Um, well, don’t judge me, but I loved this. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I squealed with excitement when I heard Jacob Morgan (aka Zachary Webber’s spicy alter ego) begin to narrate it. Not only is he my favorite narrator of all time, but the duet with Elena Wolfe was just fabulous for this story. This book had major Butcher & Blackbird vibes, and I totally loved it! I laughed out loud so many times and the book actually was very plot driven instead of just being smut. I kinda adored the narrators giggling and trolling us with the content warnings, so make sure to check those out first so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook!

Possibly the first time a stalker romance had me kicking my feet giggling 🤣😍

I can't adequately put into words how much I LOVEEEEEED this book!! But I mean, really, who *doesn't* have a lil' masked man obsession?

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Dreamscape and Navessa Allen for my ALC!! The narrators were PHENOMENAL and added so much to the story.

5 stars to infinity, a total must read!

OMG!!! This book was such a perfect blend of fluffy, dark, funny, and witty. Such great and lovable characters that felt multidimensional and a story that will forever be stuck in my head as probably the best dark rom-com thriller of this year.

Having previously read Lights Out and loved it, I jumped at the opportunity to hear Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan bring Aly and Josh to life, and I was not disappointed at all. If anything I think their narration bumped the story from a solid 4 to 5 stars for me!

Lights Out was a fun, darkish book about two people with the same kink. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. The banter between Aly and Josh was fun and aside from the darker aspect of the book, it had some sweet romance to it too. I think if the MCs hadn't been as sweet or funny the book would have been a tad too dark for me. The audiobook was done in true dual narration style, with the male narrator speaking all the male parts and the female narrator speaking all the female parts. I would HIGHLY recommend the audiobook version. Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan are two of my favorite narrators, doing a great job and making the book that much more enjoyable.

There are several trigger warnings for this book, but the actual 'dark' part for me wasn't in the smut/kink factor but in a the 'horror' aspect of the book. Unfortunately without that 'dark' part of the story, there wasn't much of a plot, just smut.

This was my first Navessa Allen book and I enjoyed her writing style. It was easy to read and the 🌷 🍆 💦 scenes were entertaining and 🌶️ 🥵 . I would be interested in reading other books by her.

Overall, this was a pretty decent book, not one I'll be recommending to my mom, but if you like your smut on the darker side and can handle the other trigger warnings, this is a well-written and fun book.

Lights Out was such an amusing dark romantic comedy. I honestly just had such a fun time with this book. I was able to listen to the audiobook and the duet style narration was incredible and made this book a hundred times more entertaining.

It’s dual POVs of the main characters, Ally and Josh, and there are some great tropes like, a dark romance, he falls first, hidden identity of sorts, and an obsessive hero. I would recommend checking the content and trigger warnings before reading just in case.

The overall premise was quite lighthearted to be honest. While, there were some very intense and dark moments the story was still very much upbeat and funny. There were also some charming, heartfelt, and steamy moments.

The first half of the story was definitely my favorite part, the second half though did feel a bit out of left-field with the mafia subplot but I was still thoroughly entertained. There were a few slow-paced and predictable moments as well.

The romance between the main characters was intense, kinky, and dark. I just loved how unhinged and obsessed the hero was with the heroine. His love for her and her cat was actually really sweet and he was honestly just a masked golden retriever. Their banter was probably one of my favorite aspects, there were just moments that made me laugh out loud. The spice was also incredible, the consent and communication about their preferences and kinks was perfect.

There was no third act breakup, which I appreciated. The last few chapters were intense but a bit rushed. I would have liked just a bit more resolution on certain subplots. But the conclusion was perfect.

Overall, just a dark, steamy and amusing read that I would highly recommend listening to the audio version.

I haven’t enjoyed a dark romcom this much since Butcher and Blackbird. This book was hilarious! I know the month has only just started but I’m already predicting this is going to be my favorite book of the month and definitely one of my top reads of the year. I wasn’t even 50% in before I ordered a signed copy. I need this book on my shelf!

This book had it all! An over the top, possessive and obsessed MMC who would do anything for the FMC. A baddie FMC who wasn’t afraid to but jerks in their place and yet be vulnerable with the MMC.

Seriously Aly and Josh were a match made in unhinged heaven. I loved how he was so over the top and she was like I know I’m making dumb decisions but let me just get my raging hormones under control and maybe I’ll start making smarter choices. Spoiler. She doesn’t. But it all works out because he literally worships her and there isn’t a single thing he wouldn’t do for her.

Josh was sarcastic and so funny! I seriously couldn’t stop laughing. I love how he just decided that Aly’s cat was now their child and started calling them Fred’s mommy and daddy. Don’t get me started on him using the tracker to write out LOL.

This book absolutely lived up to the hype and I can’t wait to see what’s next from
Navessa.

I am a huge fan of Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan. They did an amazing job narrating this book. This will definitely be a book I listen to again!

A trauma nurse falls for a mask-wearing hacker who posts thirst traps for women who want to be scared and dominated in this dark romance-revenge story.
These are two characters who know what they want sexually, but who have been afraid to ask for it and afraid of what it means about them.
There are a lot of entertaining, explicit scenes of sexual gratification throughout. What I found most interesting is how the author wrote about the risks and rewards of going after one’s darker desires in this age of consent. The audiobook narration alternates between his and her POV, adding to their growing uncertainty of how far is too far. The voice actors are excellent.
In addition to the unmasking of the “faceless man,” the two main characters have a few more truths to share and a wrong to right. This is abetted by Fred, her cat, who plays an outsized role in their relationship.
In the audiobook, the description of possible trigger warnings runs nearly 1.5 minutes before the story starts, a long time even at 1.5x speed! Is it necessary? Possibly for some people, but I’m not such a delicate flower.
The novel covers a lot of ground. Some things seemed complex while others seemed too easy. But it was entertaining, with the understanding that one can appreciate the writing and story without needing to embrace the same kinks!
My thanks to the author, publisher, audiobook producer, and #NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review the #LightsOut audiobook in advance of its Aug 6, 2024 publication date.

This was such an excellent dark romance. So much more than I expected! It was spicy, dark and thick with plot which is something that a lot of dark romance misses. I love the main characters and how they evolve through the story. I highly recommend this one!

Ooooookkkkkk wait a minute, just one dang minute. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! The two leads are perfection - hilarious, supportive, confident. This plot of this dark rom-com is intriguing with excellent pacing. This one sent me flying to social media to learn more about this author (and cry because I missed a special edition opportunity). I will recommend this all day long. Come for the story, stay for Fred. And the narration? TOP TIER!!

I honestly had such a hard time getting into this book. I saw so many people talking about how good it was but it felt weird. Insta lust can be done in a way where it’s good but this kinda wasn’t one of them for me. This was weird

WOW. What can I say about this besides I absolutely devoured it and loved e v e r y second of it.

If you enjoyed the Mindf*ck series and Butcher and Blackbird, imagine they had a baby and you’d get Lights Out.

The characters are so much fun, the story was written as if I was a fly on the wall. I love all things masked men and this one did not disappoint.

I have not enjoyed an audiobook recently as much as I enjoyed this one. The narrators are two of my absolute favorites.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this audiobook.

I originally read this book chapter by chapter as Navessa released them on her website. I was HOOKED. I am so happy for her that a publisher picked up this book. The narrators were perfect and this audiobook only enhanced the experience.

Well, that was different from what I expected. It had the most extensive list of trigger warnings, so I am still determining what I was expecting. It was a darker and spicier book than the cover lets on. It made Butcher and Blackbird seem like YA. I usually read fantasy or horror, so it was far from what I would read in my comfort zone. Are you supposed to love a stalker? I mean, I actually liked Josh. Awkward. The audiobook narration was superb and brought the story to life. I enjoyed that it was more than just a romance. It had a wild and twisty storyline with actual crime elements.

I received an ARC audiobook for my honest review. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Select, Slowburn.

OH MY GODDDDD

I love this book so much. This book is going on my list of favorite audiobooks of the year AND forever favorite rereads when I need a feel good book.

Yes there’s darker themes. Yes there’s accidental murder. Yes there’s stalking and kink mask shit but it was funny as hell okay?!

Aly and Josh might be my new favorite couple everrrrr. Their banter and humor was top fucking tier! I loved how easy their relationship came to be. That Aly knew exactly what she wanted and went for it.

The car scene when they first “meet”?! Jesus Christ I had to take a breather. 😅

I haven’t laughed like this during a book in so long! It’s seriously such a good book and amazing audio production!

I’m first and foremost a Jacob Morgan fan. 👏🏼👏🏼 this one was no different. I believe this is my first audiobook by Elena Wolfe but I will for sure keep a look out for her in the future as she did FANTASTIC in this one!

Lights Out is a stalker, erotic, dark romance. It was wild. Josh’s father was a famous serial killer and he was afraid that is like him. Allie is a nurse who Josh is obsessed with and she lusted after his masked alter ego online. This book feels like it was trying to be a cross between Butcher and Blackbird and Haunting Adeline. However, it was a little too sweet for being a dark romance. Don’t mistake that this IS a DARK romance, so check trigger warnings. While Josh and Allie have darker desires, they weren’t psychopaths. They don’t do bad things just to do them, but the way they made the cat Freddy their “baby”. The bad people were secondary characters. It was erotic as I thought it would be. There wasn’t a lot of character growth in this. It was entertaining. I listened to the audiobook. Jacob Morgan and Elena Wolfe did a fantastic job with the duet narration! I would recommend the audiobook.

TW: Stalking, death of a parent in the past from a car accident, famous serial killer for a parent, mafia, rapist and murder off page, talk of accidental cannibalism, child abuse memories, PTSD.

For the fans of Butcher and Blackbird, this is SO for you. If you are looking for a dark rom com full of witty banter and some amazing spice, Lights Out is definitely a book to add to your TBR. After coming across a reel about riding a knife I knew I had to check this book out. Allen definitely did not disappoint. SPICE LEVEL - 5/5, FIVE STAR READ.

Five HOLY SHIT Stars

Nooooooo!!!! I'm not ready for it to be over!

These two narrators will always be an instant YES from me. So much so that I wasn't 100% sure on this book before I started it but knew I was diving in anyway. I am SO FREAKING GLAD I did. From start to finish I loved this book. RIP to my tiktok algorithm.

The viral TikTok stalker dark romance, burning with high heat, hilarious banter, and a love story like you’ve never seen before. Can you handle the ride?

Aly is a trauma nurse with a mask kink. She's so busy at work and those videos are her secret indulgence. After one stressful night at work she texts a guy she had been hooking up with a screen shot and an invitation. He declined.

Josh is a computer hacker who's just trying to keep out of the public eye. In his quiet time he has a secret identity on the internet as a masked man. A masked man who has taken a special interest in one of his followers. One of Aly's comments catches his eye, she offhandedly begs him to break into her house wearing a mask, so he does.

I'm not exactly understanding the negative reviews. I get that this isn't as Dark Romance as some other stuff people are reading but that doesn't mean it doesn't fit the category. It just means you've desensitized yourself with even darker romances.

Anyway, HUGE thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this story. All opinions are my own.

Check the trigger warnings.
