This book unfortunately frustrated me beyond words, the characters were horrible, the plot was jumping all over the place and some scenarios I really couldn’t get behind. We’re presented with our main character - an overachieving girl, too damaged by her parents disinterest in anything in her life. Then we saw her interactions with another bored teenage girl that apparently played around with people for fun and then got mad when faced with consequences. A fake friend that I have no idea what was thinking or doing half the time and honestly I don’t care to figure out. Some random dudes that literally did nothing and had no personality for even a second. None of these characters were even believable, it was like reading about 2D cartoon people with no emotions or development besides drinking and fighting. I felt nothing for the characters, I wished them all to disappear by the end of the book. Not even one was likeable!!

2 stars for the entertainment as this was an entertaining albeit frustrating book to read.

Such a great read! I was completely hooked and could not spit it down. This book literally had me on the edge of my seat. The plot was good, the characters were great.

A fast paced thriller with an more than one axe to grind! The story felt like it went zero to sixty from page one and left me grappling to figure out what had happened in the past to cause the FMC to be so uptight. While the plot spoon feeds you clues some of them aren’t as obvious as others, so if you’re not paying attention you won’t see the final reveal coming. If you’re in the market for a good mystery with lots of twists and turns (no pun intended 😉) I highly recommend adding this one to your list!

Thanks to NetGalley & Sourcebooks Fire for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really fun and twisty thriller! I have to admit that I didn’t see the twists coming, and I really enjoyed unraveling them. Binged in 1 sitting.

I liked this more than the author’s debut novel That’s Not My Name. I enjoyed the dual timeline intertwining between the present and past that slowly reveals why the main character Brooke is in her current situation. There was lots of action throughout and the story overall was fast paced. I particularly enjoyed the teenage drama involving jealousy, frenemies and lots of plain old fighting. I appreciated that the story included unlikeable characters and some changed in ways that made me see them differently as the story progressed. I enjoyed the plot twists and the ending left me very satisfied. I’m eagerly awaiting this author’s next release!

Megan Lally has done it again! After reading two of her amazing thrillers 'That's Not My Name' and now her second book 'No Place Left to Hide', I'm officially a Megan Lally fan! This book took me by surprise near the end and had a few jaw droppers! My face near the end was like 😱🤯😭🫣. This thriller book has got it all: a mysterious stalker, terrifying car chase, mean girls, revenge, a dual timeline between the past and present, etc.
The main character Brooke works hard to get good grades and maintain a good image, to keep up with her family legacy-six generations of lawyers and judges. She has to work especially hard to keep up her good image after "the incident" happened. There's a dual timeline of her currently dealing with a stalker and then of the past when the incident happened. As you read you slowly get more and more pieces to the story of what happened that night. And near the end some shocking secrets will become revealed! I was so thrilled that I got to read the book early from Netgallery! Put this book on your TBR list if you love a good thriller! Release date is on January 7th!

I've been thinking about how to review this book without spoilers and it's tough.
What I can say is that it's a real page-turner--especially after the first couple of chapters--and a fast, fascinating read. The POV character, high-achieving high school senior Brooke, is an enigma, the driven, sometimes-sympathetic, sometimes-snobby product of a pressure cooker home in which image is everything.
"The Incident" that the book hinges on is recounted little by little in a second timeline, such that we begin to understand the present day--and the characters--in drips. The ending is explosive. I finished the book a bit breathless!
If you like:
* YA stories with compelling twists
* mystery/thrillers
* a narrator you're not sure you can trust
* social dynamics gone bad
* a cast of interesting secondary characters
then Megan Lally's "No Place Left to Hide" is probably for you. Strap in and read on!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my highly enjoyable advance review copy. These opinions are entirely my own.

Megan Lally never misses!!!

This book was another great story! In this book specifically I LOVEEEEE a story happening in one timeframe whether it be all in one night, all withing a couple hours, I think that raises the stakes of a story. She did a great job of creating a set of characters that I could relate to, root for, and also turn against. I thought I knew who the villain of the story was and then as I read I questioned that entirely. She writes a very fast paced story without losing any of the anticipation. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. She paces the story so well and leaves just enough clues to feel like you know where it's heading.

Just like her previous novel she has a great way of combining two stories in one, two settings, two sets of characters and two mysteries.

I'll read anything she writes!

No Place Left to Hide delivers the ultimate young adult thriller that explores the tension between appearance and reality in a seemingly perfect family. At the center of the story is Brooke Goodwin, a high school senior who’s just trying to survive the drama of teenage life while keeping her reputation intact. But when a tragic incident at her family’s boathouse sends everything spiraling, Brooke’s world is turned upside down. As she becomes the target of suspicion and blame, she must navigate a maze of lies, secrets, and accusations. The question remains: Did she really do it, and will she make it out alive?

The novel is marketed perfectly as a YA thriller, with a fast-paced narrative that hooks you from the start. Brooke’s desire to make it to college and escape the small town drama is palpable , but the escalating tension around the boathouse incident keeps the stakes high. I particularly enjoyed the alternating timelines between past and present, which adds layers of suspense and mystery as the truth slowly unravels.

The pacing is spot on, with no slow moments to lose your attention. The drama of high school, the mystery of the tragedy, and the constant threat hanging over Brooke’s head make for an engaging and entertaining read. Lally’s storytelling keeps you guessing, and by the end, you’ll be eagerly turning pages to uncover the truth behind the tragic events.

This book was very fast paced, exactly what I look for in a thriller. I can definitely see this book becoming a movie and I hope one day it does! The ending I did not expect at all, which was another huge plus for me.

This is the second Megan Lally book I've read. She knows how to write a story. It's about the death of a teenager under suspicious circumstances. During a teenage party, Claire drowned. Her ex-friend Brooke is rumored to have had something to do with it. Now Brooke is getting harassing phone calls, her car is being vandalized and news papers are being left all over her car. Someone wants her to tell the truth even if they have to make her tell that truth. I was enthralled from the first page. I definitely recommend.

Thank you so much SOURCEBOOKS Fire and NetGalley for this ARC.

No Place Left To Hide is a heart-pounding, mean girls YA thriller that I really enjoyed.
The characters might not be that loveable for me, but I felt on edge to really see how it ended.
Fast paced and kept me interested through out the story.

A great thriller to look out for in the beginning of 2025.

Loved the premise and the action filled plot! The unlikeable characters gave me pause, but that is rather a me problem

This was okay, it wasn't great. I thought it was predictable but I think it's a great book for YA audience!

I didn’t see the plot twist coming and honestly by the end of this book you will be thinking yikes. I couldn’t put it down and ended up staying up to finish this. I think every single character in this book needs a psycho analysis done.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very fast paced. Attention was great. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and the shock value was amazing. The ending had me like what the F?! I don’t know if I was supposed to hate the characters, but some of them I just couldn’t stand and it took away from the book a little bit, but I don’t know if that was the intention by the author to make us hate them or if that was a me thing. Overall a good read and I would definitely recommend! My only critique is that when the turn of events happen, it left me with some questions and I just wasn’t satisfied with the explanations given if that makes sense.

I rarely give 5 stars but this book is deserving.

We follow Brooke as she’s haunted by a life changing accident while trying to move on with her life and live up to the family name.

Claire, Brooke’s ex best friend is determined to one up her with every opportunity she gets. That is until, she runs out of opportunities to do it.

Between a high speed chase, secrets and “friends,” No Place Left to Hide takes you on a wild ride of just how far a Goodwin will go to protect the family name.

Megan Lally is the absolute QUEEN of, “I didn’t see that twist coming.”

Wow, what an intense book! Definitely love the whole revenge thriller sub genre and this was a good one. I admit that early on I had a pretty good idea of who was behind everything. Even guessing that it was a great read to see how it all played out and I did not predict a major part of the twist, so that one hit me! I enjoyed the writing style, very well done. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Sourcebooks for the advance reader copy. This is my honest review. Publication date Jan 7, 2025. 4.5/5⭐️

I've always wanted to read a thriller that takes place in a car on the open road and this DELIVERED. Brooke Goodwin is a golden child with the perfect life. She starts getting harassed due to her connection with an incident that ended up with one of her classmates dead six months ago.

Snobby mean girls, unlikable characters, cattiness, drama... everything I love about YA thrillers. I wanted to strangle everybody in this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and SourceBooks Fire for the e-arc!
