempts dating several guys on the island, but the friend-to-lover element of the book was believable.

Lovers of romance books and romantic comedy movies will enjoy the nods to well known scenes and tropes. The audiobook was dual POV with both male and female voices. I really enjoyed the alternating voices when each gender spoke; it made it feel like a real conversation. The voices used aligned well with the personalities of the characters.

Content: Clean, kisses only. No swearing.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the complementary ARC copy of this audiobook. My opinions are my own and are in no way influenced by the publisher.

Basic info:
- Contemporary romcom.
- Dual POV, 1st person, single timeline.
- Part of a series of standalone books written by different authors

What to expect:
- No spice
- Summer vibes
- Best friend's brother
- Golfer MMC
- FMC is obsessed with reading romance and romance tropes.
- Many, many romance tropes
- Small town

Synopsis and my opinion:
This book follows Jane (FMC) who lives in a small town and hosts a book club in a home for elderies. This summer she has decided to find her love using the best romance tropes, so she categorizes all the candidates by tropes and hopes for the best. On the other hand, we have Walker (MMC) a pro golfer who returned home to get his golf mojo back. Jane used to have a crush on Walker when they were young, he is her brother's best friend after all. So while Jane tries all the tropes, Walker manages to ruin almost all of them or maybe not so much ruin? This was an easy, sweet, and funny read. If you are a romance reader you'll have a lot of fun with all the tropes. A perfect book to read on vacation and you'll probably be even able to read in one or two sittings. Is it anything innovative or unforgettable? Not really, but it's still a lot of fun.

The audio:
The audio was good and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook, I didn't have any complaints about any of the narrators.

I received an ALC in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to everyone involved in ALC distribution.

I absolutely loved listening to this, however i was a bit off by Amanda Friday voice. Other than that this read is a very good one when you just want to escape.

Summer Ever After is the first book in the multi-author Falling for Summer series. The series is set on fictional Sunset Harbor Island, off the coast of Florida. The stories are closed-door romantic comedies (no sex or profanity) told in dual POV.

27-year-old Jane Hayes is the daughter of country music stars Tucker Hayes and Loretta Lee. She has lived her entire life on Sunset Harbor and is lonely now that her parents and best friend, Capri, have moved off the island. Jane works as the City Administrator, under the Mayor. She started a book club at the Seaside Oasis Retirement Center out of boredom. Now she has decided that she wants to get married and should use romantic tropes to connect with the few age-appropriate single men on the island.

28-year-old Walker Collins is a professional golfer who has returned to the island after being away for 10 years. After injuring his back last year, he is struggling with his game and wants to reconnect with his first coach, Luca. He has fired his manager and is skipping out on the Masters Tournament while he tries to get in the right mental state to compete. Walker is staying at his parents’ home while they are in Europe for the summer.

Jane is surprised to run into Walker, her best friend's older brother and the guy she has had a secret crush on since seventh grade. However, he has always been off-limits because he is her best friend's older brother and lives off the island. She tries to date every single man on the island but keeps bumping into Walker, with hilarious results. Naturally Capri has to interfere with their budding relationship, as if they don’t already have obstacles to a romance.

The best thing about Summer Ever After is the banter between Jane and Walker. The very real scenario of a professional athlete having both physical injuries and mental struggles is an excellent plot point. The residents of the Seaside Oasis Retirement Center add extra humor to the story. On the negative side, I found Jane’s sudden desire to get married by the end of the year immature and desperate. So many characters in the Falling for Summer series are introduced that I had to take notes. I understand that the books can be read in any order, but introducing everyone in Summer Ever After is harder on the reader.

I enjoyed listening to the dual-narrated Summer Ever After. The narrators, Amanda Friday and Andy Harrington, do an outstanding job giving life to Jane and Walker. I‘m looking forward to reading and listening to additional titles in the Falling for Summer series.

After purchasing the ebook from Amazon, I received an advance review copy (ARC) of the audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

“Walker Collins is a walking romance trope. Nothing has ever been so annoying and so satisfying at the same time.”

* Ah I love these romance loving characters
* Not the all these old ladies 😂
* The secondhand embarrassment!
* Oh my gosh I am cackling at all the ridiculous situations Jane gets herself into.
* This is all just too much I am dying 🤣
* Please no he’s gonna read her favorite book!
* Awww he’s so tender and I love it
* No! Don’t be a dummy!
* The way I cheered at the British open!
* Just awwwww!

Jane Hayes is basically me but funnier. I love the Summer of Jane Hayes and all of her attempts at making the tropes come to life. She is so fun and spunky and she made me laugh.

Do I love Walker Collins? Yes I do. He’s a charmer and makes me want to find a hot golfer 😏 I loved how he opened up to his family and let Jane help him.

Sunset Harbor is my new favorite place and I wish it was real! All the people who live there are hilarious and I can’t wait to see them in the books to come.

“Anyway, thank you for the Heimlich.”

“Because when you finally figure out who you want to spend the rest of your life with, the rest of your life can’t start soon enough.”

“I’ve never wanted anything more. Jane Hayes is my future and my forever.”

Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC. All opinions are my own.
