I’ve been really really curious about it, and what a ride it was ! The book is romantic, cosy and a little mysterious and i loved it!! It gave all the feel of the ‘90s Austin’s music panorama and the chemistry between the characters was so real!
This adorable love story makes you feel all the feels. it is cozy, includes a dog (I bet that would get people to read it), and is about music, which is one of my passions too. i really like their characters, and their little scavengehunt. I think overall that Luke is a perfect gentleman. HOWEVER, that is also one of my main critiques, he turns out not to be perfect, and id just like to say that a bit of lying is involved, which i guess is kind of the plot line, but made me want him as my book boyfriend much less, especially considering the fact that there was no good reason for lying. but i mean who am i to decide on the quality of you guys's book boyfriends, he was perfect in any other sense. i definitely recommend this cute little story, especially if you like cowboys and country music.
Thank you to netgalley and the authors for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review!
Eleanor Hayes’ deep dive into Austin’s vibrant music scene makes for a charming and unconventional love story in this delightful blend of mystery and romance. Eleanor’s determination to uncover the story behind a mysterious 1993 photo leads her into an adventure filled with live music, quirky clubs, and a sizzling partnership with music promoter Luke Wyatt. Their chemistry crackles as they chase clues, balancing heartfelt moments with laugh-out-loud awkward encounters. The vivid depiction of Austin’s nightlife, paired with the dynamic banter between Eleanor and Luke, keeps the pages turning. While the mystery occasionally takes a backseat to the romance, the story’s charm and the duo’s growing connection more than make up for it. A heartwarming read that celebrates music, love, and the unexpected joys of discovery.
I really enjoyed this author's writing. I haven't read anything by them before, but I really got into the story and the pacing of it. The characters were well developed and lovable.
Omg, Luke might have just become my new favourite book boyfriend. I absolutely adored him, and Eleanor was so loveable too!
I loved reading their romance and seeing them develop as characters throughout. I also liked that it was dual POV as it made me really connect with both of them.
My one issue was the miscommunication throughout, it felt quite easily resolvable and it was a little frustrating seeing it unravel.
I can’t wait to read more from Lolu Sinclair!
Thank you so much to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc. 🫶🏻
This had all the elements of a GREAT novel, what with the music, and food trucks, and amazing city setting, but fell flat. I was very interested Eleanor's job of archivist. The "miscommunication" that was the heart of the climax of the novel was so minor and became so overblown it really ruined it for me.
This book is like a mixtape of all your favorite things—swoony romance, quirky banter, and a love letter to Austin’s music scene. Eleanor is delightfully awkward in a way that’s so relatable, and watching her step out of her comfort zone is as heartwarming as it is hilarious. Luke? Total book boyfriend material—charming, supportive, and just the right amount of trouble. The chemistry between them is chef’s kiss perfection, and the scavenger hunt through 6th Street’s iconic haunts gives the story so much heart. If you’ve ever fallen for a city, a song, or a boy with a mischievous grin, Lost Love on 6th Street will hit you right in the feels.
A wonderful he Chases her young love, romance novel. Where does he fall in love? Downtown Austin, which —just like in really life—is a character in this story. There are two towns for music and Austin is one of them. Tropes of he falls first, common interest, finding yourself, friends to lovers, new adult, all with a supportive cast of downtown’s creative minds. Oh, youth.
"Lost Love on 6th Street" is an open-door romance between a book-wormish photo archivist and a successful band promoter, set in Austin.
When Eleanor Hayes comes across a photocopy of an image in the Reeder Music Archives, she is unexpectedly drawn into identifying who the woman posing outside a local nightclub is. That pull leads Eleanor to meet the charming Luke Wyatt, who has been around the Austin music scene all of his life.
As they begin to follow clues that eventually lead to the identity of the woman, they fall in love. But their story isn't without its problems. The question is, can they survive the secrets they reveal?
Overall, I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.
Thank you to Lolu Sinclair, Lost Lust and NetGalley for an advance review copy.
As an Austinite I was excited to read a book based in this cool city but the love story fell short for me. I didn’t like how pushy the main male character was and kind of gave me the wrong vibe.
It was too much fast for me, it was fluffy and sweet but the pace was too quick from what I actually like, I felt like it was fun too rainbows and unicorns and well, I did feel like it could be better
thank you so much NetGallery for allowing me to read and review this book in advance.
this book was a cute read, but I loved the premise more than I liked the actual book. the story dragged a little bit unfortunately, and I found it a little hard to get into it. the writing had potential however, and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
A upbeat story about Eleanor and Luke - Eleanor becomes fixated about a photo whilst working as an archivist in Texas, enter Luke who is charismatic and knows everything there is about the Texan music scene. There is great tension between the two leads and the will they, won't they is something that leaves you guessing until the very end. Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy.
Eleanor and Luke had a cute, fluffy romance with a little bit of mystery mixed in. While Eleanor is pursuing her career as a music archivist, she gets thrown into an adventure with music promoter Luke. The vibes of the music scene in Austin were such a nice touch to this feel-good insta love romance. Overall, this book is worth a read with its unique plot and sweet characters!
A very sweet and adorable read, because Luke and Eleanor had so many sweet moments that made me swoon and giggle.
They had such a perfect chemistry.
Thank you @Netgalley and @LostLust for my for my eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Read if you like
- southern-charm vibes but no cowboy romance
- music romance with MCs that aren’t musicians
- quick love
I enjoyed the first half of this book much more than the second, I guess I'm more for pining characters than the part where they actually become a couple. I was very intrigued by the premise of this book and the first part certainly delivered in that. I wished it covered more of that story, instead of using it as an inciting accident and half-way through kind of forgetting about it and then getting back to it towards the end. But I did have a little cry towards the end, which totally caught me off guard.
No spoilers, but I would have wanted to see much more of the secondary characters, especially the MMC's mum and the dog rescue lady (excuse the choice of words but I don't want to spoiler anything), it felt a bit abrupt to include them only in the last couple of chapters.
I would have rated this higher if some sentences of the MMC's POV didn't sound completely like a man-written-by-a-woman, to the point of sounding a bit too fanfiction-y. Like "A lock of my hair has fallen on my forehead, and I don’t have a spare hand to put it back in place."
I also would have rated this higher if some sentences around the 60% mark didn't give me the absolute ick. I absolutely HATE the “not-like-other-girls” trope, like I don’t even have words to explain how much I despise it. So sentences like this one: “She’s so focused that she’s not trying to suck in her stomach the way most women do.” kind of put me off a little bit. Not writing off the whole book because of that, but that line put into perspective a simmering feeling I had throughout that the author was trying to give off those vibes about the FMC without actually saying it.
2.5 stars.
This might well be a hit in music circles, librarian circles, and the Venn diagram where these elements collide with mystery and romance. I wanted to love this story about a music archivist teaming up with a music promoter who might be a bit of a player. The Austin specific references will be a delight for local Texans or tourists who visit for the music or film scene. From a romance point of view, Luke falling for Eleanor first was sweet and swoony, but the immaturity, the pacing, and my lack of interest in mysteries made it a miss for me. I started it, got 10% through, put it down, went back to it and had to start over becuase I couldn't remember a thing about it, started over, read 25% and started skimming, and finally gave up.

“Lost Love on 6th Street” is a delightful blend of romance, mystery, and Austin’s lively music scene. Eleanor Hayes, a quirky archivist, embarks on an unexpected adventure after discovering a captivating photo from 1993. Her journey leads her into the world of Luke Wyatt, a charismatic music promoter, and together they chase down clues while navigating their growing chemistry.
The story is filled with witty dialogue, endearing characters, and vivid depictions of Austin’s dive bars and legendary clubs. Eleanor and Luke’s connection is electric, making their adventure as much about their own romance as the mystery they’re solving.
Perfect for anyone who loves a heartfelt romance wrapped in the vibrant backdrop of music and a city full of surprises. Highly recommended!
"Lost Love on 6th Street" by Lolu Sinclair is a touching exploration of love, loss, and the intricacies of human relationships. Set against a lively urban backdrop, it captures the essence of city life while diving deep into the emotional journeys of its characters. Sinclair's writing is both poetic and evocative, inviting readers into the personal thoughts and feelings of the protagonists.
The characters are richly developed, each facing their own challenges and desires, which adds layers to the narrative. Sinclair skillfully illustrates the complexities of love—its joys and sorrows—throughout the book. The dialogue feels genuine, enhancing the relatability of the characters and their experiences.
However, some readers might find the pacing inconsistent, with certain parts feeling prolonged while others rush through key moments. Additionally, while the themes of love and loss are relatable, the specific cultural references may not resonate with everyone, which could limit its broader appeal.
In summary, "Lost Love on 6th Street" is a heartfelt story that captures the essence of yearning and the bittersweet nature of love. It is a valuable read for those who enjoy character-driven narratives that reflect on the complexities of human emotions.
Lost Love on 6th Street **Review**
This book was great! I love Nor :) I loved the cowboy thing about Luke! I think after this book I will read Elsie Silver series. I loved Nor's personality, I understood her actions and agreed with them. She was a great FC. Luke was a good MC, I wished he did do somethings differently but overall, he was great! I would say he's part of my book boyfriends list. Now, with the story, it was a great story. The book was very fast paced, I really submerged myself in the book and forgot about the outside world while reading it. I loved the Austin representation to the point I want to visit it one day. Both were awesome together and separately which was really nice. I loved how they relationship progressed. The dog's representation was awesome!!! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because I feel like the end was a little rushed for me, I wanted more of them together before the Epilogue, but that's of course my personal opinion.
Can't wait to read more of Lolu's books.
I want to thank NetGalley and Lolu Sinclair for letting me have an ARC of this book.
