I've really liked most of this author's work, especially Ghosted, which was the first book in this series.
Max Barone shows up in this one - he is a billionaire and is a cautious about love, having seen his parents give into unsustainable passion. Anna cleans his house and falls in love with him as soon as she meets him.
All of these books have a supernatural theme and in this one, Anna wishes that she was married to Max and that he loves her. That's when I lost the thread of the plot and it distracted me from the enjoyment of this book.
It all works out in the end, but I'm not exactly sure how. The characters were likeable but the hard to follow plot with the multiple wishes just pulled away from the romantic elements of this story, in my opinion.
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Yes yes yes!!! I couldnt put this down. I was cheering so hard for Anna. There were some twists and turns and i really was not sure how this book was going to end. But i loved it!!!
Ich habe mich über das Buch sehr gefreut. Es ist nicht nur fließend zum lesen sondern auch sehr spannend.
I would like to state that I read this in one sitting and COULD NOT stop myself from squealing in delight! Max was an enigma for me in the last book but in this one? I'd like to wrap him up and take two! Anna was a great FMC and it was great to see these characters open up and explore the what ifs of life. I loved the premise of this book and enjoyed seeing how the plot would unfold. The alternate universe was something out of a dream that my romantic heart SWOONED for!
What happens when you make a wish and it comes true? Anna will soon find out. Her wish that the man she loves will love her back is where we pick up. Will he love her back? Will he end up hating her for making the wish in the first place? Only one way to find out.
When I first picked up this book I didn’t really know what to expect, or how hooked I would get. I will admit, it took me a minute to get into it, but once I got about fifty pages in it was hard to put down! The author’s descriptions were beautifully put, she was truly able to world build in such an eloquent way. I am happy I read it. It made my heart happy, but also very sad throughout the book.
I read this in one sitting. It is such an easy and enjoyable read, it’s very light hearted. The pacing worked well for me, it kept me attentive throughout the whole story. The romance was sweet and endearing (and yes there is spice). The story was what it promised, fun, cute and not overly deep. The concept was interesting and loved seeing the way magical realism was delved into in this world. It was a lovely escape from reality for a while and to explore this fluffy romance. This is the fourth book in the series but the only one that I’ve actually read and it definitely works well as a standalone. I loved Sarah Ready’s writing and would definitely pick up another one of her books!
In true Sarah Ready form, she mixes magic and love and makes them seem inseparable. I loved how she accounted for choice in the context of the wish. Choice was actually a big theme for the main character too and making choices for herself and not just to benefit others. Very relatable character. The only thing I’m probably counting against this book is all the Paris-specific stuff because I’m not a Paris girlie, so I recognize that’s on me and not the author.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC! So glad to have found this series.
Review Coming Soon. Can’t wait to read :)
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
Thank you both NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing for this arc of Wished!
4 Stars!
This book is the first book by Sarah Read and let me tell you it sure won't be the last! She has a way of writing a book that will draw you in and keep you wanting more and thats exactly how I felt while reading Wished. Having never read a book by this author I really wasn't sure what to expect about her writing so I was a bit nervous to begin something I wasn't sure I'd enjoy.
But.. this book certainly didn't disappoint it was so well written, and including a storyline that I found very appealing and fun! As soon as I picked it up I couldn't put it down because I just had to know how it was going to play out. After reading the description of this particular book I was ready to read all about Anna and Max to see where their story was going to go. I've never read one with an alternate reality but I'm glad I found this one so I could experience a book I never thought I'd care for!
Anna is a woman who fell instantly in love with Max while she has been cleaning his house, which is a very interesting storyline to got with. While reading I felt many different emotions and that's something that makes a book when I am able to feel such great things!
Once I finished this book I decided that I am now going to run and read the rest of the series and thats exactly what I am going to do!
"Wished" by Sarah Ready is a charming tale that blends fantasy and romance in an appealing way. The premise of a wish come true gone awry is undeniably captivating, and the book's Geneva setting is a delightful backdrop. Anna, the hopeful protagonist, is likable, and her unwavering optimism is infectious.
The story's early chapters promise a delightful blend of humor, magic, and romance. Ready's writing style is smooth, and her descriptions of Geneva are vivid. However, as the novel progresses, the magic that initially sparked interest begins to fade. While the concept of a forced marriage is intriguing, the execution felt somewhat predictable at times.
Max's character arc is a double-edged sword. His transformation from distant to devoted is satisfying, but the pacing of this development could have been more gradual. Additionally, the novel's middle section sagged in terms of pacing, leaving me longing for more significant plot developments.
Ultimately, "Wished" is a pleasant read with a heartwarming conclusion. It's perfect for those seeking a light, escapist story. While the book has its moments of brilliance, it falls short of reaching its full potential.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for a digital review copy.
The premise really intrigued me from the start, I mean, wishing something to be real and that something actually coming true? Yes, please.
The execution fell a bit flat for me. Maybe it was the narration, maybe the pacing of the writing, but I couldn't immerse myself in the story. It's like I was outside looking in, which ultimately didn't let me fully enjoy the book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
3.75 out of 5 stars!
I had no idea what to expect from this book when I first started reading this, but it sure turned out being a very pleasant read. The plot, the short chapters, the characters were all too enjoyable.
However, this was much steamier that I had anticipated.
My only complaint about this book is that this book had some tiny plot holes, but overall it was so very adorable and enjoyable to read.
Can't wait to pick up the previous books very soon.

I wanted to read book 1 of this series from the minute it was released, but sadly I never found the opportunity to. Then I got the chance to read an arc for the Ghosted series' newest soon to be release and I was over the moon.
I loved the FMC, and Ready's written descriptions of sights, smells, and tastes were extraordinary! I felt fully immersed in the story. The glimpses into Anna's areas of interest were also fantastic! Getting to see her knowledge explored on the page was fascinating and added depth to her character. On the other hand, unfortunately I was not able to connect with Max, and I had trouble keeping up with which wish was which around 70% of the way through, but overall this was a fun read!
This book follows the story of Anna and Max. Max own a jewellery company and Anna cleans his house, and has been in love with him since she saw him. One day, she makes a wish to a magical necklace that they are married and the story delves into an alternative reality!
I have been really loving these alternate reality books and how the characters deal with these other worlds. Anna finds out not everything is as good as it seems and Max is forced to adjust to a reality he didn’t want.
For me, the strongest point of this book are the beautiful descriptions that the author does. It really sucks us inside the book! Really really well done. Sometimes I feel like authors gloss over the descriptions and we get too much dialogue, but for me it’s also important that we get a good descriptive moment.
Max and Anna are intriguing characters, both wanting love but hiding behind different facades. The romance blooming between them gives the reader all of the feels!
Although the behaviour of Anna regarding her infatuation strikes me as odd and put me off slightly, this book is a solid 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hopeless romantic, Anna, fell instantly in love with Max Barone while cleaning his home. All this to say Anna has barely uttered a word to him when she happens upon an enchanting necklace that is said to grant wishes. Anna makes a wish and the next morning Max and Anna have been madly in love and married for years. Everything is as it should be, right?
Holy Moly, after reading Fated (another absolute banger) I was beyond excited to read Max’s story and I was not disappointed to say the least. This series has been fun, unique, and truly romantic. Max and Anna were so fun to read about and I loved the side characters.
This feels like a classic romcom, I read it in one sitting!
Such and easy and fun read. Was very refreshing to read something different in a romance rather than the usual copy and paste I find with most romance books.
Firstly I would like to thank NetGalley for allowing me to read this as an arc, I really liked this book but found it a little bit strange in some parts. I would definitely recommend this book to all those who love romance with a big twist, so for this I rated it a 3.5 ⭐️
This one was my favorite of the series, but it comes very close to Ghosted. This one had more romance. It's a little instalovey but more complex.
I adored Max and Anna's dynamic. Doreen was something else. Definitely my favorite side character. Every time she said something, I was laughing. This was so well written and the magical elements are my favorite. I could not stop turnimg the pages! So glad I didn't have to wait till October to read this one. I will definitely read more of this author in the future.
This is my favorite Sarah Ready book so far. I really enjoyed reading this whimsical love story.
I first met Max‘s character in the book Fated and was hoping Sarah Ready would do a story about him. I actually agree that passion is not love. Passion/Lust is not long term. Without love, the feelings eventually fade.
I also loved Anna and her honesty to a fault personality. I love the fact that she wished it and then tried to take it back because she realized the feelings needed to be real. Anna and Max were adorable and I loved their story. I hope to see more of them.
I’d like to thank NetGalley for this advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
First of all, thankyou to netgalley for giving me an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I didn't realise this was a part of a series however it didn't bring down my enjoyment of this book. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series now that I have finished this book
