I have previously reviewed That's Not My Name by Megan Lally and enjoyed that, so I knew I had to read No Place Left To Hide as soon as I could. The description gave I Know What You Did Last Summer vibes and I was here for it.
The story followed Brooke as she was being harassed by someone regarding an incident where a girl died months before. We get flashbacks to right before it happen and trying to guess what actually happen. We also get current time as Brooke is waiting to hear if she gets into Yale as a legacy because of her father. Right from the beginning I did not like Brooke really. She was definitely entitled and also not very mature in how she was handling things. I get her not wanting to draw attention to her issues, but the sheer lack of control she had should have been her sign.
I love how Lally keeps the story flowing. I did not feel like there was any lulls in the story or moments when I wanted it to be more. Her writing kept me hooked and the story flowed fast enough to keep me turning the page. The characters were all interesting and had me guessing throughout to try and figure out who I thought was behind it all.
The only reason I didn't give this book a 5-star review is because of the ending. I felt that while the story was great and the climax was intense and thrilling, it then screeched to a halt. The lack of consequences for some at the end seemed unrealistic. I felt that was only believable if the police investigating everything were completely incompetent. Some things were just too obvious for the cops to not look into more. I also wish we would have heard just a bit more at the end to wrap it up.
With that, the story was still great and I loved how intense it was. Megan Lally definitely knows how to keep you on your toes! I will be picking up all future Megan Lally books after this.

No Place Left to Hide was a fast-paced read with a compelling mystery following two girls who find themselves targeted on an isolated road.
Brooke Goodwin has worked hard to repair her reputation since "the incident" that threatened to take it all away. Getting into her dream university is just icing on the cake so when her classmates want to celebrate their college acceptances, Brooke can't say no. After a perfect night, Brooke and her best friend begin the ninety minute drive back home when an old truck starts aggressively tailing them. Someone thinks they know what really happened the night of "the incident" and they won't stop until the truth is exposed.
No Place Left to Hide alternates chapters between present day and six months prior when "the incident" took place. The dual timelines was a great choice as it helped build up to the reveal of why someone was after Brooke. In the flashback chapters we learn something major happened at a party Brooke hosted to celebrate the start of senior year. It doesn't take long for us to learn what happened between the clues revealed in the two timelines although the full truth of what happened does take longer to come out. I was really invested in the flashback chapters, wondering how we'd go from a fun party to something much darker.
The present day chapters are where the bulk of the suspense and action in the story are. After a few chapters of set up, we get to the part with Brooke and Jena trapped in Brooke's car as someone is chasing them down which is the majority of the present day section. With the two of them in danger, Brooke reveals to Jena that someone has been harassing her for months after the special investigation into what happened rules it an accident. It becomes clear that whoever Brooke's stalker is, they're also the one chasing her but the author does a good job keeping their identity shielded. The ending of the book is incredibly well done and contained several twists I didn't see coming. We also get an epilogue of sorts where we see the planning and aftermath of what happened which was an excellent choice.
Overall No Place Left to Hide was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a quick thriller.
I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I would definitely read more from this author!

Loved! I was a big fan of Megan Lally’s last book, that’s not my name. While I liked that one better, this was still good and surprisingly good for a ya book as an adult reading

When you think you are going to finally get a fresh start but yet the past still manages to catch up and find you…. I loved this book, finished in a sitting to figure out where or not this girl is going to be able to outrun her past or not. Very interesting and a must read.

3.5 stars. Worth a read but not as satisfying as her debut novel. It was engaging enough to finish but not as memorable, unfortunately. I will definitely be reading her next one though. Megan is a great writer.

The end of the book left me speechless and I am still trying to wrap my mind around everything what had happened.
The pace was fast. The characters interesting but also at times annoying. The plot good but in my opinion there were things left open.

This book is crazy! I went in thinking it was going to be fairly tame but I was proven wrong in the best way!

A YA thriller that really grabs you from the beginning! I had high hopes for this one as I loved Lally’s That’s Not My Name. This book was insane, and I loved the big reveal at the end. While the ending was a bit rushed and one of the twists was very predictable, this book doesn’t get 5 star quality from me. However it is worthy of 4 stars. I really enjoyed it.

Her debut was amazing… what happened? This was beyond predicting. I guess the twists and turns were only on the road.

This was a fun YA thriller. A fast paced quick read with multiple twists throughout. Mean girl vibes with lots of drama!

A fast-paced and shocking story that was easy to read in just a couple of sittings, even if the characters are all rather unlikeable. I did guess the twist early on, but I do tend to do that for most thrillers, and that doesn't detract from the story.

Wow, a new favorite author for me. So well written and such a intriguing story! A page turner that kept me at the edge of my seat.

Honestly, I was so excited to read this as I immediately requested No Place Left to Hide after DEVOURING That’s not my Name. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat for me. Definitely giving 2000’s mean girls vibes with a thriller twist. Atmosphere was great. Just don’t think the book was exactly for me.

This is one swift and edgy ride (literally!). Delicious (maybe) antiheroine, high school settings, revenge and drama, what it is not to like?
Brooke, a highly competitive student, just got to Yale. High time to have a break from her studious year, her best friend Jenna says. There is a party and Brooke’s crush Dylan would be attending!
Brooke, who has a secret - she is being terrorized by a silent caller who has some kind of revenge on her, is unsure, but Dylan’s presence is a high motivator, so she goes. Her life is not to be shadowed by what has happened a year ago!
And the evening might be sweet, not for the memories and Claire’s brother. The dead Claire’s brother.
This is a good psychological thriller. I got some clues, but the twist was still unexpected. And the final twist, too!
And, what is not usually this way, the motivations of the characters were very logical when looking back!

Another HIT by this author! i love her YA thrillers, such easy reads, good pacing, and good twists I never see coming!

I really enjoyed the first book by this author but this one didn’t do it for me. Right from the start it felt too YA for my liking. Others will probably love it but it wasn’t my fave.

Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC! After loving this author’s debut I was super excited to read this new YA thriller. Unfortunately it was just okay for me. The character’s really bothered me for some reason, and so much of it seemed over the top. It was twisty and popcorn-thriller-y but overall it was just fine. I’m not sure I would go out of my way to recommend it to anyone. I’d steer them in the direction of the prior book by Megan Lally.

Rich people SUCK!! Finally got some consequences though 😏 Would have liked more than just a group chat epilogue, but it added a nice layer to the story
I COULD NOT put this book down!! It truly felt like a ride or die high speed chase the whole way through. 10/10 would recommend.
This is the second book by Megan Lally, and I think she is going to be an auto-buy author for me.
What a way to kick off the new year!

One of the YA thrillers I like and I devoured this upppppp! Very bingeable and I highly recommendddd
