I love this series and anytime I can get an ARC from J.D. Robb I am totally stoked! Dallas and crew do not disappoint in this latest installment! J.D. Robb hits it out of the park again! I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out to see what the gang gets up to!

I love this series and have since the first one I read years ago! I don't think I will ever tire of Eve and Roarke and the gang! This one starts with a visit of a trip to the Down and Dirty when there is a murder of one of the brides at their pre-wedding party. There are many twists and turns to find the true meaning to this murder but never fear, Eve will and does figure it all out.

No matter how many books end up in this series, I will forever keep reading. Dallas is one of my favorite characters of all time and the side character are always entertaining.

As usual, I was hooked from the beginning by the narrator. She makes the story come to life and with Robb's writing, I can picture the story folding out like a movie.

Will forever recommend these books!

J.D. Robb never disappoints! Book #59 in this series proves again why this is one of my favorite series. Five stars for the latest installment!

Eve is called down to the Down and Dirty Club to investigate a homicide at a Bachelorette Party. One of the brides is found murdered, and there are very few clues.

This one really got to me because there was a lot for Eve and Peabody to untangle here. But at the heart of it, this crime made me truly sad. The lengths someone will go to destroy the lives of others never ceases to amaze me. But Lieutenant Dallas and Detective Peabody investigate with their usual fierceness, tenacity, compassion, and empathy.

I truly enjoy my two visits a year with the Lieutenant, Roarke, and all of their family and friends. Susan Ericksen does another wonderful job narrating this one. If you prefer the audiobook, I highly recommend this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this one. I also bought a copy because I own every book in this series. This book is out now, and I highly recommend this series!

Having read fifty-nine books by J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts), I am continually astounded by her remarkable ability to craft each installment with the same level of freshness and precision as the last. This latest novel is no exception, delivering a compelling narrative that remains sharp and engaging throughout.

One of the key elements that contributes to the enjoyment of these books is their futuristic setting. Although the timeline is set less than four decades into the future, the technological advancements depicted are extensive, particularly in the context of Detective Eve Dallas’s investigations. Eve is not alone in her endeavors; she is married to ultra handsome billionaire Roarke, who provides unwavering support during challenging situations. Another notable character is Peabody, Eve’s partner, whose growth and development has been a pleasure to witness.

The setting of this particular novel takes place at a pre-wedding party for brides Erin Albright and Shauna Hunnicut. The wedding party is in high spirits, celebrating the upcoming nuptials. Erin, who has a secret honeymoon planned for Shauna, departs the party to finalize the arrangements. Tragically, Erin’s body is discovered brutally murdered, triggering a flashback for Eve. The room where the bride-to-be was found is one that Eve is intimately familiar with.

Undeterred by the grim discovery, Eve immerses herself in the investigation, determined to seek justice for Erin. The sheer number of potential suspects makes the task daunting, but Eve’s exceptional detective skills enable her to meticulously sift through the evidence and identify the culprit. As with previous installments, Robb’s storytelling prowess is evident, weaving a complex narrative that delves into profound themes. The intricate plot, replete with twists and red herrings, keeps readers engaged and eager to uncover the truth.

Upon receiving an e-ARC of the book, I promptly devoured it. Upon discovering its availability as an audiobook, I made the decision to download and listen to it. Expertly narrated by Susan Erickson, a second reading of the audiobook was undoubtedly worth every second spent. The narrative is consistently captivating, and the inclusion of a familiar and talented narrator further enhances the storytelling experience.

I eagerly anticipate the release of the next book in the series, Bonded in Death, scheduled for February. Should I be approved for a galley, I will promptly acquire it for consumption. Eve and Roarke are an extraordinary couple, embodying the ideal of a dream couple. Their captivating romance seamlessly intertwines with the seriousness of the cases they investigate, ensuring that each book remains as compelling as the previous ones.

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Passions in Death, the 59th book in the In Death series, brings us back to the world of homicide Lieutenant Eve Dallas, and another murder to investigate. This one involved a bride at a pre-wedding girls night in a private room. Even though this brings up her own memories of her own assault, she works through it to solve the case! As always, I am so grateful for an opportunity to review an advance reader copy of this title. In my case, not only did I get to read the story, but even better, I got to listen to it! I liked the author and her ability to distinguish between characters. Overall, I really enjoyed this book!

I swear the JD Robb, In Death series is one of the best series out there. I don’t care who you are… fight me it cannot be beat. One of the best things about this series is the characters. They’ve grown, they’ve changed. I love that Eve and Roarke’s relationship has changed. They’ve evolved. I love how we’ve watched them turn from people who have no idea how to be in a relationship, but couldn’t resist each other, to learning how to be in one together.

The case itself made me sad just as a lot of them do. But this one was about love starting and it didn’t really get a chance to. So that kind of breaks your heart and you really root for Eve to get the killer. I loved that we got to see a bit more of eves friends. It’s always super fun when we bring in Mavis and Bella .

Lt. Eve Dallas is called to the Down and Dirty Club when a bachelorette party turns into a murder scene. The victim is one of the brides…she was getting ready to tell her fiancée that they were finally going on their dream trip.

Eve vows to find Erin’s killer and bring them to justice.

Once again Susan Ericksen does an excellent job of narrating a J. D. Robb story. I’m looking forward to listening to future books.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen to an ALC of this novel. #NetGalley #PassionsinDeath

Erin and Shawna are celebrating days before their wedding. Then the unthinkable happens. As Erin sneaks off to get ready for the big surprise for Shawna, Erin is murdered.

Dallas and Peabody crack the case of how and why such a horrible thing happened.

Shawna’s past comes back to bit her without even knowing she was endangering her one true love.

I always love a good Eve Dallas novel. I look forward to the next book immediately upon finishing the previous one. I enjoy the world that JD Robb has created in this ongoing series and I also love the relationship dynamic and watching Eve evolve as a person throughout the story.

The case in this one was pretty typical for an In Death book, easily able to be read as a standalone if you don’t mind not having a full backstory for the main characters. I always recommend this series and recommend this one as well.

Passions in Death
An Eve Dallas Novel
by J. D. Robb
Narrated by Susan Ericksen

J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) and her ongoing series featuring Eve Dallas have long been a favorite of mine. Passions in Death was decent, though not my favorite. First off, I have to give Susan Ericksen a shout-out for the amazing narration. She has distinct voices for each main character and nails them every time. Her narration brings such life to the characters and the story itself.

Now, on to the story itself. It's extremely well thought out and written. It truly is. I would recommend it to anyone who likes her and loves a good mystery suspense whodunit. With a broad and interesting cast of characters, it really keeps you guessing until the very end. I felt like I was reading a variation of Only Murderers in the Building, which also has incredible writers that really keep you guessing. Someone has killed Erin on the eve of her wedding to Shauna. There are people in both their lives who could have easily had motive to do it. Relax, put on your headphones or begin a long car ride, and just enjoy the listen!

Thanks to Netgalley, Ms. Roberts, and Macmillan Audio for the chance to listen to and review this ARC!

Listeners are treated to a gripping murder mystery filled with passion, danger, and complex relationships. The audiobook's narrator does an excellent job conveying the intensity of the story, drawing listeners into the plot. While the romance occasionally overshadows the crime element, the blend of genres works well, making for an exciting and emotional ride.

Another great read by JD Robb with a fabulous narrator. This book was so easy to sink in and listen to. Packed with secrets and lies, I had no idea who to trust. The surprises and reveals were written to perfection.
Thank you NetGalley, JD Robb and MacMillian Audio for the opportunity to read/listen to this new book.

Passions in Death continues the Eve Dallas story and I love every minute of it. I will never get tired of this story! In this case, Eve and Peabody catch the murder of woman celebrating her upcoming wedding at a sex club that is well know to Eve. It also mirrors a personal experience for Eve from the celebration just before her own wedding.

I enjoyed the story. There are plenty of suspects and some you really think they must have done it. But, you also get the continuing sweet stories of Eve and Roarke, Mavis and her family, McNab and Peabody and the new house, and more. Most of the story focuses Eve’s investigation and her various processes for solving the murder. I love her process because it is both calculated and well plans and strokes of inspiration. This was a great addition to the series and fans will, no doubt, gobble up Passions in Death with the usual fervor! If you haven’t listened to this series in audio, you simply must!! Susan Ericksen is sensational!

Another great read by JD Robb. I love the characters and their interactions. I love the character of Bella. I wish she was in the books more often. I also can’t wait until Mavis has #2. I can usually figure out the perpetrator pretty quickly. This one it was a little more difficult. I felt that there were more suspects. Great Read!!

Passions in Death shows off the type of investigation we haven't had in awhile.

In Death is one of my top favorite series but with 59 books out there, I can admit they aren't all Must Reads.  Nora Roberts is a firm believer in the 'power of three' which means it usually takes three deaths for Lt. Eve Dallas and her partner Detective Delia Peabody to pinpoint the killer. What that usually ends up meaning is that after the first murder we spent several chapters interviewing friends, co-workers and family of the victim to figure out who killed them. But in many stories, spending so much time getting to know the first victim turns out to be a waste of time since sometimes, such as in the last novel, Random in Death, there was nothing connecting the victim to the murderer other than time and place. While it is storytelling, it doesn't do much to solve the crime knowing that "Sally" was beloved by everyone or that her neighbor thought she played her TV too loud. Sometimes I enjoy the storytelling. Sometimes I am just annoyed that none of this  information really matters and want to move on with the real investigation.

So it is nice that in Passions in Death, we have one murder and the investigation is focused on one person.  It then matters what we learn about the deceased.   In Passions in Death, we have Erin Albright and Shauna Hunnicut who are about to get married and were having a bachelorette party at the Down and Dirty with all their friends. Erin has planned a surprise for Shauna, her dream honeymoon in Maui, and when she sneaks into one of the privacy rooms to change into a grass skirt and bring out the surprise tickets, she is attacked from behind and strangled.   Her death is violent and very, very personal.   Erin is a sweet friend and talented artist.  Everyone purports to simply love her and they are so excited that Erin and Shauna have found each other--this perfect couple.  So who hated Erin enough to brutally murder her?

There were several possibilities that Eve and Peabody bounce back and forth between.  Was it an ex-lover of Erin's or maybe Shauna's?  If so, why kill Erin and not Shauna?  Erin has always been gay but most of Shauna's relationships have been with men.  Is this a former male lover who isn't happy about being tossed aside for a woman?

This was a really good investigation because with each possible suspect there was real logic behind why they might have killed Erin and how it was possible for them to have pulled it off.   I found myself ready several times to toss someone into the box and have Eve break them in interrogation, only to have Eve toss out a "or it could have been..." and finding myself agreeing that the new possibility sounded plausible.  Even narrowing it down to the two highest probabilities, we were still bouncing between the guilt of both and it took breaking down one suspect to finally narrow it down to Erin's killer.

While we go through the usual crime scene investigations, time with Morris in the morgue and time with the crime lab and with Feeney and his E-geeks, it all came down to interviewing witnesses and executing search warrants, like a real investigation, to solve this murder.

While Passions in Death won't make my Top 10 Dallas/Peabody investigations, this one really had us guessing who are killer is 'til the bitter end.

As always, I love Susan Erickson's audiobook presentation and whether or not I am reading or listening to these stories, I still hear all the characters in her narration.

Passions in Death was the story of two women out with their loved ones, so they thought, to celebrate their upcoming wedding. They party was at the DND, a location in which they were familiar with, and they were able to let loose and party hard. Someone close to them allowed their jealous, controlling, and manipulative nature to murder one of the women; thus leaving the one they supposedly loved distraught. I started to loose interest in the book when I felt as if I knew who the murder was. The suspense was lacking, and did not keep me on the edge of my seat; This book did not keep me captivated at all.
This is book 59 in the Death series, some of which I have read, and genuinely liked, and captivated. However, this book did not do it for me. I do look forward to reading more of her work.

I haven’t read this series in a while, and it was great to catch up with everyone! It was a satisfying mystery with outstanding narration. It has sucked me back into the series and I will be going back to catch up on what I’ve missed.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
