Super fun read, I loved the setting and character building. I can’t wait for the next book! Thanks NetGallery!

When I first read this as an e-book, I knew immediately this would make a fantastic audiobook. I was not disappointed! This narration contains such emotion and snark, and it's perfect for the story.

This story is a wonderful surprise. You know from the start that Ada is not just a refugee saved from near death, but as her whole plan is slowly released as you read, it keeps you glued to the page. The tension with Rain throughout only helps build the suspense for the betrayal by Ada that you know is coming. A wonderful sci-fi adventure with an interesting but not difficult-to-understand world. I really enjoyed all of the characters as well; you get a strong enough picture of who they are even in such a short story.

I can't wait for the next installment.

This was a charming, adventurous novella! I don't read much Sci-Fi, and I found the technical aspects of space travel discussed to be the perfect level of detail that I was able to keep up with! I love the idea of a novella series for this type of story. I think the length was great.

To be honest, where this book first went wrong for me was with the audiobook narrators. There are two narrators (one for the heroine, one for the love interest's chapters). The heroine's narrator was way over the top, giving the voice a cartoonish quality. The main character is already kind of obnoxious, and this only intensified it. Our protagonist is of the Chaotic&Quirky variety, with the banter that never stops and is never really clever either. The chapters narrated by the love interest were also terrible, as they were given in a report-format. This led to a very dry recitation, constantly interrupted by footnotes that were called out by the narrator saying "Footnote: ..." If you are going to read this book, don't listen to the audiobook.

The next thing that bothered me was the technobabble. I do not expect perfect science in my scifi, and I think scifi can be more fun when it doesn't get hung up on what is currently proven. However, if a science fact is presented it should at least not be blatantly wrong. Even in just the first few chapters, this book was already riddled with characters confidently saying "facts" about physics that are in direct contradiction to how physics actually works (yes, mass still matters, even in outer space).

Also, a romance needs to be more than characters ogling each other, which is what this one felt like. Of course, with our heroine annoyingly yammering the whole time.

A video review including this book will be on my Youtube channel in the coming weeks, @ChloeFrizzle.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Lore for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Full Speed to a Crash Landing went by so freaking quickly. In this, you will meet Ada. She's a lone scavenger who is dangerously low on oxygen. Eventually she is saved by a crew on the Halifax and charms her way into some friendships. Among the crew is Rian, who is in charge of a mission to retrieve something very special from a ruined spacecraft. The spacecraft that Ada was allegedly scouring metal from.

I really enjoyed whenever Rian and Ada talked to one another. They bantered, flirted, and somehow bonded. Sure, the flirting was typically one-sided, but Ada made it fun. Then the betrayal happened but it was pretty obvious it was coming. He, and the crew, just weren't listening to her and now they have to deal with the consequences.

The cliffhanger is a dagger to the heart. It's such a short book filled with action and drama, that I'm annoyed with how it ended. I'm also wondering if we will get more romance in the next book. Okay, maybe I'm more than wondering and absolutely begging for it. More action, drama, and romance please because I need a reunion between these two stat!

In the end, I devoured this audiobook in one sitting and can't wait for the next one to be available.

A delightfully quirky sci-fi space adventure novel where an always-hungry scavenger with a hole in her ship is rescued by a government vessel investigating a distress call. Lots of cute banter, even about lentils, between the scavenger and the ship’s crew, especially their mission leader. There’s a twist that left me wanting more in this smart and lighthearted romp. The audiobook narrator did a very good job with the many different voices and accents.
My thanks to the author, publisher, audiobook producer, and #NetGalley for providing early access to the audiobook of #FullSpeedtoaCrashLanding for review purposes.
Publication date: August 6, 2024. I hope it’s not too long a wait for the sequel!

ada lamarr is a scavenger that finds herself needing rescue during a job, and winds up helping the ship halifax's crew that rescues her find an important piece of cargo on the crash site she was scavenging. the alluring government agent, rian white, doesn't trust her, but takes her help and realizes she is more than she seems. set against the backdrop of vast open space and an unstable, primordial lava planet, ada finds that it isn't so easy juggling a hot man, espionage, and the endless abyss of space. (except, for her, it is.)

this was such a fun, well-paced, entertaining space opera. it's going to be a trilogy of short book (<200 pages) and it honestly feels like the perfect length. full of sharp wit, banter, and cleverness, if i wasn't sticking around for the plot, i was sticking around for the characters. ada is so chaotic in such a fun way, and really carries the whole thing. i can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy.

the narrator brings so much life to the audiobook. she sounds a little like ella purnell as jinx in arcane, but less throaty. 5 stars for her.

This novella was a great little sci-fi escape after some heavier reading. Full Speed to a Crash Landing tells the story of Ada Lamarr, a looter with questionable morals whose journey begins with her almost dying after her spacecraft is damaged and ends with her playing an unexpected role on a secret intergalactic government mission (while maybe even falling in love?). The narration was great and I found myself laughing at Ada’s hilarious interactions with the other characters. I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes in book 2!
Would recommend it to anyone looking for something cute, short, and funny!

A ship's crashed on a protoplanet and if someone doesn't come rescue Ada's broken ship soon, she won't be any better off. When a government salvage ship finally answers her call, it's clear that both she and the crew of the ship know something about the crash.

On the first read, I sometimes felt that too much of Ada's knowledge was being concealed from the reader even though she was the POV character. It became more clear what she was hiding in the end, but it was occasionally frustrating when it was obvious that there was information that Ada knew that I didn't.

On a second read, I really enjoyed the subtle clues laid out throughout the book for the direction in ended up going. This is a book that lends itself well to rereads when you can better understand what Ada both is, and intentionally isn't, saying.

I thought the narrators did a wonderful job bringing the story and Ada to life.

A Sci-fi novella perfect for fans of The Murderbot Diaries and Star Trek. Ada is low on oxygen and the neighboring ship seems to be ignoring her distress call up until the last possible moment. Now a refugee on the ship that took their time to save her, Ada enjoys the improved food options and offers her assistance in helping her new crew carryout their mission. Everyone is keeping secrets which will have you wondering, who is fooling who.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC of the audiobook.

Thank you DAW, Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the advance reading copy. I enjoyed this female lead science fiction novella. The dual POV highlighted two very good narrators. The pace of this novella was perfect to keep the reader engaged

This was a fun novella! Intriguing start to a series, I really liked the main character and was bamboozled by the heist. Loved the ending and look forward to the next book! I could have done without the romance and still enjoyed it just as much.

The narrators were both great! I thought the narrator for Ada's POV really brought her to life well and I loved the way her voice sounds.

A fun, quick, easy read!
Very enjoyable, had me smiling most of the way through, would definitely carry on with the series.
Narrator was a tiny bit annoying but not enough to stop listening

What a fun ride, I can't wait for book two! We get a space adventure thriller with a spunky, funny, witty, fiercely independent mfc and a grumpy mmc. I'm a sucker for short chapters, and this novella is filled with a lot and definitely makes you rethink all it took for you to be here. I didn't see the "sexy" part of this book, but it's still such a fun sci-fi ride!!!
