I absolutely loved this audiobook!

This fast-paced novella is packed with action and excitement. Ada Lamarr, a lone scavenger running out of air, is rescued by Rian White and his crew on the Halifax. The world-building is unique, with Earth dying and humans colonizing other planets. Ada’s charm and cleverness quickly win over the crew, but she has her own secret mission. The banter and growing chemistry between Ada and Rian add a fun twist to the story. Ada’s love for Earth food and her playful personality bring humor to the plot.

Dara Rosenberg and David Bendena’s narration is excellent, making the characters come alive, especially Ada’s adventurous spirit. The story is filled with high-stakes twists and turns, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The cliffhanger ending left me eager for the next book. If you love space adventures, intriguing characters, and a bit of romance, this audiobook is a must-listen.

Are you looking for a fun, fast-paced, space adventure? Look no further than Full Speed to a Crash Landing by Beth Revis! This novella introduces us to Ada and Rian, who we will follow for two more books. Ada is a lone scavenger who searches ghost ships and wreckages for items and parts that may be salvageable and resold. One day, she finds herself in a sticky situation when her ship is damaged, and her suit is low on air. Luckily, at nearly the last minute, a ship saves her. Aboard that ship is Rian, a very smart, secretive -- albeit attractive-- guy Ada can’t help but spar with even though they’re both keeping secrets.

The narrator did a great job! Ada bursts with personality and sass. I flew through this audiobook! Getting Rian’s point of view at the end was a pleasant surprise, and the male narrator also did a phenomenal job. I’m eagerly waiting for the next installment! I can’t wait for these two to cross paths again.

Overall, this is a fun, endlessly entertaining read with banter, action, and a little romance-- with more sure to come in the next installment!

I found this to be just okay.

Because it's a novella, there are certain things you need to be able to do well, and I felt like this story fell short.

The FMC was a little too over the top, and the narrator made it even more dramatic, so it was like listening to a hyped up little sister. The male narrator was just okay, too, but he doesn't appear until the end and what he reads is so stiff that it didn't add much to the story.

This is sold as a romance, and there's a few romantic elements but it is definitely not a romance. I know this is a series so maybe that comes through later on, but it wasn't here.

The characters were not defined and were a bit unremarkable. There could be potential in the series as a whole, but they have some work to do before then.

I'm not going to lie—I listened to the audiobook twice back to back because I had such a fun time with it. 🤭 The narrators and the story were absolutely captivating!

The only reason it's not a five-star read is that the ending felt abrupt, as if the book was cut in two, and I was so confused when the end credits started. I also wish there had been a bit more world-building. WHERE IS THE NEXT BOOK, PLEASE?

This sci-fi novella is absolutely entertaining, hilarious, and filled with action, drama, banter, and a touch of romance. I am in love with Ada, our strong and cunning FMC. She kept me and everyone else on their toes. 💛

Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, for this audiobook ARC! All opinions are my own.

Full Speed to a Crash Landing is the first book in a new novella trilogy.

Ada is nearly out of air when she is rescued by a government retrieval crew. They are in this lonely part of space to scavenge a brand-new wreck that no one is supposed to know about, and the crew is understandably suspicious. When did Ada learn about the wreck? How did she get a hole in her spacecraft? Why is she scavenging alone? These questions are put aside as the crew enlists Ada to help search for the items they've come there to find before the planet's seismic activity further buries the wreck.

I loved this book. Ada is clearly hiding things, and the crew each have their own secrets, not the least of which is what they're looking for in this mysterious wreck. I didn't realize this book is the first in a trilogy, so it definitely ended with me wanting more. The novella length was perfect, and the story was propulsive the whole way through. This book was less of a romance and more adventure, so don't expect much romance in this installment.

Dara Rosenberg and David Bendena were excellent narrators of the story, especially Dara who is perfect for Ada's snarky character.

Thanks to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for access to an early audio copy of this book.

Very cool, quick read. Gave me Illuminae Files vibes without the crazy AI. The audiobook was well done, found it easy to listen and pay attention to, unlike some audiobooks that are just too monotone.

This was FUN. High action, fantastic dialogue, laugh-out-loud funny, progressively more suspense. My favorite aspect of this story is that questions are posed throughout the entirety. Aspects you thought were understood suddenly were thrown into question. It is a book that you immediately want to re-read once you have finished it. Knowing what you know now, re-read the story and catch all those little hints that you completely missed the first time around.

The audiobook was fantastic, the narrators did an exceptional job. The female narrator carried the majority of the book and they did an excellent job at distinguishing the characters without sounding fake or forced.

HIGHLY recommend this to those looking for a fast-paced space heist to bring levity to your day, especially in audiobook format.

I really enjoyed this sci-fi novel - it was short and super engaging, and I like the twists and turns at the end. I'll definitely be reading the next one right away! I listened to the audiobook and I LOVED it, I highly recommend it since the main character is snarky and witty and the narrator did an excellent job.

🌈Queer rep: secondary nonbinary character

I enjoyed this fast-paced space heist story. I liked the characters and would have liked more time spent on getting to know them.

This is the sort of story where its very clear that the main character is hiding something from everyone (including the reader) but it isn't revealed until the end. This hiding and reveal felt a little clunky to me and I think I would have liked it better if it hadn't been so very clear how much Ada was keeping from everyone.

I liked how we get the addition of Rian's POV at the end, via incident reports, as he realizes what has happened.

The audiobook narrators were good. They did a good job bringing the characters to life and making them feel like real people. I enjoyed the experience of listening to it.

I definitely feel like there is more to explore with these characters and this universe and I look forward to continuing with the next installment of the story.

I can’t recommend the audiobook enough. I started listening on my walk into town yesterday and could not hit pause. Everything from the narrator, to the sassy-flirty bantering, to the high-stake twists and turns had me completely captivated.

We follow Ada, who at the VERY last minute is rescued from the wreckage of her ship that is rapidly running out of air. Despite the near brush with death, Ada’s hilarious, charming personality and stealthy determination quickly wins over her rescuers. Borderline delirious, she meets Rian, the sexy, stoic love interest who can’t help but don his heart eyes over Ada’s flirtations (that could give Penelope Garcia of Criminal Minds fame a run for her money). Gradually breaking down the barriers of the captain also, Ada is much smarter and craftier than she seems.

Besides the gripping, tense atmosphere and life-or-death stakes, the budding relationships between the characters added so much fun and humour to the story. Revis’ writing style never fails to keep you on the edge of your seat, and after a cold open like this, this story is addictive from the first page. So much plot is packed into this novella, which can be a little daunting particularly when you’ve slipped off the SCI-FI train for a while, but at no point was it overwhelming or too technical for me. Without spoiling, the ending was AMAZING and I cannot wait to see what's to come in the sequel in December. Highly recommend!

If you know me, you know this isn’t my typical fare but I read Beth Revis’ Across the Universe series in high school and when I saw this audio ARC on NG I obviously had to request it. And what a freaking ride. A FUN ride. A HEISTY ride. With a delightful dash of romance.

Listen I’m not the most brilliant when it comes to figuring out heist plots but I sorta kinda guessed who was double crossing who or who had ulterior motives. But what made this so fun is that, besides a solid post apocalyptic sci fi “the climate is fucked” world set up, it’s *funny*. Ada is so dry and witty and her banter with the rescue crew had me in stitches. She needles Ryan to no end (and he loves it).

Solid sci-fi is tough to do but the intricacies of this setting are almost warnings of what we could be in the future. Ruined earth that, while not uninhabitable, has become insufficient to support humans and resulted in multiple “earth” colonies on other planets. We talk about poverty, the morality of choice and what it means to have the luxury to choose certain paths, and the debate on who the good guys really are. Is it the government or the rebels? Probably neither and that complex morality exploration was A. timely and B. an interesting backdrop for two space cadets (affectionate) playing an insta attraction game of cat and mouse.

No HEA for now because this is only book 1 in a trilogy but I’m EXCITED to see what happens to Ada and Ryan in the next book!

A fast-paced heist adventure novella with a clever rogue main character.

I giggled and kicked my feet through this whole book. The balance between plot and character development is perfect. The pacing is fast, the world building is really well done. The banter between our FMC, Ada, and the man in charge of the mission, Rian, is top tier.

The ending of this book really elevated the whole experience. I wouldn't say it ends of a cliffhanger, but it definitely leaves you wanting to know more. Which is great! Because book two comes out in December and I will definitely be reading it.

Let's also take a moment to recognize the amazing narration work by Dara Rosenberg. Dara narrates the first 95% of this book from the POV of Ada and does such a good job of showcasing when the character is being sarcastic, or bratty, and also when her vulnerability accidentally comes through her armour of nonchalance. David Bendena voices Rian at the end of the book, and I hope we get more from Rian's POV in the next book because I'm so interested to know his thoughts on this whole adventure.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ALC.

Read this book if you love sci-fi heist adventures.

Well this was a fully packed short novella! I thought the world building was very well done, interesting and unique enough to stand out. Earth is a slowly dying planet but humans have colonized other Earths, where life can thrive. Ada Lamarr is running out of air while scavenging a crash site, but a well timed rescue in the form of a government ship picks her up. Rian White and his crew are on a classified mission, doing the basic background search on Ada doesn’t yield any red flags and they let her board, unaware she has a mission of her own.

I love me a space heist and Ada was a great character to follow. It was mysterious and fun. Her connection to Rian and their growing chemistry is hinted at throughout. Ada temporarily joins the Halifax crew and it added a fun camaraderie to the plot. The gag about Ada’s love of Earth food was cute. I’m definitely looking forward to the second book!

The audiobook narration performed by Dara Rosenberg and David Bendena was very pleasant and I loved the personality Dara created with Ada’s character. It had a charming and adventurous atmosphere.

Thank you to Dreamscape Lore for the listening copy to review.

This really is a fun and sexy time. I enjoyed this quick dip into a sci-fi heist. I have a feeling these little novellas could be as fun as Murderbot. Loved the characters, the plot and the banter was on point. Highly recommend if you want a fun book full of romantic tension and spunk.

Full speed to a crash landing is a fast paced sci-fi novella. We folllow Ada who gets picked up from a life threatening situation by a larger space ship and, even though she may have other plans, gets brought into their mission. While I do believe this was a fun and quite light hearted sci-fi novella, a few things didn’t really work for me.

This is marketed as a romance as well as sci-fi but I don’t think the romance was very well developed or a very significant part of the plot. Furthermore, this audiobook has two narrators however the male main character only gets a POV towards the very end of the novella. I think it might have been nice to see a little more from his perspective throughout. Also, I never really connected to the characters, Ada was a little annoying at times and not a very interesting main character until her final chapter. The other characters were fine but not very distinct to me. Finally, while I understand that this is setting up to be a series, the ending felt unsatisfying and very open ended.

I would still recommend this if you want an easy and quirky little sci-fi story, there were just aspects of it that I didn’t love

When I first read this as an e-book, I knew immediately this would make a fantastic audiobook. I was not disappointed! This narration contains such emotion and snark, and it's perfect for the story.

This story is a wonderful surprise. You know from the start that Ada is not just a refugee saved from near death, but as her whole plan is slowly released as you read, it keeps you glued to the page. The tension with Rain throughout only helps build the suspense for the betrayal by Ada that you know is coming. A wonderful sci-fi adventure with an interesting but not difficult-to-understand world. I really enjoyed all of the characters as well; you get a strong enough picture of who they are even in such a short story.

I can't wait for the next installment.

This was a charming, adventurous novella! I don't read much Sci-Fi, and I found the technical aspects of space travel discussed to be the perfect level of detail that I was able to keep up with! I love the idea of a novella series for this type of story. I think the length was great.

To be honest, where this book first went wrong for me was with the audiobook narrators. There are two narrators (one for the heroine, one for the love interest's chapters). The heroine's narrator was way over the top, giving the voice a cartoonish quality. The main character is already kind of obnoxious, and this only intensified it. Our protagonist is of the Chaotic&Quirky variety, with the banter that never stops and is never really clever either. The chapters narrated by the love interest were also terrible, as they were given in a report-format. This led to a very dry recitation, constantly interrupted by footnotes that were called out by the narrator saying "Footnote: ..." If you are going to read this book, don't listen to the audiobook.

The next thing that bothered me was the technobabble. I do not expect perfect science in my scifi, and I think scifi can be more fun when it doesn't get hung up on what is currently proven. However, if a science fact is presented it should at least not be blatantly wrong. Even in just the first few chapters, this book was already riddled with characters confidently saying "facts" about physics that are in direct contradiction to how physics actually works (yes, mass still matters, even in outer space).

Also, a romance needs to be more than characters ogling each other, which is what this one felt like. Of course, with our heroine annoyingly yammering the whole time.

A video review including this book will be on my Youtube channel in the coming weeks, @ChloeFrizzle.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Full Speed to a Crash Landing went by so freaking quickly. In this, you will meet Ada. She's a lone scavenger who is dangerously low on oxygen. Eventually she is saved by a crew on the Halifax and charms her way into some friendships. Among the crew is Rian, who is in charge of a mission to retrieve something very special from a ruined spacecraft. The spacecraft that Ada was allegedly scouring metal from.

I really enjoyed whenever Rian and Ada talked to one another. They bantered, flirted, and somehow bonded. Sure, the flirting was typically one-sided, but Ada made it fun. Then the betrayal happened but it was pretty obvious it was coming. He, and the crew, just weren't listening to her and now they have to deal with the consequences.

The cliffhanger is a dagger to the heart. It's such a short book filled with action and drama, that I'm annoyed with how it ended. I'm also wondering if we will get more romance in the next book. Okay, maybe I'm more than wondering and absolutely begging for it. More action, drama, and romance please because I need a reunion between these two stat!

In the end, I devoured this audiobook in one sitting and can't wait for the next one to be available.
