Can’t believe this is #30 in the series. I always enjoy the audiobooks which are narrated by Grover Gardner. He sounds just the way I imagine Andy Carpenter would sound!!

Andy and his family have just arrived home from a family vacation. They find not only their own dogs but a little terrier that Andy recognizes. He knows that he went home with B.J. Bremer and his mom.

They arrive at B.J.’s home where his mother explains that B.J. was arrested by the police for MURDER!! They have come to know B.J. by his visits to the Tara Foundation and his adoption of Murphy. There is no way that this young man committed the murder that he is accused of.

When Andy talks to B.J. and his appointed attorney he is appalled that the attorney wants B.J. to take a plea offer. He and B.J. talk it over and, of course, Andy agrees to take his case.

What follows is quite an intricate plot that seems to lead to a lot of secrets among the professors at B.J.’s university.

B.J. was heard having an argument in class with his professor. He is the one who found the professor dead in his home – now HE IS ACCUSED OF HIS MURDER!!

Though this has a Christmasy cover, this is a standalone novel that can be read as soon as you can get your hands on it!!!

There is the usual hard work from Andy and his crew along with humor and conversations with Andy and Tara - SHE IS USUALLY HIS SOUNDING BOARD!!

Once again we get an intriguing mystery led by Andy and his A+ cohorts.

I received the audiobook from NetGalley and MacMillan audio. It was my pleasure to listen to and review this novel.

The title is set to publish on October 15, this is a great gift to add to your Christmas ideas!!

It looks like we’re up to book #30 in the Andy Carpenter series. If you are expecting something other than a dog adopter who gets framed for murder, assassins, a quest for world domination, and last-minute mystery solving by Andy, who has cheated death at least once, then either you meet the definition of insanity or this is your first Andy Carpenter book.

All that aside, I did enjoy this book quite a bit. Maybe there was more humor in it than usual, or I was just especially receptive at the moment, but it made me chuckle a number of times, even amongst all of the corruption and injustice.

As usual, my only complaint, other than maybe a new plot line (gasp!), is a bit of a PR makeover for Sebastian. I get that less it generally characterized as lazy, but lazy and unfriendly is a bit too much. As of the last book or two, he doesn’t even go for walks, which is a bad idea since bassets are prone to back problems if they don’t get their exercise. He could at least be really friendly, another standard basset trait. Maybe he sleeps on peoples laps and they can’t get up, rather than just sleeping somewhere else and ignoring everybody. It may be too late, because you know what they say about old dogs... Maybe he meets a younger female basset and a midlife crisis has him trying to get fit and woo her. Just a thought.

As always, Tara has a good agent who gets her all the good lines and all the love. Tara, Tara, Tara! Her help with the legal case though is pretty impressive however.

I won’t even bother explaining the plot to this one. You can read it on the back cover or wherever you download it. As usual, there are some variations, and I liked those here. If I told you the differences though, that would spoil it.

I have listened to all of these books, and as I’ve said before, Grover Gardner has really grown on me and is synonymous with Andy Carpenter now. He’s like an old friend, even though he annoyed me early on in the series.

Thank you to the author David Rosenfelt, NetGalley, and Macmillan Audio for providing me with a free advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for my unbiased review.

This is a delightful book. Andy Carpenter is a very talented criminal defense attorney and he has a great support team. When he learns that a young man that he knows has been charged with a gruesome murder, Andy interviews him in jail. Convinced that BJ didn't commit the murder, Andy sets out to investigate what is going on. It seems obvious to Andy that BJ was set up, but Andy and his team must come up with enough evidence to get him cleared of the charges.

This is written in a lighthearted manner and I laughed out loud multiple times, even though the charges and circumstances are very serious. The story is told in the first person and I think it was appropriate, especially for the self-deprecating style of the story telling.

I listened to the audio version of the book and I thought the narrator was perfect for this book. His voice and style were exactly what I think Andy Carpenter sounds like.

Another cute one from David Rosenfelt. I don't even mind that I figured out who the killer was. Grover Gardner is a great narrator of these books. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another great Andy Carpenter book! The whole crew is here trying to prove the innocence of a college student accused of murdering one of his professors. Did he do it? Was he set up? Or is there something else at play here?

David Rosenfelt does a great job re-introducing the characters even if you haven't read an Andy Carpenter book before. The characters are so likable and well-developed. We have Andy, his wife Laurie, Marcus, Sam, Corey, and of course, Edna. The story is plotted out well and paced nicely. The book doesn't have one of my pet peeves, a really short ending. Rosenfelt takes the time from the climax of the trial verdict to wrap up any outstanding story lines.

And since I listened to the audiobook I definitely want to praise the awesome work of Grover Gardner. He has been the narrator of this series since the beginning and always does a great job bringing the characters to life. From Andy's snarky comments to Marcus's grunts and few words, Grover Gardner is the best.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Andy Carpenter is a semi-retired defense attorney who would rather spend his days walking his dogs and watching sports on TV than defending clients, but somehow, cases always seem to find him and pull him back into the courtroom. He's a delightful character to read, mostly because of his dry, sometimes sarcastic sense of humor and his sense of justice and right and wrong that he can never keep hidden for long.

In this installment, Andy must defend a 19-year-old college student who was found at the scene of a murder, but who claims not to have done it. As usual, the case progresses quickly and in directions that I totally didn't see coming. The whole team of characters from previous books is in this one too, and I loved getting to catch up with all of them. I did manage to guess the identity of the killer in this one which is unusual, but it didn't detract at all from my enjoyment of the book. Overall, if you enjoy a good mystery with a huge dose of humor thrown in, the Andy Carpenter series as a whole and this book specifically are well worth your time.
