The book was beautifully written. The author made careful word choices that were very impactful. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it.
This book is packed with all kinds of neat information about robots! Dr. Henny Admoni tells us about robots from all the way back in 400 BCE to robots now, and even what robots might be like in the future.
So, what is a robot?
"A robot is a machine that can sense what's around it, plan what to do based on that information, and act on that plan."
In this book, we learn about the hardware, which is a robot's physical body and software, which acts as a robot's electronic brain. We learn about all kinds of different materials robots can be made from, what programming languages are often used to help them reason, and different parts of the hardware that make up their bodies.
Dr. Admoni shares with us all kinds of jobs that robots can do and ways they help humans. We tend to reserve dull, dirty, and dangerous tasks for robots, but they're capable of so many awesome things.
There are underwater robots, space robots, robots that help during disaster situations, robots in war, factory robots, medical robots, delivery robots, service robots, and even household robots. They can help with gardening, cleaning, and tutoring or during surgery, wildfires, and even nuclear meltdowns!
Robots can aid us in so many amazing ways!
And just in case you're thinking about building a robot of your own one day, the book offers some important questions you can ask yourself to help your new robot to best accomplish its purpose.
"Robots: Explore the World of Robots and AI" is a nonfiction children's book by Neon Squid, Dr. Henny Admoni.
This is a review of the audiobook narrated by Daniel Henning. The audiobook is 1 hr 15 min. long at 1.0 speed.
This book covers the history of robots, what robots are, the AI, what robot bodies are made from, uses, and roles in society.
Common software programming languages for robots include Python, C++, and Java.
Drones are aerial robots. A drone light show with many drones uses centralized control.
Robots are particularly good for use in dull, dirty, or dangerous jobs. For example, sewer inspection, rovers on other planets, and sending them into disaster zones to find survivors.
There is a ton of information in this book. It's a good book for kids interested in robots. It is current info, but things change fast in the world of computers, AI, and robots, so it won't be current for very long.
Thank you to Netgalley, MacMillan Audio, MacMillan Young Listeners, and Neon Squid, Dr. Henny Admoni for providing this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This was such an interesting book and I cannot wait to buy the physical copy for my classroom. There is so much information packed in this one that is presented in a fun and exciting way. I can see my students going back into this book numerous times to memorize these facts. Robots are such a fun subject and I can see students being inspired to go into a robotics field after reading this one.
This was an interesting book full of facts about what robots are, what they do, some of the kinds of robots that exist today, and some that might exist in the future. I thought it was a good broad introduction to the topic.
