Fast-paced, exhilarating book about a side of history that I was not familiar with at all. You get a very deep insight into the newspaper war, when a young reporter who hears of president McKinleys assassination plot gets kidnapped and taken to Cuba right at the bring of war between Spain and. America. Thne its a race against time, to be rescued and to prevent the plot against the president. Build-up in the story was amazing

Dnf read 70% but struggled from the start of the long drawn out shootout with the spanish. It annoyed me because i loved the start with the reporter and the asylum but just got bored.

4.5 which I am only too happy to round up to 5 because if I wasn't reading I was thinking about the book .

The Blue Riders is a thrilling fast paced read that takes place in 1890's and President William McKinley is in power.

There is unrest between Spain and the United States and Cuba is caught in the middle.

The newspapers are controlled by Hearst and Pulitzer in New York.

A female reporter Cassie overhears a plot to assassinate McKinley she attempts to track down her biggest lead The Gray Man and her life is now in jeopardy.

The trail leads her to Florida where she meets up with Gideon her co worker but before she can tell what has happened she is kidnapped.

The race is on to save her, bodies are piling up .

War is on the verge of being declared between Spain and United States.

Jim Lester writes a fast paced well written and well researched story that has the reader on the edge of their seat .

I for one raced to the final chapter and others will as well.

This is my first Jim Lester Book and it certainly wont be me last.

I highly recommend The Blue Riders , get your copy and clear your calendar for a wild ride.
