Florence is single and broke, missing out on her chance at fame with a girl’s band. Her only reason to get up every day is her son, Dylan. When Dylan’s bully goes missing, Florence begins investigating to keep the heat off her son.

I liked this mystery where we get to know the main character, and like her despite her flaws and bad decisions. She had the most interesting backstory. I loved how we clearly saw her prejudices towards the other mothers. This was really just a fun story that you’ll really enjoy if you like stories where amateurs take on an investigation and end up in more trouble than they bargained for.

“I feel terrible about what I did, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat if it means my favorite person on earth is safe here with me.”

All the Other Mothers Hate Me comes out 3/11.

I enjoyed this one more than I expected I would. True, the main character is not especially likeable, and makes really poor choices, but there’s enough about her that’s relatable for the reader to root for her. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The book has a soapy quality and you cab definitely see why it has already been optioned. The eponymous mother, a former popstar who is out of place at her son's posh British school, makes so many cringe worthy choices that the book is at times difficult to read but you can't help but root for her as she tries to clear her young son's name when the class bully disappears...an interesting read, before the TV show!

All the other mothers hate her, and for good reason. Florence is selfish, hung up on her past, and super impulsive. But she loves her son more than anything!

I’m not gonna lie, I almost dnfed this one after the first couple chapters because I could not stand Florence! She was so rude and irritating. However, I read a few good reviews online, and decided to push through.
I’m SO glad I did!!

Once I got over how selfish she was and just accepted it, I loved this story! She even gets more likable as you get to know her. (Kinda).

When her son’s bully. Alfie, goes missing, all signs point to her son being responsible. Florence is determined to prove that it wasn’t him. She enlists the help of one of the other mothers (she’s new and doesn’t hate Florence yet) and they set out to find out what happened to Alfie.

This book was full of shenanigans reminiscent of Finlay Donovan and was super thrilling. If you don’t mind a morally ambiguous and unlikable main character, give this one a try.

It was truly so entertaining and I couldn’t put it down!

First of all this is a great title! “All the Other Mothers Hate Me” is what caused me to click this book for more information.
Our main character, Florence at first seems likeable enough, so why would all the mothers feel this way about her?

Florence, (former party girl) is a single mom, an American, now living in London. Her son Dylan goes to a posh private all male school, St. Angeles, because that's where his dad went and he's paying for it. The other mothers are well to do and nothing like her and she just doesn’t fit the exclusive mom mold. Then there is the incident and now she’s ostracized by the snobby moms. Flo is set apart when she takes Dylan, to school, picks him up or attends other school functions.

Another mother, also an American is named Jenny and has just enrolled her twins in St. Angeles, and she wants to be friends with Florence. After all, they are both American and single moms. Jenny is new and has no idea that Florence is on the outs with the other moms. We soon learn Jenny is also a lawyer which comes in quite handy for Florence,

After a slow start, the story takes off when Florence's 10-year-old son Dylan becomes a suspect in the disappearance of one of his classmates. Of course it’s the bully, Alfie. She decides to investigate the case in an attempt to direct the suspicion elsewhere, aka cover up. Florence is a good mother maybe, but she’s such a terrible person.

Alfie, whereabouts now unknown, is a spoiled, entitled, rich kid who takes pleasure in tormenting Dylan. He looks on Dylan as his inferior.

The big mystery here is what has happened to Alfie…is he missing or dead, and why and was Dylan involved? You see the class was on a routine type field trip where Dylan and Alfie were assigned as partners. At the end of the day’s activities, the announcement is made to board the bus for the return trip to school. Before departing, a teacher calls roll. When Alfie’s name is called, Dylan answers here in his absence, so not until returning to school does the staff realize Alfie is missing,

At home, Dylan shares this bit of information with His mother and later she discovers the backpack Alfie was carrying under Dylan’s bed! Wouldn’t you be suspicious even if he is your son? But would you begin a cover up plan for your child? Thought provoking.

If you enjoy mysteries with unlikeable main characters and all kinds of drama, All the Other Mothers Hate Me is the read for you and is a pretty It's a wild ride!

Florence was a big old mess, but i found myself, also a mom, rooting for her. The twist as the story winds down was is satisfying and surprising.

Might this reader suggest a follow up book on Florence and Jenny?

3.75⭐️ This was a true slow-burn mystery if I’ve ever read one! I really loved this book and it kept me throughly entertained the whole time. My only “negative” was I really just wanted M O R E of everything in this one!! I was so dialed in on the writing and flow of the book that I wished some parts of the book could have been more elaborated on!! I really wanted more pop star Florence flashbacks (because I loved her as a character so much) throughout and I wish the ending had a bit of a slower pace to match the rest of the book!

⭐️ALL THE OTHER MOTHERS HATE ME, out MARCH 11th⭐️

Thank you to Putnam Books for allowing me to read this review copy prior to publication! All thoughts are my own.

The mother at school who doesn't fit in with everyone else. Her son is accused of knowing where his bully is when he goes missing and she must find the truth. Hilarious and fast paced.

The main character was not especially sympathetic but her motherness was relatable. Questions lingered, keeping the narrative compelling.
I feel like the resolution wasn't entirely surprising but it was satisfactory. Interesting discussion topics for book clubs.

I think I like the description better than I liked the book, I enjoyed it, it was very slow in the beginning and Florence. The main character is not very likable.

Not my usual read, but I did enjoy it!

Florence, a single mom to Dylan, has no money, no skills and no friends. She lost out on a career with a girl band and now struggles to get up everyday. Dylan is the one bright thing in her life. When a classmate of Dylan's, who had been bullying him, goes missing during a class trip, Florence must do everything she can to protect her son. With no help from her ex and with all the other moms hating her, Florence finds one other mom to help her investigate. Incredibly funny, suspenseful and thoughtful, this is a great read.

I received an ARC of this book from Penguin Group Putnam via NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback. The premise sounded great, but the actual book was honestly rather silly. Florence does not seem realistic; she is just too ridiculous! I don't really blame the other mothers for hating her as I basically did, also. Her parenting and ethical decisions are questionable and don't really endear her to the reader. Some parts were funny, such as her nail technician and the moms' group chat. And I didn't predict the outcome, which is always a pleasant surprise. But for being such a fluffy beach read, it took me a while to get through, as I just was not that invested or interested to pick it back up.

Right away it’s clear that Florence is a messy main characters, constantly bordering between relatable and unlikeable. The opening scene reminded me of Lorelei Gilmore taking Rory to her first day at Chilton, but from there this definitely became less heartwarming and more twisty. The mystery of this wasn’t exactly shocking, but it was a fun journey to follow along with.

Entertaining yet funny mystery but the plot ebbed and flowed for me. The MC was well written but the pacing of the mystery would pick up and then fall off at certain points.

Feel like going on an entertaining wild goose chase with a lovable goofball? Then I recommend All The Other Mothers Hate Me to take you on just such a chase. To tell you the truth, I was not at all sure where this trip was going to take me so I just leaned back and enjoyed the ride.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC! The main character was unbearable and annoying. Made it hard to continue reading because she was so unlikable lol.

I had a hard time with this book because the protagonist was so deeply unlikable, but I cannot deny that I devoured it quickly and found myself entertained. For that reason, this feels like a book that I likely won’t remember & likely won’t recommend, but I don’t regret reading it.

Usually can get behind an unlikable characters, but this FMC was a bit awkward to read about. Slow start and never really bought into the overall story and the ridiculousness of it all. Interesting premise, but felt like it needed a bit more oomph! Not terribly memorable after the fact.

3.5, rounding up. There was a lot I liked about this, and I found Florence to be well-developed as a character. The friendship between Jenny and Florence was a little up and down, and it didn't feel like that was *just* because Florence was also a rollercoaster. I also didn't love how every so often All The Other Mothers Hate me would appear sort of randomly and it seemed too put on. I also assume Dylan is supposed to be autistic, but I don't love that he was also cast as a criminal, first (spoiler!) wrongly and then rightly??

Weirdly and awkwardly funny mixed with thrills. This book was better than I expected but lost me a few times. I would recommend this for a light easy read.

I started this book knowing there would be an unlikeable main character, but wow- she is extremely unlikeable! The beginning of the book story was slow since I was expecting an exciting mystery at least. The last third of the book picked up, and I rushed to finish. But ultimately, All the Other Mothers Hate Me wasn't a win in my book..
