A unique Regency romance featuring the Ladies Alpine Society, a group of women who love to mountain climb. What a fab idea for a novel, beautifully executed and such fun to read. Enjoy!
This is a dual POV Regency romance that has lots of great female characters and is very fun. The premise is definitely unique and I didn't think I'd be much interested in a mountain-climbing focus but it was a fresh take on women's roles in historical romances.
The FMC grew into herself and gained confidence over the course of this book in a believable way that was gratifying to follow along with. I liked her friendships with the other mountaineer ladies and appreciated her focus on pushing her own capabilities and not making the romance her big life moment. The MMC made me roll my eyes more than once in the first third but I appreciated his own character growth. I don't feel particularly much about him but I was more interested in the other characters anyway.
I was a little puzzled at the swiftness of the ending because the ladies had not yet accomplished their ultimate goal but I realized this is in fact a series! This was a pretty short book for all the exposition, plot, and character and relationship development, so the pace was quite rapid. I would have liked more on the other ladies, but I suppose the next books will follow them. I'll definitely read the next and hope it's just as fun.
Thank you Dragonblade Publishing for the arc!
“~What are men to rocks and mountains?~” - me every 5 minutes reading this
I went into this not expecting to care for the mountaineering aspect, but by the end I was invested in the ladies alpine society! I’d continue the series for that, and the characters were fun too. The character development here was a pleasant surprise as well.
