Florence is the female version of Peter Pan--she's 31 and still hasn't become a grownup. More interested in reliving her 15 minutes of fame as the disgraced member of an all -girl band than being a parent. Her son, Dylan is quite a handful and there have been numerous "issues" at his all-boys private school. When wealthy bully Alfie Rigsby vanishes on a class field trip with Dylan as his assigned "buddy" fingers start pointing in Dylan's direction. Florence hasn't a clue as to how to protect/defend her boy, but she's certain that Dylan had nothing to do with Alfie's disappearance--until she discovers a critical piece of evidence. Should she go to the police and risk losing her boy forever or should she try to clear his name--even is she's not sure if he really is innocent?
Florence's awkward attempts at parenting, sleuthing and re-igniting her career are both laugh out loud funny and heart-breaking. Author Harman weaves a variety of unique characters into a tale that reads as part mystery and part ode to a mother's love for her child.

I had really high hopes for this one, but it was just okay. The main character is really self centered and it makes it had to relate her. She has personal motives for everything she does as she tries to "help".
A ten year old boy goes missing from a school field trip, and not just any school. The school is private and only for those that can afford the price tag. Florence wasn't too upset to find out that Alfie was the boy that went missing from the field trip, he's been bullying her son Dylan for a while. But Dylan was his partner on the field trip and he soon becomes the main suspect. Florence pairs up with one of the other moms from school to see if they can solve the disappearance of Alfie. Her so called investigation does not go well and soon she ends up in a couple of bad situations.

Thank you Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC of All The Other Mothers Hate Me for an honest review. I have to be honest since that’s the purpose of this review and I just didn’t like it that much.
Florence was a has been from a band and the mother of a 10 year old boy. She wasn’t too good at being a mother either. Her son was being bullied so he became the suspect of a missing boy at school. Florence did decide they weren’t doing enough to find the right person so she tried to help.
This book just didn’t work for me. I see there are others that rated it better than me and some people that agreed with me.

Really enjoyed this one. It kept me guessing and I loved reading about a protagonist doing bad things for (kind of) good reasons.

A former popstar with obsessive dreams of making her comeback is thrust into mom-mode when a boy at her son's school goes missing. Single, immature mom Florence starts investigating when her son's wealthy bully goes missing. With ulterior motives to protect her outcast son from suspicion she teams up with the new mom at school and she discovers there is more to the school and the community that meets the eye, and maybe not ALL the other moms are so bad. If you like the messiness of "Am I Being Unreasonable" and the unlikely amateur detective duos, you will love this twisty new thriller.

🌟 Just finished All the Other Mothers Hate Me by Sarah Harman, and I can’t stop thinking about it! This book is a hilarious yet poignant exploration of motherhood, friendship, and the pressures we face as parents. 💖

From the very first page, I was hooked! Harman’s writing is sharp and relatable, capturing the chaos and beauty of parenting in such an authentic way. The protagonist’s journey through the ups and downs of motherhood had me laughing out loud and nodding in agreement.

What I loved most was how the story tackled the complexities of mom friendships and the insecurities that often come with them. It’s a refreshing take that made me reflect on my own experiences. The characters are wonderfully flawed and real, making it easy to connect with their struggles and triumphs.

If you’re looking for a book that balances humor with heartfelt moments, All the Other Mothers Hate Me is a must-read!

[Snack-Size Review] All The Other Mothers Hate Me, by Sarah Harman

Quick Bite: I don’t know if it’s a comedic thriller or a thrilling comedy, but I’m here for it.

(*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*)

What It’s About: “The missing boy is ten-year-old Alfie Risby, and to be perfectly honest with you, he’s a little $h!t.” And that’s how we meet Florence Grimes - former pop star, currently unemployed single mom, and most unpopular mother at her son Dylan’s fancy private school. But when Alfie goes missing, and Dylan begins behaving strangely, Florence decides that she has to do whatever it takes to protect her son.

A Word From The Nerd: I’m just gonna say it: Florence is unlikeable. She’s selfish, shallow, and makes the exact wrong choice every time. But she’s also kind of lovable, and the story itself is so fun and twisty (even hilarious at times). I can’t recommend this one enough.

The Nerd’s Rating: FIVE HAPPY NEURONS (and a Red Bull - make mine sugar free.)

This year has seen an influx of the 'moms behaving badly' trope, and I've thoroughly enjoyed each one I've read. Despite a MC who may just be a little more unlikable than some others, I had a lot of fun with this book.

Florence, or Flo, used to have the world at her feet. She was part of an all-girls pop group that was on the cusp of fame when she found herself pregnant and speaking her vows to a groom just as bewildered as she. Her marriage implodes soon after when her husband drops a particularly nasty bomb on her. So now it's Flo and her son Dylan against the world.

But then Alfie Risby, her son’s bully and stereotypical rich kid, goes missing during a class trip, and Dylan becomes the prime suspect. Flo is sure of many things; one, that "Alfie Risby is a little shit," and two, she's pretty sure that Dylan is responsible.

Flo was like a more jaded Stephanie Plum, and her inner monologue was absolutely hysterical. You may find her hard to root for, but I admired her tenacity and her devotion to her son. If you need a character to hate, make it her ex, especially when you get to the scene detailing why their marriage imploded. Holy hell.

Overall, this was entertaining, dark, and full of petty drama. Thank you kindly to Penguin/Putnam Books for the early read. At the time this review was written, this title was expected to publish on March 11, 2025.

A domestic thriller with a flawed but relatable mum as the main character and mystery solver. A washed-up girl band singer makes some questionable decisions when her son is entangled in a kidnapping. A tight plot with a satisfying character arc.

I am giving this book a 5 out of 5 stars because I couldn’t put it down, even though I hated the protagonist! I have never not liked a main character as much as I didn’t like this one. She had no redeemable qualities in my eyes, well, maybe one….. that she did love her son and was wiling to do anything for him, but I’ll never understand the way she acted. Like why would she just ask her son about what was going on. It was like she was afraid of him. I mean, come on, who would commit such heinous acts without first asking some questions that deserved some answers before ruining an innocent persons life! And she was just unbelievably cruel to people who were trying to help her. She couldn’t just shut her mouth and play the fame for the sake of her son, she just constantly said exactly what she was thinking, consequences be damned. I mean, who really acts like that? Ever? It just annoyed me that this protagonist was so unbelievably unlikable. I felt sorry for the kid. However, the story line kept moving and was so interesting because I couldn’t wait to find out what stupid thing she did next to try and get her son out of whatever he got himself into. I honestly just wanted her to get busted for being such an asshole to everyone. I just think the author was really brave with this protagonist, but it seemed to work because I really did enjoy it.

At my initial reluctance, I ended up enjoying this entertaining thriller about a messy, chaotic woman trying to do the right thing for her son, trying to figure out her life and friendships. I think students will enjoy this fast paced mystery

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review. This book was a quick read, but a story that I feel like I have read before. The story follows a former American pop star who is now a single parent that lives in England. A boy at her son's school goes missing and her son is a possible person of interest. What follows is a series of events as the main character tries to find the missing student. The story was quite far fetched and I feel like there were some questionable activities that went unnoticed in the end. The characters were not very likable and extremely flawed. I was able to figure out the ending well before it was unraveled to the reader. Overall, the book was enjoyable but i probably won't think about it again.

Flo is a bit of a mess. An American mom ex-pop star living in England and trying to raise her unique child the best she can. While not a terribly likable person, she still is someone it’s hard not to pull for. When a classmate of her son’s goes missing while on a field trip, she decides to take matters into her to her own hands to solve the mystery and protect her son.

The mystery and twists in this book are great. I also liked the mix of comedy, drama, and thriller this book contains. I think fans of the Finley Donovan series will love this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the advanced copy.

Florence was not likable at all. Some of her inner dialogue was funny, otherwise she was kind of insufferable. She was immature, and not a very good friend. She was also very unreliable in a lot of ways which made me question her observations of others. Although Florence wasn’t my favorite, she was flawed and that made her seem real. The one thing she did actually care about was her son Dylan.

The mystery of what actually happened to Alfie did intrigue me. Where I was kind of put off was Florence. She grated my nerves a lot and when all was revealed, I wasn’t really impressed by it. I think if Florence’s schtick was dialed back a bit, I would have enjoyed this more.

All the other mothers hate Florence because she doesn't quite fit in with their posh British crowd. As a broke American failed pop star, at 31 Flo has not much going on for her, except her 10 year old son Dylan-- who also doesn't quite fit in with his classmates. When Alfie Risby, the heir to a frozen food fortune and a bully to Dylan, goes missing on a class trip the whole school family is in chaos. When Flo suspects Dylan may have been involved she decides she must stop at nothing to make sure Dylan does not get in trouble. With the help of another school mom Jenny, Flo is determined to solve the mystery on her own. Antics ensue, and with some fun twists and turns and lots of bad decisions from Flo, All the Other Mothers Hate Me was a fun and fresh take on a school drama / light thriller that I found very enjoyable.

I do not think I'm the intended demographic for this book. The narrator is unlikeable and I struggled to read through her "voice" because I simply didn't like her. The story is good, though, if you don't mind the narrator's personality. Try it for yourself; you may love it!

I had SOOOO much fun with this book! I love a good big little lies ish ‘mommy drama’/school thriller and this scratched that itch for me. Florence is a very unlikable narrator which won’t be for everyone, but I found it very refreshing and fun to follow a morally grey character and her inner bitchy thoughts were very entertaining to read. although it’s not the twistiest thriller ever, the mystery led in a few unexpected directions and I found that aspect paired with Florence’s character made the book very bingeable!

well. I can see why they hate her LOL. This was one weird book. Parts I liked and others not so much. Maybe I am the wrong demographic. I think my daughter would love it

I eagerly anticipated the release of this book since I started seeing it pop up on bookstagram. This book was fine but didn't live up to the hype.

3.5/5

Good read.
The title is very obvious as to why the other moms hate Florence. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to root for her or wanted her to fail. She is chaotic. She does love her son so much but is just complete chaos.
There’s so much that happens in this book. The ending twist was great and definitely made a lot of sense.

Overall, I’m glad I kept with the book and finished it out.
