Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced audio copy of “Worst Case Scenario” by T.J Newman in exchange for a review.

When I saw this available, I jumped at the chance for an early copy! I thoroughly enjoyed Drowning. For others who also did, you MUST get this on release day. It’s gripping with unbelievable characters and a thorough storyline.

T.J Newman had a knack for taking worst case scenario (pun intended) flight stories and turning them into human interest pieces.

You won’t be disappointed!

Thank you NetGalley!!

I really liked this audiobook. The narrator was exactly how I imaged the main character to sound. I also really liked the sound effects in the audiobook. It felt very real like I was a part of the story.

My goodness. This book kind of terrified me. In a good way. TJ Newman drops you immediately into the action with this one and it does not stop until the very end. Thank goodness it's on the shorter end because I need to be a responsible adult and live my life but I just could not until I finished this one to see how it was all resolved. In classic Newman fashion, the story starts on a plane but it soon moves to a small town in the Midwest. There are life-and-death scenarios that grasp you and make your heart race. This time, the results of the action could have global consequences.

I listened to this one on audio and highly recommend that format. The narrator does a stellar job of capturing the stress and tension the characters are under. There are several storylines that overlap but the reader is never lost or confused as the narration jumps from one to the next. If you are looking for a highly entertaining book that really holds your attention and increases not only your heartrate, but also, your emotions, this is a great choice. You will be left satisfied with the ending and wondering yourself....what if?

Wow! Another completely gripping plot from T. J. Newman!

On 26th April 1986 (my 12th birthday), a category 7 nuclear disaster occurred at the Chernobyl plant. The highest category in history. Until now. When a pilot suffers a fatal heart attack and a plane crashes into a nuclear power plant in Minnesota, the consequences are devastating and far reaching.

The characters in this book were so realistically written and developed, I felt like I knew them and that made their struggles, sacrifices and successes grip my heart. Dani, Connor (Batman), Steve, Matt, Joss and the President were particularly brilliant and were absolute heroes.

The narration by Joe Morton is excellent. It was easy to forget there was just one narrator as he brought each character to life so brilliantly. The production of the audiobook is incredible! So much detail, such as the use of sound/voice effects for rescue personnel using loudspeakers, making this feel more like an audio movie and it was completely absorbing!

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, T. J. Newman and Hachette Audio for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This thriller has everything!!! It was so captivating and intense throughout the entire book! There were twists and turns until the very end!

I was worried that this book would be repetitive since the authors previous books are all about plane crashes, but I was very wrong! This book focuses more on the aftermath than the actual plane crash.

The audiobook version of this is INCREDIBLE!! The narrator is fantastic and it's so fun to hear the crackle of the radio as the characters were on their walkie talkies! I very highly recommend the audio version of this book!!

I have been waiting to read the next TJ Newman since reading Falling and Drowning. I absolutely loved the narrator. This book was more fast-paced than the other two, and at times, it was hard to keep up. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. Kept me on toes. Connor pulled at my heartstrings.

An edge-of-your-seat, what-if action story ready for Hollywood! This novel, written by a former flight attendant, starts in an airplane. But, as you can see on the cover, things go from bad to worse and the wreckage of the plane wreaks havoc on a small town... and the nuclear plant where many of its residents work.
It's a gripping thrill ride of a story featuring emergency responders, their families, and other everyday heroes. The level of detail made me feel like I was learning a lot while listening compulsively to the well-narrated thriller.
While I dislike giving "bad actors" ideas on how to attack a country, it's too late now: the book will be published on Aug. 13th 2024. At least we know what we'll need to do to survive a #WorstCaseScenario.
My thanks to the author, publisher, audiobook producer, and #NetGalley for the advance copy of the audiobook for review purposes.

The town is about to be evaporated...so by means..let's discuss the love lives and dating habits of the scientists. Give me a break.
The narration was pretty good though for the audiobook.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

What a ride this book was! I admit in the beginning I was a little confused by the large cast of characters but once I had that settled the book really took off and didn't stop until the end. I can't say enough positive things about Joe Morton's narration of this story. Morton's narration made the book so much more intense than reading the book would have for me. The book alone would have probably been a 4 star read but with the narration keeping me on the edge of my seat I gave this book 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this advanced copy of the phenomenal book!

TJ Newman has done it AGAIN! She has the best way to suck you in and not let go.

I was fortunate enough to listen to this one on audio - excellent narration! I felt like I was immersed in the whole scene. From the opening line to the last I kept holding my breath, thinking "this is it!"

The small town of Waketa is one I would want to live in. Disaster strikes and everyone jumped in asking how they can help, rather than fleeing.

Pick this one up, you will not be disappointed.

First she had us Falling, then we were Drowning, now we are going for the Worst Case Scenario.
After a plane crashes into a small Minnesota town, firefighters in town are faced with their worst case scenario. Was their local nuclear plant affected? If so, it could be cataclysmic not only for their own but for the US or even the whole world. Think Chernobyl, but worse. No matter what happens hard life and death decisions will need to be made not only for everyone in town, especially the firefighters.

Like Newman's previous books I read this via audiobook. At times I found it confusing over who's POV was being expressed. It's still a high octane thriller that keeps you at the edge of your seat. Unlike her other books that focused on people on the plane, this one focuses on those on the ground.  I'm not sure if it's my favorite novel by her, but I appreciate that she's trying something new.  I can say I haven't read a thriller set in this realm before.  I can't wait for her next book, hopefully in 2025.

Thank you to Little Brown and Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an audio copy for review consideration.

Road trip listen with the family and holy cannoli with mini mint chocolate chips this was a top notch listen. We were happy that we were in a truck and not an airplane.

There are quite a few smarty pants characters to keep track of, exactly who I’d want on the line trying to protect the town and its people. I might have shed a tear, or sixteen, for some of them. Yes, some things were implausible, but the action is non stop, like seriously, it never lets up.

If you like intensely gripping, suspensefully thrilling thrillers then you’ll want to put this one on your never ending TBR.

Narration notes:
What a performance! Love the added sound effects from a megaphone, intercom and cb radio, which really gives it that extra pizzazz I enjoy in my audiobooks, especially thrillers.

🎧4.25-4.5⭐️

My first book by this author. I had the audiobook narrated by Joe Morton who is impressive, he infuses tension and feeling which adds to the books appeal.

This isn’t any airplane crash, it’s a catastrophic collision with global implication. This is a disaster thriller
and would make a good movie.

It’s a story of everyday heroes, the author has you caring about the characters, it’s emotional in places. My favourite characters are Steve,Matt and Danni.

There’s technical information to add realism but it’s not overly complicated for the reader. The way that the town pulled together botching together solutions using ingenuity is impressive. While they are getting on with things the rest of the country is in panic mode.
The tension was palpable. I was rooting for the selfless people who behaved heroically. It was very moving. I’m keen to catch up with more by this author and would recommend this book as it’s got bags of interest and characters to root for.

WORST CASE SCENARIO by T. J. Newman

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the ARC of this audiobook.

Narration by Joe Morton was very well done and does not disappoint. He expresses the anxiety and vulnerability of each character dealing with this nightmare that has now become a reality for this town. Special effects are placed throughout and adds to the listening experience. Joe Morton is best known for playing Rowan/Eli Pope, the father of Olivia Pope, on the series Scandal.

T. J. Newman is back with her third novel, Worst Case Scenario. This riveting thriller starts off with a nail-biting plane crash. A pilot suffers a massive heart attack with two hundred and ninety-five people aboard the commercial aircraft, and crashes into a nuclear power plant in the small town of Waketa, Minnesota. Everyone will soon learn, this is a worst-case scenario unlike anything the world has ever seen—-a level 8. This is a harrowing adventure that follows humanity’s fight for survival. Soon Wateka’s firefighters, teachers, and neighbors will become the frontline against this impending disaster.

T. J. Newman’s previous two books are being made into movies and I’m sure this one will be too. Tense, emotional, and heart-stopping at times.

First off, I’m glad that I’m not flying in a plane for a while. The beginning of the book is terrifying… and then it just gets worse! We start out with a plane crash that causes damage to a nuclear power plant. Everyone is scrambling to stop the worst case scenario from happening (hence the title! 😂). It is the stuff of nightmares. TJ Newman pushes the boundaries with each book. She needs to stop with this third one because I don’t think any of us can handle what she’ll write next! 😱
*Thanks to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the audiobook copy
**I’m rounding down because, while I love Joe Morton as an actor, the narration was inconsistent. The cadence was very stilted.

When a pilot suffers a heart attack mid-flight, the plane crashes into a nuclear power plant in Minnesota.

This was my first TJ Newman book and I have to say I really enjoyed it! Here's what I liked:

The multi-layers: This book has so much going on, BUT it was still very easy to follow. You get to be on the ground for all of the action at the plant and the town surrounding it. I liked how Newman put characters throughout this that served as a way to explain things that needed to be explained to the reader without info dumping.

The characters: I liked all of the characters in this as well. Everyone wants to help which was so nice to see. Jos and Ethan were top for me though. I liked their backstory and how passionate they both were.

The narration: Joe Morton was amazing narrating this! His voice is beautiful.

All in all, this was a good action-packed book!

Thank you to the author and publisher for the gifted copy!

Another exciting T.J. Newman read. This is ready for the big screen...action packed with relatable and dynamic characters. The plot is informative and racing, but you will be cheering for the cast of characters the entire time. Impactful with important messages for all humans... a book that highlights the best in people. Thoroughly enjoyed!

What an incredibly intense, nail biting, edge of your seat, emotional thriller! Five stars, for sure!

I became so very invested in all of the characters which is a pretty incredible feat and speaks volumes of the author’s talents considering how little some of the characters appear in the book.

This one literally had my heart beating and my heart breaking at the same time. I do not cry easily and this brought many tears to my eyes which I wasn’t expecting.

This releases August 13th so make sure to secure your copy!

Thank you to NetGalley, T.J. Newman, and Hachette Audio for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook in exchange for a candid review. It was a pleasure!

What happens when a passenger plane crashes into a nuclear power plant in small-town Waketa, Minnesota?

You guessed it!

This pacey disaster book gives new meaning to the word "worse".

WHY NOT 5 STARS?
(Outlier alert!)

* Waaay too many characters.
I prefer books with fewer, well-developed characters
* Too many eye-rolling moments
* One of the many protagonists was a fictitious president.
I enjoy as much realism as possible in thrillers and am not a fan of books showcasing fictitious presidents.

I listened to the audiobook read by Joe Morton, who did an outstanding job with the narration.

I especially enjoyed the introduction of the author/former flight attendant T.J. Newman.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Worst case scenario kept me intrigued from the beginning all the way to the end. I loved the intensity of the book along with the community aspect of the book. The tough decisions that needed to be made throughout the book were at times gut wrenching. Thank you Net Galley and Hachette Audio for the advanced audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
