Thank you so much NetGalley for this ARC. Wow I loved this story! This was different from any romance novel I have read before. I recently read another book that also had a storyline surrounding EMP’s. This story brought romance and science fiction together. The story line had me turning pages. I truly felt I was on the journey along with Tuck and Emily. A great read!

Well I went in this book completely blindfolded because I enjoyed this last arc by this author and they did not disappoint. I will admit the whole solar flare thing took me a second go get used to as it just felt extremely random but after getting over the initial shock I was able to enjoy the book! I did think the FMC was just unlikeable imo but I did enjoy the MC!

First I’ll echo what others have said - this doesn’t seem like a romance novel but a dystopian novel of survival with a romance thrown in.
Second, I’m struggling with how to rate this one. On the one hand, I very much enjoyed the book. On the other hand, there were a lot of at the right place at the right time or lucky happenstances that allowed Tuck and Emily to survive the way they did. As soon as one bad thing happened, something good offset it and the good thing that happened put them in a better situation than they were in previously.
Overall, this is a good read but not a great one. The main characters were fine but not overly likable. I didn’t fly through it like I normally would but I was interested enough to keep going and finish it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC

I need to take a moment to gather my thoughts as I digest this story. I think a slow clap for Mia's ability to write this - with all of its moving parts and unique layers - feels necessary. Bravo, Ms. Sheridan.
Seriously, she has done a phenomenal job delving into these hard and messy topics with the past few releases. I'm truly impressed.

This book has such a unique storyline and a unique beauty to it. I admit that I haven't read very many apocalyptic novels before and thus I have no frame of reference for how it compares. I don't know that I can compare it to much of anything that I have read before, honestly... it felt so very different from anything that I have personally ever read.
But I feel a special adoration for this story. I deeply appreciated the characters (Tuck is a dream!), the setting (sometimes it seems like this reality is right around the corner, doesn't it?), the perspective, the fluidity of the story and the expressive descriptions that fill these pages. I felt like I was lost right alongside the characters. This book is a unique story that deserves to be read and recommended and discussed. It's a topic that is full of difficult material. It's honestly so scary to think of what one would do if we were all thrust into a situation like a solar flare, isn't it? The whole time I was reading, the material really had me contemplating the depth and the gravity... and the hopelessness that would be felt in an instance like that. But I feel like Mia did an exceptional job tackling this proverbial Mount Everest. Peeling back the layers of what someone would be thinking, feeling, and experiencing as they walk that road. It was evident to me that this novel was well-researched and well fleshed out. While slightly slow paced in areas, it worked well to develop the story appropriately and give space to lay out the timeline. I am glad that it didn't feel rushed. I found it very hard to put the book down during my read. I was constantly drawn back into the pages to find out how everything was going to work out in the end. Especially when it seemed impossible to impose a traditional HEA to a story like this. But the ending was satisfying and adorable. I loved the epilogue!
There are definitely some triggers in here. It's the end of the world within these pages, folks. The niceties of a respectful society are absent. So be prepared for death, drug use, theft, injuries, guns, mayhem and lawlessness. But it is very tastefully done and the story is also woven with beautiful threads of kindness, patience, love and growth.

Overall, I really enjoyed Heart Of the Sun and I would recommend fellow readers pick it up whether it's your usual genre or not - this one deserves a place on your TBR!

Thank you, Harlequin Trade Publishing, Netgalley and Mia Sheridan, for a chance to read this novel before the release date in exchange for my honest review. I am endlessly thankful for the ARC opportunities I receive!

When a solar flare disrupts the electrical grid, all of America is suddenly plunged into darkness. For Emily, who has become a pop star, she learns how little fame means. For Tuck, this new reality gives him a chance to prove himself in the eyes of Emily and the world. No electricity means few cars run, grocery stores are empty, people are starving, and chaos abounds as people try to find their way in this new society. Tuck and Emily, who have loved each other but fought the urge since they were children, forge a path across the country to find her parents. This book really makes you think about what would happen if we lost all our electricity.

Heart of the Sun follows Emily & Tuck, who are childhood friends who grew apart. Now, Emily is a famous singer and Tuck becomes her bodyguard fresh out of prison. When a solar flair throws the world into chaos, both need to survive and navigate the long journey across country back to her parents house. It's such a perfect childhood friends to lovers slow burn romance, and is well worth the read.

Going into this book, I was already a huge fan of Mia Sheridan's writing but this book still blew me away! I love the dystopian twist on the story, as it's a genre I've really gotten into over the last year. Watching Tuck and Emily come together through their journey was so beautiful to read. I could not put the book down and binge read it within 24 hours. This (might) be my new favorite Mia Sheridan book!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Heart of the Sun by the Queen Mia Sheridan was definitely a fun unique book! Based in sunny California, Tuck and Emily childhood friends until life breaks them apart. Fast forward 13 years later when Emily is a famous singer and Tuck is an ex-con figuring out life on the outside. They are brought back into each other’s lives when a solar flair disrupts life.

I loved how Mia combined dystopian themes with romance. She really makes a book enjoyable and romantic. The friends to lovers definitely hit hard! It was a slow burn which was exactly what I was looking for!
I rated 4.5 stars because (and I’m not the only one thinking this) but I did not like Emily’s character when Tuck comes back into her life. I found her really selfish and obnoxious. It made it hard to get through because of it. But with that being said she does become a better character and I think that the author did this on purpose to show the growth Emily has throughout the blackout. So overall I did enjoy this book and I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you NetGalley and Greys promotion for this ARC! Thank you Mia Sheridan for making AMAZING books!

This book was a little different than Mia’s other books I have read, but I ate it up!

A story of love and survival with a dystopian twist.

I would say this one ranks up in the top three for me on Mia’s books. I loved the story and how different it was to boot!

Thank you Netgalley and Canary Street Press for the e arc!

Be on the lookout for this beautiful book.

Heart of the Sun an action-packed story that keeps the pages turning. The stakes are high, the twists are well-timed, and the romance has a slow burn that many readers will enjoy.

Overall, it’s a solid read with a lot of strengths, but it didn’t fully hit the mark for me. Fans of post apocalyptic and intense action will love this one!

Heart of the Sun by Mia Sheridan
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.5

Mia Sheridan’s Heart of the Sun is an evocative, slow-burn romance set against the backdrop of emotional healing, deep connection, and rediscovery. While it doesn’t hit the same highs as some of her other works, it still brings her signature style of heartfelt storytelling and intense character development.

Plot Overview:
The story revolves around Zoey, a woman who’s been through a lot of pain and loss, trying to rebuild her life. She finds herself in a small town, where she encounters a man, Elias, with a mysterious and troubled past. Elias is raw, brooding, and scarred—emotionally and physically. The two have an undeniable chemistry, but both are wrestling with their own demons, making for a slow and sometimes frustrating push-pull dynamic.

As they navigate their traumas, their relationship begins to unfold in a way that feels genuine and well-paced. It’s not just about love—there’s healing, redemption, and learning to trust again.

Heart of the Sun is a book that tugs at your heartstrings, with its poignant exploration of trauma and love. Mia Sheridan’s writing is, as always, beautiful and immersive, and while the story might feel a bit predictable and slow in places, it ultimately offers a touching journey of healing and connection. If you’re a fan of emotional, character-driven romances and enjoy a slower pace, this one might be just what you’re looking for.

For fans of Sheridan’s work, Heart of the Sun is a solid read, though it doesn’t quite reach the same level of emotional intensity as some of her previous books. Still, if you love stories about redemption, second chances, and love that heals, this is worth picking up.

Rating: 3.5/5
Perfect for fans of emotional romances, but be prepared for a slower pace.

The premise of Heart of the Sun is so interesting, it's unlike a lot of books that I've read recently. Diving into the book, I'll admit I was confused. The beginning was hard to understand and felt a bit jumbled. As I pushed through, I was immediately pulled into Emily and Tuck's story. I read 80% of the book in about 12 hours. It really grew on me. However, I feel that it ended so abruptly. I give it 4/5 stars because it's such a unique story that I loved, but I wish the ending was expanded upon. I would've loved to have an extended epilogue or even extra chapters at the end.

For people who are looking for romance, with drama and twists galore, look no further. Heart of the Sun by Mia Sheridan is a former friends to lovers romance featuring a pop star, Emily "Nova" and her former childhood best friend and neighbor, Tuck. Mia Sheridan is known for her romances that break your heart and put it back together again and Heart of the Sun is no exception to that. Tuck and Emily's journey in this book - both physical and emotional, made it hard to put the book down until I was done reading it. For those who are looking for a more dystopian/sci-fi novel, Heart of the Sun does have some inconsistencies or head scratchers with the world building, but I feel that is to be expected from the first novel of this type by an author who writes romance novels. For her loyal fans that are looking for another Mia Sheridan love story, this novel 100 percent delivers. For those who are more used to reading high fantasy novels, this story may become frustrating in parts for you as it did me, however the overall romance arc of the story made up for it.

Heart of the Sun is one of the many books I’ve read by one of the most talented authors around, Ms. Mia Sheridan!

This book was just as amazing as some of the other well written books she has wrote. I love the thrill in the first few chapters of wondering what they had been through during the crash, as well as what Tuck went to prison for. I love how during stressful times of these characters, there is also funny moments and romance as well!

I would highly recommend this book!

Thank you Mia Sheridan, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and NetGalley for allowing me to read this amazing book!

A truly unique story that had me captivated from the beginning. Tuck and Emily had so much chemistry and I was hooked on their love story from the beginning.

LOVE Mia, and will forever love Mia's writing! Tuck was a fantastic MMC and I really enjoy watching his relationship with Emily. I really wasn't a huge fan of Emily in this book, but Tuck's character really helped me continue on with this book. Emily was a bit of an annoying character and I found myself rolling my eyes way too many times. But I love a good second-chance romance.

Heart of the Sun is about love and survival, with a captivating twist. The story is told from dual POVs, following Emily a rising superstar, and Tuck, her former childhood crush and now bodyguard. Tuck is burdened by his troubled past in prison and his difficult childhood. And he is healing from deep emotional scars. I really felt bad for him.

I was immediately drawn to the plot of this story. I was delighted to see how effortlessly she works across genres. The dystopian elements of Heart of the Sun are chilling and realistic, especially as the characters navigate the frightening and chaotic consequences of a solar flare

This was very interesting and not at all what I was expecting but in a good way. Definitely would recommend to read!

I have recently discovered my love of a dual time line story & Mia Sheridan truly knocked this one out of the park. I haven’t read many dystopianesque books before but this was really incredible. I found the plot to be gripping & I was anxiously wanting to know what happened with the solar flare. Over-all the romance was good but I found the most fascinating part to be the world ending aspect.

I am a fan of Mia Sheridan’s work - so when I discovered she had written essentially an apocolyptic romance I was ready to devour it.

Tuck and Emily were childhood friends that had grown apart and were recently reunited when tragedy strikes and they are involved in a plane crash. The circumstances behind the crash change the world as they know it and now they have to figure out a way home. I went in to this story not knowing much about it and I do feel that’s the best way to read it - although that does make it more difficult to write a review. I enjoyed the perils the characters went through on their journey and the dystopian vibes were what I liked best about the book. The chemistry between the main characters just wasn’t there for me. The romance fell flat and a big chunk of the book felt slow. It was still an entertaining read but it just fell a bit short of my expectations.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to read an early copy!
