THANK YOU NETGALLEY FOR THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!
This is a unique story of revenge, sorrow, love, and life. I could not get into this book originally, I felt it to be a little hard to read mostly because of the language but that's why i give the author points. He also really took a deep dive into the subject. As a history major I felt it portrayed the brutalness of war and how far revenge can go. I loved this story, it wasn't poetic, but to me it felt rhythmically in line with myself. As a history major and a huge fan of the Navy (S/O to my dad) I thank the author for this beauty of a book <3
An English sea captain, intent on raiding a Spanish treasure fleet, must contend with harsh weather, internal strife, and a fleet of war galleons lying in wait. Success promises both great rewards and vengeance in the untamed New World.
**Voyage of Reprisal** is rooted in the author’s thorough research, offering a meticulous depiction of life aboard an Elizabethan war galleon. The book brings to life a range of charismatic characters, from rough sailors to haughty nobles. It delves into the pains, joys, sorrows, and aspirations of the era, all aboard a 16th-century privateer.
