Any parent can relate to this story. Rafa wonders off to catch a strawberry while grocery shopping with him Mom. When he looks up to grab her leg, he notices that it isn't his Mom's. The illustrations are fun and my kids liked to point out the Mom searching for her son among the fruit aisle while the boy is going in the other direction. I especially love the added page to talk with your kids about what to do if you get lost or separated somewhere. This would make a good read aloud with little ones and highly recommend. I was able to read this on NetGalley for my review.

A fun way to talk about losing a parent in a store. The lost and found section includes questions to help the discussion with your child.

Rafa and the Wrong Legs is a story of a boy who gets lost in the grocery store and has to try to find his mom. As a parent, the thought of my toddler roaming away is terrifying, but also so realistic! I love how the author and illustrator portray Rafa actively searching for his mom, giving up, and then remember how to ask for help. I think this is a perfect book for parents to read to their toddlers and young children to discuss the plan if you ever do get separated in a store. I love the book includes conversation starters and strategies for parents to communicate with their children.

This would be a perfect gift to give to someone with a 3-6 year old to introduce the topic of getting lost. As a bonus, the illustrations are beautiful and the characters are diverse.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Marble Press for the e-Arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story is so relatable for our students. Every child has done it. You grab mom's leg or reach for her hand only to realize... that's not mom! Rafa and the Wrong Legs is a good conversation starter about what to do if your child gets lost out in public.

My one complaint about this book is that the legs with tattoos on them were described as "too scary." All kinds of people have tattoos. Let's not perpetuate the stereotype that tattoos = bad and scary.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

A wonderfully illustrated cautionary tale about what to do and not to do when you lose your Mama in the grocery store! I liked the message at the end of the book encouraging parents to discuss what to do if a situation like this arises.

Teaching a kid what to do when they get lost is super important. You want to give your child a bit of autonomy, but you also want them to know what to do when they do get separated.

This story shows how a kid figures out what to do, which is a) find another mother with a kid, and ask for help, b) stay put c) ask a worker for help.
In this case, he asks the cookie man at the bakery for help, and he is reunited with his mother.

I do like how Rafa goes through the best way to find his mother, by deductions. It lets the kids who are being read to be able to shout at Rafa, telling him, for example, those aren’t his mother’s pants.
