I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. I have read other Bill O’Reilly in the past, and in my opinion, this is one of his best works. It was both interesting and informative, and even as a fan of American history, I learned a lot of new information. I appreciate that this book touched on all of the presidents, and presented accurate information even if it is not all positive. The audio book presented the book in an easy to understand manner. The reader’s voice was clear, easy to understand, and full of appropriate intonation. The reader helped to enhance the book and make it even more interesting. I would definitely recommend this book, especially the audio book version. I think this is a must read for everyone to learn more about the American presidents and American history.

“Confronting the Presidents: No Spin Assessments from Washington to Biden” is an exceptional book that really shines. The audiobook is a joy to listen to, packed with fascinating and surprising details about our presidents. The narration is excellent, bringing these historical figures to life and making each chapter engaging.

While the book does have a slight bias toward conservative presidents, this doesn't take away from its overall quality. It's well-researched and offers a thorough and balanced look at each president's life, career, and time in office. It effectively highlights both their successes and their challenges, giving a well-rounded view of their impact on American history.

The audiobook’s smooth and engaging narration makes it a pleasure to listen to. This book is a must-listen for anyone interested in American history and wanting a deeper understanding of the country’s leadership.

A big thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the authors for the chance to enjoy this advanced copy of the audiobook. I highly recommend it!

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard have explored history together over 12 best-selling books in their “Killing” series, including the lives of several American presidents. Now they are taking a look at each president from Washington to Obama. Confronting the Presidents shares some little-known facts about each man’s tenure in our nation’s highest office and makes connections between them you may never have heard before. This is a book relevant to today’s environment as the nation begins to investigate and determine our candidates for the next election. With their signature “no spin” fact telling and a drive to educate the American people on our past, the authors have delivered yet another master course in our history.

I give Confronting the Presidents 5 out of 5 stars. As an avid history reader, especially around the Presidential office, this book was a mix of facts I know well, and some I’d never heard. The authors take time to show the backstory of each president including their personal relationships and conflicts they had during their administration. Reading works by these authors is always enlightening and often feels like the listening to two history buffs excitedly share information the just learned in their research. This is especially true of the finale to the book – essays by each author on our two more recent Presidents: Trump and Biden.

This is a great book for the history lovers and would make a great gift. I could also see this being used by college professors as supporting literature for an American History or Presidential History course. If you are looking for a starting place to learn more about the great (and not so great) men who have led our country, this is a wonderful overview of the past 250 years.

I have long enjoyed O’Reilly and Dugard’s writings in the “Killing” series, so I was excited to see Confronting the Presidents available on Netgalley this month! I chose the audio version of the book which did not disappoint. I am excited to see where this pair go next on their exploration of American history!

Though I'm not an O'Reilly fan, I loved this audio book. A fascinating look at the Presidents, the good, the bad, the ugly! And it's far more neutral than most political media these days.
I listened to this on my walk in the mornings and it made me look forward to my walk each day! Even if you aren't a history or president buff, I fell everyone would find this book interesting!

I've read all of the authors' "Killing" series of books. They were very well-researched and written. The authors brought those periods of history to life, rather then just restating a bunch of dates and facts. This new book was more of the same.

Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard have done a marvelous job giving brief, but fully developed, summaries of each president's career, as well as throwing in some historical perspective. I liked how they made each president a real person than just an historical figure.

They did include their personal opinions on our two most recent presidents, Trump and Biden, since history hasn't had a chance to develop and analyze their legacies. I wish that the authors had given a personal analysis of each president, not just the most recent ones. I respect their opinions and would've loved to have heard their opinions.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Confronting the Presidents
This was a great read/listen! It smoothly went through all of the US Presidents in Order giving key details/facts of their lives/presidency. I thought this book did a great job of showing how enmeshed some of the presidents were with each other! I came into this book with a mostly surface level knowledge of most of the presidents (with some barely any) so this was a fun book for me and at times quite surprising!

I had the audio book version of this and thought that the narrator was great! It was easy to listen and follow along!

Thanks to Macmillan Audio & Net Galley for this ARC!

I very much enjoyed this upcoming book from Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard. The duo already have a long list of well-researched books which thoroughly “kill” a number of subjects. This book “confronts” each president in American history in more bite-sized pieces, finishing up in current day with Biden (it will be welcome if they choose to update in future editions as time passes.)

I’m the sort that will quiz myself on state capitals if I notice my memory lacking. Although I can name the American presidents, I truly only knew the talking points about most, until now. Each chapter tells of a president’s upbringing, marriage, political career, the ups/downs of their presidencies, and their deaths. True to word, each confrontation is fair: you’ll read about their peaks as well as their valleys. I learned quite a bit, and made myself a long list of topics that I’d like to delve into further.

Of note, in the final two chapters Trump and Biden are not necessarily confronted so much as reviewed. The authors opine that we are still too close to these presidencies to truly know what their legacies will be, Instead, each write a short essay. Although I would have enjoyed a deeper exploration of both, I do believe it’s true that you can’t truly know a president’s legacy until some time has passed. I think it was a wise choice.

I listened to the audio version of this book, and found the narrator superb. He has a smooth, even, learned voice that made this highly enjoyable.

I appreciate Macmillan Audio (via NetGalley) allowing me an advanced listen upon my request.
