A character study of the worst kind. I can’t get over the truly heinous behavior shown here that is seen as “relatable.” I am trying very hard not to spoil any plot points here so this review is necessarily vague. Don’t waste your time on this one.

Ten year old Alfie goes missing on a class trip, and his classmate Dylan is the prime suspect. But Dylan’s single Mom Florence is determined to clear her son’s name, and goes on a mission to find Alfie. All The Other Mothers Hate Me aptly describes Florence’s standing among the mothers at the upper crust school Dylan attends, and they may have a point. Once the star of an all-girls band before a fall from grace, Florence has a sharp edge to her, and an equally sharp wit that she’s never at a loss to use. Florence definitely steals the show in this dark humor adventure, with plenty of laughs courtesy of her sarcastic dialogue, and her new friend Jenny is a perfect foil. Don’t let the subject matter fool you, this is an entertaining read in a seriocomic format well worth your time. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars (rounded-up for the writing) All the Other Mothers Hate Me by Sarah Harman is very well written with a good storyline. I think the problem I had with the book is more of a “me-problem” - Florence, the FMC, made me want to drop-kick the book off a cliff. Like-I would not join any club Florence was a member of. It was the story that got me to the finish line, Harmen has a good writing style and I would be happy to give her other books a try. Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin group Putnam for the ARC.

Not my favorite. I like books where the main character feels relatable and I hate this main character as the title implies. I felt it rambled a little to much for me

3 stars out of 5.

Meh, this book was just ok. It started off really good but the more I got to know Flo, the more I did not like her. The plot seemed to take a weird turn towards the middle but in the end everything was summed up nicely. I did like the humor in the book and at some points you really want to route for Flo. Overall, I think the book just wasn't for me.

In All the Other Mothers Hate Me, we met Florence who is a retired pop singer. Her son Dylan has been bullied at school by Alfie. Alfie ends up going missing on a school field trip and Dylan just happened to be his partner, which could make him a suspect. Flo with the help of another mom and now new friend, Jenny, begin to investigate on their own to find Alfie. They discover some crazy family secrets that could be a turning point in the case.

Hate is a strong word, as my mom always says, but I can see why the other mothers hate Florence because I don't like her either.

I don't care that she's a party girl and stuck in her past life as a wannabe pop star who never made it.

I don't like her because she's a mom with responsibilities and hasn't grown up even though her son is 10 years old.

She's not entirely unlikable, but her immaturity and bad choices annoyed me and maybe that's the point.

I liked the writing style and Florence's voice was easy breezy and engaging but the mystery was a subplot to Florence's poor decisions and lousy parental skills.

There are typical tropes; her neighbor is a hottie, her son is mature for his age and doesn't get along with his peers, Florence has no friends or allies.

I liked Jenny but her friendship with Flo felt forced and they had no chemistry as friends.

The mystery is meh and the narrative lacks suspense and urgency despite there is a missing child.

The big reveal of whodunit and why is VERY difficult to suspend disbelief for.

I don't believe it. What are the odds?

And I don't believe in coincidence.

I didn't hate Florence but I didn't like her or the narrative but I will read the author's next book.

Although it took me awhile to get into this book, I did think it was a fun read! 10 year old Alfie Risby goes missing on a school trip and classmate Dylan is the last person to see him alive. Alfie and Dylan have a troubled past and Dylan's mom Florence, a single mom who has fallen from fame and is still living in her party girl ways, decides to investigate Aflie's disappearance in order to keep Dylan from being a suspect.

Florence is extremely dislikable and makes so many questionable decisions but I think thats what kept me turning the pages and wanting to know what happens next.

I thought the ending was a little far fetched, but that's also what made it fun.

3.5 stars!

I really enjoyed this book despite having trouble pinpointing why. Right from the start the narrative voice of Florence pulled me in and despite her "chaos muppet" ways I found her endearing....mostly. there were some questionable decisions that I gave the side eye to but definitely overall enjoyed this one! Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the chance to read this e-ARC!

I truly enjoyed this book. It made me laugh, it made my eyes roll, and it had me wondering the whole time who the culprit was.

When 10-year-old Alfie disappeared from a school field trip, single mom, Florence, decided to investigate herself. She was afraid her son would be blamed as there had been issues in the past between the two boys, so it was her duty to find out the truth. What ensues is chaos and confusion. Florence tends to be an unlikeable person and rarely does anything right. But her antics bring this story alive.

This book is very entertaining. You may not like Florence, but I found her quite captivating. Funny, engaging and a great whodunnit. Thank you, NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the eARC.

"All the Other Mothers Hate Me" was fun right from the start.
A main character you can relate too in some ways, but hate in others, and you can not help but still routing for her!
Quick fun read, with memorable characters.

Alfie Risby goes missing on a class trip and Florence Grimes’ son is the last known person to see him. Everyone is trying to figure out what happened to Alfie, while pointing fingers at Florence’s son, Dylan. But as a single mother, Dylan is the only thing she has to live for and she has to do something to protect her son’s innocence.

As a mother, I am team “do anything for my kids”, but I found myself siding with the other mothers quite often due to Florence’s immaturity and lack of accountability. Truthfully, her personality really sold the story and made it interesting (and infuriating) but made me want to keep reading! Once I reach about 80% through I could not put it down.

It took me a little while to get into this book, but eventually I read it all in one sitting! The main character is SO hard to like, it definitely made it difficult at time. But I enjoyed the fast paced mystery aspect of it. I would read another book by this author again! :)

Well, I can certainly understand why the other mothers hate Florence. She’s not exactly a good person. Or a good mother, for that matter.

I don’t really know what to say about this book. At first I found it fun and engaging, but it quickly went off the rails with outlandish plot twists and a ridiculously cartoonish villain. There came a point where I could no longer suspend my disbelief and just wanted it to end.

Such a hoot! I kept picturing who I wanted to play these characters when they make a movie of it (definitely should be a movie). Florence’s parenting skills leave a lot to be desired but she’s young and learning as she goes along her way. I could relate to the whole friends struggle and how hard it is to trust someone new. Fun story!

I loved the narrative voice of this book--Florence felt like she appeared to the world like an absolute dumpster fire, but her interiority totally saved the day. The balance was a fine line, and I felt like Sarah Harman did an excellent job of revealing to us why and how Florence was who she was. I also enjoyed the zaniness of the investigation, with Florence jumping to conclusions that the reader knows are not going to be good for her--or anyone else! Though I felt there were a few too many gaps and withholding of information for this to be my favorite book, I know many readers who will love it more than I did, and I'm sure I can get it into safe hands.

Ten year old Alfie Risby is missing and Florence Grimes isn’t exactly worried sick about it. After all, Alfie is a bully and has given her son, Dylan, nothing but a hard time. The only problem … Dylan was partnered with him on the field trip and the last one to see him alive. Dylan now has Alfie’s backpack tucked under his bed and isn’t talking. Is there a chance Dylan had something to do with his disappearance. Florence will stop at nothing to save Dylan … and I mean nothing. With no apparent detective skills, she’s willing to rewrite the story. When she pairs up with another new mom, at the elite school the boys attend, she finds herself out of her league, but even that won’t stop her. Soon her inklings sound ridiculous and even her new found friend doesn’t believe her. Will she be able to save Dylan before it’s too late…and just where is Alfie Risby? This was an entertaining read from start to finish and Florence’s antics had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Would love to see her tackle another case in the future!! Thank you to Penguin and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

It's definitely easy to see why all the mother's hate Florence. Florence grew on me throughout the book. She's a single mom who thinks her son murdered his classmate. Florence sets out to clear her son's name, although she always doesn't make the best decisions in doing so. Solid debut book for Harman, It kept me guessing and it was a quick read. I even found myself laughing out loud at poor Florence. 3 solid stars!

Thanks to G.P. Putnam's Sons & NetGalley for the ARC!

My first take away of "All the mothers hate me" is that Florence, the female lead, is a certifiable hot mess. And yes, all of the other mothers do hate her. For one, she is a former American musician in a small British town that likes to party. Plus, she lacks social skills which almost feels intentional. While it is obvious she doesn't exactly mesh with the other moms she loves her son no less than the "posh" moms that clashes with daily. So,even before a child goes missing Florence and her son Dylan are seen as outsiders and slightly suspicious. When Alfie, a pretencious bully of a ten year old does not return from a field trip- one where he and Dylan are paired - Flo does everything in her power to lead investigators away from focusing on Dylan as a potential suspect which mainly involes solving this mystery herself. She stumbles upon another mom,Jenny, who also finds herself with liitle intrest in sucking up to the mom pool at school. Fortunately, Jenny is a lawyer with a LOT more common sense and social graces that help keep Flo from spiraling out of control......for a little while. The two eventually have a falling out, resulting in a return to poor decision making on Flo's part which lead to surprising results.

Flo and her conversations with her buddy Jenny are some of my favorite in the book.It would be fun to see them become a crime fighting duo :)

There are plenty of red herrings and twists throughout the book making it hard to read to put down.

Admittedly, Florence is not a likeable charachter making it hard to sympathize with her. Problems she faces are mostly self inflicted. However, Flo does step up when needed and feircly fights to keep her son unharmed.

The title grabbed my attention and I am happy that I took the chance . 3 1/2 stars thta I'll round up.

Thanks to Netgalley and G.P. Putnam's Sons for the opportunity to read this ARC.
