This book hooked me right from the start. Freida did a great job of creating twists that no one expects.

Tegan is pregnant and alone. On a drive to her brother's house in Maine she is overcome by a blizzard and crashes her car. A stranger arrives to help, or not. Tegan finds herself trapped in a basement with a broken ankle and a very pregnant belly, both hindering her escape. Her only friend is the baby inside and Tegan will do anything to protect her.

This mystery is full of interesting characters and plot twists. Just when you think you've got it figure out (and I thought that pretty early on!) the story turns and a new motive is revealed. This was the perfect book to binge on a snowy, post-holiday day-off.

This book was excellent! Probably my new favorite by Freida. It really kept me hooked and was able to finish it in a couple days. It wasn't just a thriller, it also made me think about the situation and how I would have reacted in the same situation. Would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Not my favorite Freida McFadden, but, still very surprising. Just when I think I've figured it out. NOPE!

This book was absolutely enthralling and I am thrilled and honoured to have gotten an ARC copy. Thank you so much to Freida for another remarkable book. The perspective shifts were amazing, the moral of the story was beautifully integrated. This has probably taken number 1 of the Freida books I’ve read! I did not want to put it down pretty much as soon as I picked it up. I felt for all of the characters in such a deep way and some of the story really resonated with me on a personal level. Thank you for another addictive read!!!

This book had me hooked from the beginning! In typical Freida style, just when you think you know the plot twist and where the book is headed next – you don’t. This was a 4.5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5 for me. If you are looking for a psychological thriller with dual POV, as well as a wintery snowstorm (perfect for the winter weather in its release month of January) and crash in a desolate area – grab this book! I couldn’t have been more thrilled and appreciative to receive an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley and to have received an invitation from the author’s team.

Yet again, another fabulous read that did not disappoint. This story had me on edge for nearly the entire book. I loved the storyline from both main characters perspectives. The twist at the end caught me off guard, just when I thought the “who done it” had been figured out.

Personally, I enjoyed this read the most for 2 reasons.
1. As the reader, I was truly unable to side with one party throughout the book. I was back and forth multiple times and the end really tied things together. I loved that so much good came from poor actions and ultimately there was no “bad guy”. Both parties benefitted from the encounter, despite how poorly things could have ended.

2. I loved the closing message.

As constructive criticism, I would give this read a TW for those struggling with infertility as it may escalate emotions.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have been chosen to read this as ARC! I have previously read all of Freida’s books and this one, like the others- kept me on the edge of my seat unable to put it down while trying to figure out what would happen next. Like her other psychological thrillers, she got me! Freida’s twists at the end of her books always take me for a loop! The Crash was an easy read and a great book! Five Stars.

This book was amazing! It kept me reading the entire time; when I had to put it down to do something I had the hardest time picking a spot. Of course, it always had the classic twist at the end that I never seen coming. In my opinion it’s one of the best of her books.

The Crash. Wow! Freida did it again. The book starts slow introducing Tegan, her past, and more about the baby. However, a few chapters in, it’s a roller coaster ride from there! You experience all of the emotions with Tegan: heartbreak, pain, love, loneliness. There are so many twists and turns, you will be guessing until the very end!

My adult kids and I love all the Freida books and this was another great one! I was quickly swept up into the mystery of who killed who and the craziness of Tegan's accident and being carried off to a home to recover from her car accident. I love trying to figure out everything...although I was so ready for Tegan to get away already!!

This made for a fun afternoon at home after Christmas while I sat by the fire.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this story right from the beginning. It has multiple twists, I think I was the most shocked by the last one. This book seemed a little different from others that I have read of Freida’s, though still had a lot of the same elements. This seems to have a more complex plot than some others. I love there were 2 different happy endings as well as forgiveness.

This was so good. It was different than Frieda’s other books but there was still quite a twist at the end. I couldn’t put this down because I wanted to know what happened.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for this ARC.

Freida is either a hit or miss for me. And this book was a hit. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

I couldn't put it down! When I wasn't reading it all I thought about was when I could pick it up again.

Thank you to @poisonedpenpress @netgalley for the ARC of this book! It comes out Jan.28th!

Tegan’s life isn’t going the way she planned. She’s broke, alone, and expecting. Then Tegan is in a crash during a snow storm. The rest unfolds in only Freida fashion and you won’t know who to believe!

The characters in this one are so well written that you understand and have empathy for each of them. I was amazed at the character development in this novel- probably one of my favorites of the season. And you know in a McFadden book— beware of the twist!

Time to preorder this one! Everyone will be talking about it!

Freida McFadden's latest psychological thriller, "The Crash," is a gripping, edge-of-your-seat read that showcases the author's mastery of the genre. Set against the backdrop of a treacherous blizzard in rural Maine, the novel follows Tegan, an eight-month pregnant woman desperate to escape her crumbling life.
McFadden expertly weaves a complex narrative, alternating between past and present, creating a locked-room style thriller that keeps readers guessing until the very end13. The author's ability to build suspense is evident as she draws readers into a deadly situation where trust is a luxury Tegan cannot afford.
The plot is masterfully crafted, with McFadden introducing a cast of supporting characters that serve as potential red herrings, each with their own motives that may threaten Tegan and her unborn child1. This keeps readers on their toes, constantly questioning who can be trusted and who harbors ulterior motives.
One of the novel's strengths lies in its pacing. McFadden drives the story forward with an insanely suspenseful rhythm, combining all elements to create a deadly scene that culminates in an unbelievable reveal13. The author's skill in pushing both characters and readers to their limits before delivering a shocking twist is on full display here.
"The Crash" also explores themes of isolation, vulnerability, and the lengths one might go to for survival. Tegan's predicament – stranded, injured, and at the mercy of strangers – creates a claustrophobic atmosphere that adds to the overall tension of the story5.
McFadden's background as a physician specializing in brain injury lends authenticity to the medical aspects of the story, enhancing the realism of Tegan's situation6. This medical knowledge, combined with her storytelling prowess, results in a thriller that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally engaging.
While the novel's premise might seem familiar to thriller aficionados, McFadden's execution sets "The Crash" apart. Her ability to maintain suspense, create complex characters, and deliver unexpected twists makes this book a standout in the psychological thriller genre.
In conclusion, "The Crash" is a testament to Freida McFadden's growing reputation as a master of suspense. It's a complex, gut-wrenching thriller that will keep readers guessing until the final page, cementing McFadden's place as a formidable force in the thriller genre

Okay QUEEN FRIEDA!

This was such a quick, grab you from page 1, hold you ‘til the end, bone gripping thriller. When I tell you, I was hooked from the first page, I mean it. Of course. I thought I had the ending on lock, but I was mistaken. The twist ROCKED me! This book took a turn I was absolutely not expecting and it kept me both on edge and WAITING for the next twist to come. Bravo, Freida!
