I reviewed this NF picture book for possible inclusion in my library's local history collection. The fossil which is the focus of the story was found on a beach at Fossil Bay, Sucia Island Marine State Park, Sucia Island, San Juan Islands.
This illustration-heavy nonfiction book has a lower reading level and a lot of empty space (not always white space, but colored backgrounds without text). The topic is interesting but the language is approachable, maybe grades 3-6? It's not clear from the eARC file, but it looks like this would be a thin book in portrait orientation, what my library calls "early reader" books-- an example is Amelia Bedelia Lost and Found-- which are a mix of fiction and nonfiction.
Recommended for Washington and other PNW public and school libraries that lend to young dinosaur fans.
