Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press & NetGalley for providing a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I do not get the hype around Freida McFadden, and this book just makes me more confused about it. It actually makes me long for books like The Coworker, which I read with disgust but at least it had a good twist and some comeuppance for the shitty characters. This one is just Misery with pregnancy and an accomplice.

OF COURSE, there's a blizzard. OF COURSE, Teagan is heavily pregnant. And poor. OF COURSE there's a huge misunderstanding about who is actually dangerous once she finds herself in Hank and Polly's basement.

FMC Teagan is TSTL in many ways, so much so that it's impossible to relate to her and difficult to root for her. Can't say I agreed with Polly for judging her without knowing her backstory, BUT Teagan seemed very eager to put herself in harm's way with her pregnancy (perhaps because she's so young? who knows). Hard to root for any of these idiots. really. Only redeeming character is the little girl (who exists as a prop to tie up the ending and for no other reason), with Hank being the runner up. Best things I can say is it's an easy read - like 5th grade level writing.

I gotta stop hate-reading these lol. I keep hoping one will surprise me and be great, but am continually disappointed.

WOW!!! I had an opportunity to read in advance of the release date in exchange for a review. Genuinely loved this plot line, and did not see the twist coming at all. It’s my favorite Frieda book! The characters were well developed and the plot kept me turning the pages in anticipation of what was coming next.

I feel like there are so many paths that Frieda could have taken with the ending, but I cannot love the one she picked enough!! Truly my favorite and I cannot wait for the book to be available so that my co-workers can read it! I need someone to talk to about the twists and turns she chose! 10/10 would recommend!

I was very lucky to receive an arc copy of this book. Once again Freida smashed it! This book had me gripped from the very start and I found myself not wanting to put it down! I did see a couple of twists coming but I could never have guessed some of them! Freida's books always keep me guessing right until the very end! Absolutely loved this book

This book had me gripped from the onset. Tegan is imagining life as a single mother with her first child due shortly. After she gets into a car accident in the snow, it’s hard to tell if her good samaritans who have taken her in want to help, or harm her.

Like with all Frieda McFadden books this had me guessing (albeit incorrectly!) throughout and had the perfect amount of twists to keep me going.

The Crash is quite a whirlwind of a book! The actual crash is only the beginning of what will be a twisty road to the end of this thriller! I kept holding my breath before turning the pages to see what would happen next! I never expected the ending or even the twist BEFORE the end. This was a great and wild ride!

The Crash, ARC read, By Freida McFadden
Release date: 1/28/25

The story follows Tegan, an early 20s girl who is broke like a joke and 8 months pregnant. Trying to make the best choices for her unborn baby aka “little tuna” she gets in a car to go visit her brother but a storm comes. She wrecks her car and goes unconscious. Little does she know her “rescue” turns into more of a nightmare that doesn’t end!

I gave 4 stars only because I predicted one part of the story line but in true Freida fashion I did not see the ending coming and the twist of “who did it”!

This is sure to be a perfect winter storm, snowed in type of thriller! Especially with vibes like the movie Misery with Kathy Bates!

Freida did it again and I loved it!

I've always really enjoyed Freida Mcfadden's books, but I devoured this one. As per usual for Freida, there were some twists that I couldn't quite predict. Highly recommend picking this up in January when it's released!

The Crash is another great read by Freida McFadden that is packed full of twists and turns. As is McFaddens style you are convinced you know what is happening and what will happen as you read this book. However things don’t always work out in the way you think. I was hooked on this book from the very beginning and read it in two sittings. This was a difficult book to stop reading when you finished a chapter as every chapter I was like OMG I can’t stop here. I’m not rehashing the book description in my review as that can all be read in the book blurb. If you’re a fan of fast and twisty reads then I can highly recommend this one.

This story is an amazing roller coaster ride through the life of Tegan. She has everything against her, except the love of her supportive brother. She finds herself in another difficult situation and has no one to call on.

This book was captivating and had me hooked right from the start, I felt the depth of each character and I found myself in a love/ hate relationship with some of them!

I loved the ease of the writing but the twists you never saw were what made it so enjoyable and engaging.

The Crash was another great read by Freida McFadden! I have read all of her books and this one did not disappoint! I loved all the twists and turns and I read it in two days! This is definitely one of my favorites of hers! I just couldn’t put it down and was dying to know how it was going to end. Once again I thought I knew what was going to happen, but Freida fooled me again!
Thank you to NetGalley, Mandy Chahal and Poisened Pen Press for this ARC!

Diving into The Crash I was a bit skeptical at first. I feel like the twists lately have been anticlimactic, so was surprised when I didn’t see the twists in this one. For a little while in the middle I felt like the story became repetitive, but then it ironed out and I was able to stay immersed wondering what was next! I hope Freida keeps this approach with her future books!

So, as per usual, I finished this in less than 24 hours. I’m not sure what it is with her writing but I just cannot get enough of Freida! This was a perfect release just in time for winter. The snowy, (not so cozy) winter cabin vibes was such a good choice and fit this story perfectly. This book was giving a bit of No Exit /Misery vibes and I was ALL HERE FOR IT. Loved the multiple POVs throughout, and really enjoyed the few unexpected turns towards the end. I did enjoy the ending, but I didn’t find it to be as much of a WOW factor as her previous books.

PS: Little Tuna lives rent free in my head now.

5⭐️ this is easily a top 5 Freida book. I loved the whole thing. It was like the surrogate mother but definitely took a different twist to it. It kept me on my toes and I genuinely had no clue how it was going to go. The amount of times I sat up and gasped like WHAT was crazy. There were absolutely no loose ends and it was such a great put together winter thriller. (Glad the ending didn’t have a cliffhanger this time cause we know we ain’t getting a sequel lol.) Freida did it again and did not disappoint.

Wow! I finished this book in two days because I was determined to see if my theories were right. Some of them ended up being correct and the others the author did a great job of redirecting and surprising. But what’s nice is, the clues were there. I just didn’t put everything together until the ‘twist’ was revealed. As you all know, this author is extremely hit or miss for me. I thought this book was a hit. It was well written in that it had a good flow. The pacing could have been a bit stronger since some parts felt a little repetitive but I did also read it nonstop, so if broken up it might not have been so obnoxious at points. While the story is basic and can be predictable at times I didn’t let that bother me. Instead I just focused on the fact that this is a fictionalized story and maybe in this universe anything could happen. Thinking that way allowed me to enjoy the story because I was able to not overthink every little detail. Overall, I thought this story was solid. I was thoroughly engrossed from start to finish.

Thank you Poisoned Press publishing, Freida McFadden and Mandy Chatham for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

“Tegan is eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move. But she doesn't realize she's heading straight into a blizzard.
She never arrives at her destination.
Stranded in rural Maine with a dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she's made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle occurs: she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.
But something isn't right. Tegan believed she was waiting out the storm, but as time ticks by, she comes to realize she is in grave danger. This safe haven isn't what she thought it was, and staying here may have been her most deadly mistake yet.
And now she must do whatever it takes to save herself—and her unborn child.”

Another twisty tale that leaves you on the edge of your seat! Once I started it I couldn’t put it down. So emotions involved it will probably make you want to scream and throw your phone, kindle, book maybe even your headphones. 5/5 she did it again!

Freida has done it again! I was hooked from the beginning and every page turn left me wondering what would happen next. It’s not as “twisty” as some of her other works, but it does keep you guessing and does still include a few surprises, which I’m a sucker for! You will not be able to put The Crash down.

This was an engaging and suspenseful read. There was a twist that I did not see coming. I have enjoyed reading other books by the author and this book did not disappoint! If someone is looking for a suspenseful thriller set in winter, then this book is for you! Can't wait to read another book by this author.

I’m pretty sure I stopped breathing with anticipation. This was WILD. In typical Freida fashion, I could not predict this no matter how hard I tried. Demolished this in one day because I simply NEEDED to know!

She did it again this book was very good and I never saw the ending coming! I highly recommend this book!

Freida has done it yet AGAIN! I could not put the dang book down. a TRUE page turner. I loved the different characters POV and truly found myself trying to catch my breath at times. Personally i think this was Freida’s scariest book yet (but that could be in part of finding the scenario Teagan was in truly TERRIFYING). It’s the perfect winter read and it’s a read i would suggest to anyone who’s currently in a reading slump.
