4.5 stars!
Firstly, I’d like to say thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc in return for an honest review.
Things we never say was such a gripping, fast-paced book following the lives of three mothers tackling various issues within their lives, joined together to uncover a scandal.
The way Weaver portrayed the different situations and real life problems was done so well and really made me feel for the characters and their situations.
The writing, as mentioned, was fast-paced and engaging. I flew through this book and was so interested in seeing how the plot progressed.
It was very touching to see how the three main characters developed over the course of the book and how their friendship grew, making for a wholesome feeling to balance the intense topics featured.
I would definitely recommend this as I really enjoyed it and would be more than willing to read another from Weaver!
However, I would recommend checking trigger warnings, particularly for one aspect of the storyline.
The emotions this book made me feel is nothing short of outstanding! From pure rage to devastation and everything inbetween! I always think it’s a fine skill for an author to detest a character and that’s certainly how I felt about one (no spoilers)
My first read by this author and certainly not the last.
Things we never say is the story of 3 mums who on the surface you would think lead the perfect lives, however each has their secrets,
I was captivated and I would recommend this to all!
I devoured this book, absolutely loved it. It had multiple things I love: a swanky private school, women coming together to figure out a mystery, domestic suspense storylines in multiple households, etc. If I would have had the time, I could have read it within one day.
Things We Never Say by Caitlin Weaver
Things We Never Say is an emotionally charged domestic thriller that delves into the lives of three seemingly different women—Anna, Maggie, and Rhea. Each is hiding a secret that could upend their worlds, and as they come together to plan their children’s private school’s centennial gala, their lives begin to unravel in ways they never expected.
Anna, the quiet mother with the perfect headmaster husband, harbors the darkest secret of all, concealing the reality of her troubled home life. Maggie, a relationship therapist struggling with her own crumbling marriage, and Rhea, who hides a tumultuous past beneath her glamorous exterior, round out the trio. Together, they uncover a scandal that threatens to shake the very foundation of their lives and the school community. The suspense builds as they must decide how much they are willing to risk to expose the truth.
What I loved most about this book was the development of the friendship between Anna, Maggie, and Rhea. Initially, these women seem to have little in common, their interactions tinged with disdain and preconceived notions. But as they spend more time together, their bond deepens, and they form a genuine friendship based on trust and shared vulnerability. The fact that these women had no close friends before adds an extra layer of poignancy to their growing connection. Each of their secrets has the power to devastate their lives, but their newfound bond becomes a source of strength as they face their challenges together.
The suspense throughout is well-crafted, with highs and lows that kept me engrossed in the lives of these three women. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would like them, but by the end, I was rooting for each of them. I particularly enjoyed how the novel explored the dynamics of their marriages and relationships—each unique, with different power plays and dynamics at work. The story shows that behind the facade of perfection, everyone has something they're struggling with, and you never really know what’s going on in someone’s life.
The multiple points of view worked brilliantly to highlight the complexity of their lives and how things are rarely what they seem from the outside. The situations felt real and believable, which made the stakes feel all the higher. This is a story about facades, friendship, and the power of uncovering the truth.
As someone who believes in finding true friendship in unexpected places, Things We Never Say resonated deeply with me. I felt like I was right there with these women, experiencing their stress, emotions, and joys. Caitlin Weaver has crafted a compelling, heartwarming, and suspenseful story, and I look forward to reading more from her.
Thank you to Storm Publisher, the author, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a good read. The story was easy to follow, the pacing just right and had a good cast of characters. Overall a good novel that I would recommend to other readers.
❤️ Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and author for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This story literally had me in tears. It was suspenseful from the very beginning and only got better as the story progressed. The characters were so likeable and I related to all of them. Amazing story!
This book follows three very different PTA moms who have children at a very prestigious private school. Anna is the very quiet wife of the headmaster of the school who keeps to herself. Maggie is a therapist struggling in her marriage. Rhea appears to be the stereotypical popular head of the PTA. By chance they are thrown together to work on a fundraising project for the PTA. None of them are excited to be working on the project together. As they continue meet, they discover they have more in common than they think and all are struggling to keep their lives from falling apart. As an added twist, the women accidentally uncover that things at the school aren’t as they should be. This book was a little slow for me to start, but as the story unfolded, I had a hard time putting it down. You absolutely must read this to see if the women expose the scandalous behavior at the school, if their marriages can survive, and more importantly if they can survive. Just when you think you know what’s coming next, the author throws in another curve ball. An overall great read!
Caitlyn Weaver is such a master of character driven storytelling. Each of rhe characters were fully developed and itheur stories intricately woven together. I loved the friendship that developed between the three mothers and the unraveling of their secrets kept me quickly turning the pages to see what would happen next. Highly recommend! I can't wait to read her other novels.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
There’s that saying, “you never know what happens behind closed doors”, and for Anna, Rhea and Maggie, that phrase is spot on. Each of them is keeping a secret that could devastate their families. The three women are far from keen to work together on the fundraiser for the elite private school their children attended, each believing the others to be shallow/uptight/insert whatever derogatory description here! Very snooty school committee, we all know the type!
As the story unfolds and the three women form a close friendship, they discover another huge secret that will change everything, as well as a strength and determination none of them realised they had.
I absolutely adored this book! The characters were so well written and relatable, I found myself totally absorbed and invested in their lives and families. There were some incredibly tense and gripping elements to the story, lots of emotion and some psychological thriller vibes.
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Caitlin Weaver and Storm, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Apart from the few mistakes I found, this book was very good.
A good mix of real life events and interesting characters that handle dubious situations to the best of their abilities.
The women were well written and I empathised with all of them, even Rhea who I wasn’t keen on at first.
The pace of the plot was steady and exciting and I could really feel tension when reading about Anna’s life.
Ending was very satisfactory though!

My thoughts:
I liked this. It was a solid read. It kept me consistently interested, with enough little tidbits of shock that I wanted to unravel the entire plot. While i enjoyed it, and thought it was a decent enough read, there was just something underwhelming about it unfortunately.
The gradually forming and slightly reluctant friendship between the three women is beautifully depicted and the book deals with the difficult topics it touches on empathetically. There are plenty of twists, lots of secrets and a great ending to look forward to!
What a great book! I love the dynamic that forms between Anna, Rhea and Maggie throughout the story so much. Woman standing up for each other and forming a bond over realistic problems is a thing you don't come across often in thrillers! I'm so glad about the way "things we never say" ended, how everything happened as it was supposed to. Great book and so worth a read!
Thanks to NetGalleg and Storm Publishing for the eARC.
Private school drama. People in power doing bad things. This book was okay, but I was never actually invested in any of our three FMCs.
And also, Pen, are we for real? Don’t.
I appreciate the growing friendship throughout this. These secrets, whew. Some heavier than others. A quick read. Free advanced copy from Netgalley, book publishes 9/27
"Things We Never Saw" by Caitlin Weaver is an addicting thriller that's sure to keep you hooked! It's a real page-turner, filled with scandalous twists and turns that make it hard to put down. The writing is top-notch, with engaging characters and a plot that keeps you guessing. If you're looking for a well-written book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, I'd definitely recommend this one!
I really enjoyed this book as the writing was very good and the characters very realistic. 3 mothers with different backgrounds, all married but connect through the school their children attend. They don’t like each other first but really get to know each other and become friends working together on the celebration of the centennial of the said school.
Every couple has secrets in their personal life and what happens behind closed doors becomes clear, but no one would have guessed. Really well written
Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing
Thank you once again for the honor of reading an advanced copy of Things We Never Say. At first I thought I would have to leave it unfinished. The beginning felt like a PTA meets the Stepford Wives. I was sooo wrong.
This was well done on so many levels - the plot, character development and the fact that the villain received his just deserts.
Great job!
This was my first book by Caitlin Weaver. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It did feel drawn out at times, and seemed like it took me forever to get through. I enjoyed getting to know the characters all so well. The storyline held my interest. This was an excellent read for anyone who loves family drama/female friendship drama. It wasn't a thriller at all in my opinion. 4 starsz
Three mothers, who, from the outside looking in, seem to have it alllll together. However, each of them are harboring some pretty big secrets from each other and from the ones they love. Although they don't start out as friends, Anna, Maggie, and Rhea are forced together through their prestigious private school, Civitas', gala planning. Through these gala planning meetings, they discover so many things about each other and develop lifelong bonds. They also discover some crazy secrets about a scandal happening at the school that Anna's husband just happens to be the headmaster of. Not only do they discover the scandal...but is Anna's husband involved? As they seek to find out the truth, everything unravels, and everything comes to light in the end.
Overall, I enjoyed the suspense of this book. It reminded me a lot of Big Little Lies. The build up was so good that I couldn't stop reading and finished it pretty quickly once I started. I'm giving it four stars because there are certain things I wish the women would have fessed up to earlier then they did, and the build up to the ending felt pretty rushed. I also guessed the ending. That didn't stop me from enjoying it though. A solid four stars!
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
