The back and forth between the past and the present is perfect, it builds up tension and pressure.
It's also so addicting! I read it in one day!!
it was the perfect sit down and read type of book pulling me in and making me HAVE to complete it so keep that in mind when you start reading!!
I have been ranting and raving about one of my favourite books of 2024- That’s not my name by Megan Lally. I have been so keen to read another book by this author, and Netgalley came through with the goods!
No place left to hide was a mean girls thriller, it kept me guessing and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved that this one was such a visual book, it painted such a picture in my mind because of the setting/ masks worn and I loved letting my imagination run wild. It was definitely more of a YA read than I found that’s not my name to be. Lots of high school drama and mean girl antics.
I felt it could’ve had more side characters in this one, just to make the mysteries a bit more of a guessing game.
Overall a really enjoyable read
Wow! Thank you for my copy of this book!! This is my first read from this author and I LOVED it!! Definitely left my review on goodreads, and will now be looking for more from her!!
This is supposed to be ya, but I devoured this book! I felt so sorry for the poor teen, basically being blackmailed. 😭 this was an amazing book, and it's not too far fetched, something like this could absolutely happen. The twist at the end was great! Highly recommend.
This was a great thrilling read! I read this in one sitting and was not going to stop until I got to the end! Of course, the twist had me shaking my head. This is a YA and I am not normally a fan of YA but this one had me captivated. A teen was involved in an incident at a party and was blackmailed for this! The "blackmailer" kept on and on would not give poor Brooke a break. Brooke is trying to keep all of the details of the "incident" quite so that it does not ruin her chances at college and the life her family has set out before her. If the truth was revealed it could destroy her!
I binge-read this book in one sitting and I'm still reeling! The mystery hooked me from the start, and even though I figured it out pretty early, there were so many twists and layers that kept me curious.
But here's the thing - I didn't really like any of the characters? They all seemed super self-centered and fake. And honestly, I think that's exactly what the author was going for.
The ending felt a bit rushed, leaving some loose ends. An epilogue would've been awesome but overall, this book delivered exactly what I craved. I'm still thinking about it, and that's a win in my book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Damn . Who would have thought. But to be fair I was low key sure about someone
I finished this book in one setting SO fast paced SO fun !!! I was both scared and intrigued and scared at the same time like you’re scared nut you wanna know what’s gonna happen at the same time I was on the end my seat scared for my life
The writing was so good the ability of the author to make the reader think the absolute opposite of what a character is actually is is INSANE , even though I wanted more of the ending but the book was so so good , and about the content there was nothing inappropriate at all besides cursing so if you are looking for a thriller with now explicit scenes or inappropriate content this is the perfect book for you
I really enjoyed the first book by this author. But I don’t think I enjoyed this one as much. I liked it and it definitely kept me in suspense but it just didn’t hit like the first book.
I am really impressed with the way this author writes. I loved, loved, loved her first book. This one was different and while the characters were whoa, out there and mostly unlikeable, I enjoyed the story a lot.
Even though I did figure out early on the blackmail scheme. But while that was easy peasy, what I did not expect was the reveal when everything was out in the open. Just glad this wasn't my high school experience. I did feel sorry for Brooke though. She comes from this long line and has her future chosen for her. I can't imagine living in a family like that. Still...she was a really craopy friend.
I truly enjoy Megan Lally and the way she writes.
No Place Left to Hide is fast paced and so twisty. The moment I thought I knew; I was proven wrong. This is a dual timeline which is not my favorite as it can be confusing at times, but the author did a good job differentiating between the timelines. I found myself very intrigued by and invested in both timelines which is rare for me. Quick easy read considered a Young Adult Thriller, but still very enjoyable.
I'm conflicted.. I can't say I loved this book like Megan's first novel, but I don't hate it. Would I pick it up again for another read? No. Would I recommended it? Possibly.
The story involves high school students, high school drama, murder, and stalking. The main character is Brooke - a high school student whose life is changed after an incident occured at one of her parties. We follow Brooke as she gets threatening phone calls, slashing her car tires, and sticking newspaper clippings about the incident to her car. She goes to her first high school party in six months and on the way home, she's followed while the person following her calls her to threaten her.
Overall, some of the characters were unlikable and some of the characters changed drastically in personality from the beginning of the book. While I did enjoy the first half of the book, towards the end it felt rushed. It also seemed out of character for some of the characters to do certain things.
My rating 3.0 stars.
Thank to NG & Sourcebooks Fire for the ARC copy.
"No Place Left to Hide" is a young adult thriller novel by Megan Lally. Brooke is a senior in high school, hoping to get into Yale and to be able to leave the past behind. A year ago she was involved in an accident that killed a classmate, who happened to be a former friend and a rival of Brooke's. Brooke has mostly escaped any repercussions due to her wealthy and well placed family in town, but when she and her best friend end up being chased by a masked madman that keeps calling and texting her to come clean about the incident, there is no place left to hide.
A twisty thriller with lots of drama, this is a recommended purchase where YA thrillers are popular.
This book was soooo good. I loved the twist at the end and it was cool to see the two different perspectives of the tailgating. The ending made me hate the main character in the best way.
I thought this book was an excellent read. I couldn’t put it down and read it in less than 2 days. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but am certainly going to read whatever she writes!
3.5 stars ⭐️
Getting into your dream college is cause for a party! Brooke decides to let loose and have some fun with friends, what’s the worst that could happen? I mean it’s not as if she’s being stalked and harassed by someone, who claims they know what really happened the day of the “incident”. If the truth gets out it could ruin everything Brooke’s worked for but that’s no biggie, right?
Shoutout to NetGalley and to the publishers for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This was a really fun and fast paced read, the dialogue was believable which I feel like can make or break a book especially Y/A. Some of the twists were pretty predictable but I still enjoyed this nonetheless!
Thank you to NetGalley for an eArc of this upcoming release and my newest binge read! I think it would be unfair to compare both of Megan Lally's books to each other, because I enjoyed them both despite all their differences. This book jumps back and forth between two timelines, one in September of Brooke and Jena's senior year, and one in the spring six months later on their college admissions results day. Both timelines kept me equally engaged, and I just wish this book was longer! I was successfully able to guess a part of one of the twists in this book, but there was so much more to unpack that I wasn't expecting. I do feel like the ending was a little rushed, and I would have even loved an epilogue after some time had passed, maybe from another character's POV. Overall this book was a hit and I think Megan Lally is going to become an auto-buy author for me!
For a YA mystery this book was quite good, and I did enjoy it. The book moves along at a decent pace, and I became quite involved in the story from the beginning. The book moves back and forward between different time periods providing background.
If you are female, I am sure we have all been in the situation where we have met mean girls in our lives and understand the detrimental affects this can have on our lives.
There were issues with pacing, but I tried to overlook this and move past it instead focusing on the plot and what was occurring between these characters.
If you after a quick and easy read this book will keep you entertained.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.
This book was so good! I definitely didn’t expect the plot twist! Brooke and her friends throw a party, and something terrible happens! This story is told with split timelines, but is easy to follow. Things aren’t always what they seem! I can’t wait to read more of Megan Lally’s books!! I received a free copy of this book from the author, publisher, and netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This book was so thrilling to read and I was on the edge of my seat right up until the end reveal.
The story was told through two timelines - one describing "the incident", the other dealing with a high-octane chase - which I usually don't like but this book somehow did it justice.
My only problem was that I couldn't stand the characters, which is praise to the author since I'm pretty sure it was intentional, and therefore I wasn't too invested in them.
Thanks to NetGalley and SourceBooks Fire for this Arc.
No Place Left to Hide is a wonderful, semi short, book following a teenage girl after one of her classmates dies. Brooke is a teenager who is waiting to hear if she got into her dream college, all while dealing with mysterious threats about something that happened to her classmate Cassie and her being blamed for the death that was ruled an accident. Issues arise causing Brooke to panic about her future and what this mystery person or people think she did. Secrets will never stay buried for long!
I'm highly impressed with Megan Lally as a young adult author! This was just her second book but I was hooked. I will say that I liked her debut a little bit more, but this one had my jaw dropping. One twist, I kind of guessed but how this book turned out completely shocked me! I will say this is a lot of mean girls, revenge, teen drama so if that bothers you, I don't recommend but if you don't mind it and love a good car chase with some wild unveiling, I totally recommend!
