Cute, fun, and inspired lunch ideas for bento box lunches. Photos are fantastic and very colorful. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this copy.
My least favorite part of being an adult is always figuring out what to cook. This was an excellent selection of dishes far from the norm of my southern cooking, and I greatly appreciated it! This has helped out in my own meal-planning journey.
I received a copy of this eBook from netGalley for a honest review.
What a creative lunch book not only for kids who would enjoy these healthy, fun and worldly lunches but for adult too. I would love to have these lunches in my bag of tricks for lunch.
Fun book with lots of lunch ideas to help you out of the rut of your lunch (or your kids!)
With different difficulty levels, this book would be helpful for every skill level, some recipes will be more appealing for adults, some will work better for kids.
Thank you Netgalley and DK for the ARC!
One of the hardest parts of being an adult (and working from home) is making lunch every single day. I try to come up with something new each day in order to keep from ordering out and getting stuck in a rut, but sometimes it's just hard and you really have to motivate yourself to do something. That's why I've found a lot of joy in books like this and videos of people making bento boxes for their kids. Why can't I make one for myself and my wife to keep lunch fun? Plus, I can file it all away for when we eventually have kids. Everything was simple and easy to follow, with everything ranging from breakfast to fun, different international foods. Even if it is simple, having it all in one place as a way to mix and match options can take away from the stress and choice fatigue. I really loved the including of the pros and cons of different bento boxes, since what works for some people may not work for others. No judgement here, just what works for your lifestyle. The playlist was also such a fun, cute touch. She's making it fun at every level.
Sulhee Jessica Woo, also known as the Bento Box Queen, has released her first cookbook, Let's Make Some Lunch: Recipes Made with Love for Everyone: A Cookbook. Woo, who is a popular social media personality, is a food artist, and prepares beautiful lunches for her three girls. Her cookbook includes kid-friendly recipes for lunches that would make anyone swoon.
The recipes are quite appealing, even to adults, and they are written in the traditional form, so they are easy to follow. The ingredients are listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions. The book is colorful, and includes plenty of information on preparing lunches, as well as pantry items and hints. There are beautiful photographs of almost all of the recipes – mostly tucked into neat little compartments in bento boxes.
There are recipes here for almost everything: appetizers, desserts, main dishes, sandwiches, salads, etc., all with instructions for including in lunches. Most of the recipes have Asian roots, but there are other kid’s favorites, also. Most of the recipes are quite easy, with short lists of ingredients and most of the author’s suggestions include a well-balanced menu for each lunch.
All told, anyone who wants to go the extra mile and prepare beautiful bento box lunches and has the extra time, will want to pick up this cute cookbook. Bento boxes are fun and this book explores more possibilities than I have seen in other books.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
There are some good ideas in here and I’m sure so many people will enjoy them but these recipes are overall not appealing to me or for my family.
This is a really cute book with so many fun ideas and so many options to choose for everyone, not just kids. I was a bit disappointed because there are so many recipes that I wouldn't use as well as many of the containers that are shown.
The photography of the food and design looked good and the overall lay out made it easier to read for everyone.
If you have people in your family who are bored with lunch and dinners and are adventurous this is a great book for you.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this advance reader copy with me.
This is a super cute and fun cookbook with a plethora of lunch options for you to choose from!
There's something for everyone (kids and adults that wanna feed their inner child).
Thanks so much to NetGalley, Sulhee Jessica Woo and DK for giving me an ARC of this wonderful cookbook!!
Cutest cookbook! I would love to have my lunch prepared these ways when I was a kid. The lunches are colorful and fun looking. There’s information on prep time, cook time, and level of difficulty. Lots and lots of ideas for lunch! I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

Lots of great recipes for nutritious meals but my concern would be the food staying warm without reheating.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Let’s Make Some Lunch contains a wide range of recipes with easy-to-follow instructions. There truly is a recipe for every adult. I say adult because even though this cookbook seems to be intended for a child’s lunch it isn’t practical or appealing. I asked a few children where I work if they would eat any lunches in the book if their parents made it. The resounding answer was no. That being said… the adults went nuts. A lot of the lunches could be leftovers from a previous meal. Case in point the ribeye or blackened salmon. Although you might start a riot in the breakroom reheating fish.
I would rate this book 3.5 stars only because I don’t think it fits the target group but adults would get a kick out of it for their lunches.
This book is genuinely great. Most of the recipes are high effort, but I think it’s true to the way she cooks. It’s very accurate to her TikTok account, and I don’t think anything about this book will disappoint her fans. My only issue is the difficulty ratings— nothing’s a 4* recipe, and somehow fried chicken skewers rank below broiled satay. I consider deep frying harder and scarier, but maybe I’m missing something.
As a stay-at-home mom of a school-age child, I am always looking for fun ways to spice up a lunchbox. I love a lot of these suggestions, especially breakfast for lunch. It's not something that I really considered. These are easy to approach recipes.
Let’s Make Some Lunch is basically a foodies work of art! Gosh this book was beautiful and inspiring and I basically spent the whole time hungry haha. My lunches have never once been as beautiful as these ones and I hope to use some of the tips and tricks from the book to make my daughters prettier and have fun with it 🥰.
I enjoyed her review on the different kinds of lunch kits and might grab a new one for my munchkin, and I’ll probably invest in some fun shaped cutters. But some of the food I’m not convinced would be good cold or that my little girl would eat. Also my daughters not allowed a small list of items due to other kiddos allergies which I didn’t feel the book mentioned or accommodated at all. Apart from that it was a quick read and I’d recommend it to other moms/ parents who enjoying making meals beautiful!
I received a free ebook copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
This is a cute and enjoyable book that gives the reader great ideas for lunches and beyond!
I like all the photographs and mix-and-match nature of the offerings! There’s lots of choice and flexibility in creating a bento box and this book is a great way to get started. Super cute and a fun way to get creative in the kitchen for the whole family!
I'm excited to try some of these recipes and dishes for my husband's lunch. I've been wanting to get into the art of bento, and this book feels easy to follow and very inspiring. The pictures are bright and adorable, and the list of items you need is super helpful.
I love how much care and attention goes into a bento, and I'm super excited to have such a great guide, thank you!

I really loved this book. I feel like there are not enough cookbooks dedicated to lunch recipes. There were so many great recipes for delicious and healthy lunches. I love the creativity of the recipes. I found the recipes to be both diverse, unique, and easy to follow. I love how there was a difficulty rating for each so you know what to expect before you make the recipes. I thought the photos were colorful and whimsical. I also really enjoyed the lunch 101 section. I think this would be a great cookbook for almost anyone, and I would definitely recommend it.
I loved how versatile and easy the recipes are, alot of them look super cute and could definitely involve children in some of the prep as well!
