Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Christmas Inn by Pamela M. Kelley.

This is the second book I have read by this author. I was hoping that maybe her writing would be a tad bit different. The author likes to go above and beyond when she describes things in her book, to the point it feels like too many details. At times you would think this was a cookbook. Definitely has a Hallmark movie vibe. Girl loses job, goes to her mother's house to help for a few weeks, and girl sees old boyfriend. Girl questions if her current boyfriend works to much or is who she really wants to be with. Mom meets a handsome divorced wood worker, and they hit it off.

My first Pamela M. Kelley book, The Christmas Inn, was such a heartwarming story. A departure from my general book/genre choices, this was an easy, evenly paced, well written, Hallmark movie type read that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters were likable, the scenery beautifully described, and the love stories among generations were sweet. The narration was flawless which I always appreciate! While quite predictable, I didn't find myself bored in the least.

Thank you to Pamela M Kelley, NetGalley, and Macmillian Audio for an audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was just a lovely Christmas story. You want to curl up in front of the fire and become a guest of the Christmas Inn to be a witness to all of the wonderful things happening inside it's walls and to experience the essence of Christmas. This book is heartwarming and the characters are every day normal people who are looking for something to fill in the gaps within their lives. The narrator has a lovely soothing voice that goes along with the essence of the inn. It is exactly the kind of book you are looking for in a holiday read!

In this book you get multiple points of view and follow basically three different love stories, one of which is a love triangle of sorts. But I enjoyed seeing each relationship take shape. One of the people staying at the Inn has an interesting storyline with letters from her sister who has died and each of the things her sister wants her to experience. I would have liked to have spent even more time on that element. Truthfully I enjoyed all the stories well enough but I had one big complaint about the book. All the wine and cheese, and what people wore and ate. Tell me that people attended the wine and cheese hour but I don't really care what kind of wine they drank and how much they loved it. (Pretty much they loved every wine they sampled). And I don't need the play by play on the cheese flavors or what everyone wore and so forth. It was too much frivolous information that I didn't care about. It didn't add to the plot for me to know which wine they drank so it was just empty words in the book. I don't supposed this is literally true but I FELT like if all this info had been edited out, it would have cut the book length by a third. And I wouldn't have missed it at all. Personally I don't eat cheese or drink alcohol so maybe if I did I would have been more interested in that info.
I liked the characters and the multiple love stories and the setting sounded lovely. I liked the found-family feel of the inn.
The narration on this audiobook is very well done. No complaints there.

I wanted to like this audiobook but I found myself irritated by the narrator's voice and could not continue with it. I will seek out a physical book in the hopes that reading it in my own voice will work better for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A lovely Christmas romance.

Riley is part of a corporate reduction right before Christmas; coincidently her mother broke her leg so Riley goes home to help out with her mother’s Bed & Breakfast. Can’t ask for more in regards to a Christmas romance; a very easy read (although I listened to the advance copy of the audiobook).
I’m not a wine enthusiast, but the author seemed to drop a lot of wine and book suggestions along the way.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio (publisher) for approving my request to listen to The Christmas Inn in exchange for an honest review. Except for some minor suggestions to the publisher, narrator Stephanie Nemeth-Parker did a great job. Very pleasant listening.

I was a bit concerned about reading a holiday book before the season had started, but I should not have worried about it. I was easily swept away into the story and the magic of the season.

I had recently read The Bookshop by the Bay, so returning to Chatham felt familiar. It was enjoyable to see some characters from the Bookshop and get to know some new people.

I enjoyed that there was not a lot of drama in this book. It would be the calm escape in the crazy time of the holiday.

Listening to this book really helped me see and feel the snow coming down, the Christmas tree in the Inn and feel of the holidays.

When Riley is laid off her marketing job during the holiday season, she is dismayed. But then she finds out that her mom, Beth, had a minor accident and needs her help at the inn she runs in Riley's hometown. Riley is promptly cheered up with mugs of hot cocoa and excursions around the decorated town.
Beth is frustrated that her accident is keeping her from running her inn with the same vigor as she is used to. But with the arrival of her daughter, the inn is brought back to life and Beth can finally enjoy herself around the holidays.
Franny just lost her sister, but her sister was sure to leave a piece of herself behind in the letters that are gradually doled out to Franny. Will Franny change her mind about the small town her sister called home?

Thank you Pamela M. Kelley and Macmillan Audio for the audiobook ARC. All thoughts and opinions expressed her are mine.

This was such a perfect book to curl up on the couch with a hot cup of tea with! The storyline was so sweet and made all the characters endearing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book the entire time I listened to it.

I am glad that I listened to this book via audiobook because it just makes sense for this book. It gave all the vibes of a hallmark movie and having a narrator read it to me made the experience so cozy and enjoyable. I highly recommend the audiobook!

This book has a true Hallmark feel, a love story that is focused around a community at Christmas time. The story did have a lot of charm and definitely showcased real life struggles in both love and careers.

I would recommend this novel or audiobook to anyone who loves Christmas and settings based around quiet little towns. There are many secondary characters that become inter-winded, making this story more enjoyable and robust.

The author sometimes was very descriptive about food and wine which I appreciated but there were points in the story that seemed flat or “stuck”. For example, the middle portion of the book when Riley was back home helping at the Inn. I was hoping we would see more specific details the development of Riley and Aiden’s story.

Although I liked the main character, I did find some of her reactions to big life events did not match typical responses. For example, early on in the story when Riley looses her job but doesn’t seemed really bothered to much by the situation. I felt like the audio actress might have been smiling and that translated into a more upbeat feel when recorded?

I also found it hard to distinguish between Riley and her mother Beth while listening. All of characters had distinguishable voices but their voice and tone were too similar.

This might just be the coziest book I've ever read! The setting is a Cape Cod Bed and Breakfast during Christmas, and a vibrant cast of characters makes this one of the most wholesome holiday books possible.

After losing her job in New York City, Reily moves back home for a few weeks to help her mother run their B&B for the Christmas rush after her mother breaks her leg. The place has been in a steady decline for the past several years, but with Reily's help as a content marketer, they work to make this holiday season special. Among those staying at the inn this year is Reily's widowed high-school sweetheart and his son Luke, and Franny, an older woman who recently lost her sister, who is following a chain of nostalgic letters left to her.

What a beautiful little story we have here! I've never read anything by Pamela Kelley before, and I have to say, I'm adding her whole backlist to my TBR! This is the kind of story you can sink into - it transports you into another world and wraps you up in layers of feel-good story. There is romance, yes (we'll get to that in a second), but what really makes this book shine is the overwhelming feeling of community - you could even call it Christmas spirit, I suppose. Beth and her little family are so kind-hearted and everyone is so open and willing to be present in any room they're in. It just warms the soul on a level I don't remember experiencing in another book in quite the same way.

We have two little romance stories going on here. My favorite was mama Beth! She's been divorced a long time and has felt very discouraged in the dating scene 'these days' and has all but completely thrown in the towel, but when the hired help (Shawn) shows up to fix the damage in a few of the rooms at the inn, he's handsome and kind and capable (and also divorced) - and brings his mama to the holiday festival!

Reily has been dating a big-shot lawyer named Jack in The City. He works long hours because he enjoys his job and has lots of ambition to one day make partner. They have both understood that it will be several more years, at least, of the same pace, before he will have more time to spend on anything else, including her. When she tells someone they've been together two years and they respond with an understandable 'it must be serious', Reily is surprised, which is...very telling. Spending more time in her hometown, and around the folks around the inn makes her realize how lonely her life in the city has become, and wonder if that kind of life is still the right choice for her. It begins to factor into her job search, as well. What does she really want her life to look like?

Overall, this felt like an immersive Hallmark movie of the best variety. I can see myself craving to read The Christmas Inn again in the future. I absolutely recommend it for anyone wanting to lean into the cozy vibes that come with the fall and winter seasons. There are also plenty of book recommendations in the book (how cool!). So glad I was chosen as an arc listener for the audio version of this title. Thank you to netgalley and the Macmillan Audio for providing the arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a cozy, feel good book! It revolves around the holidays, family, and old flames. The narrator was excellent and I was instantly pulled into the story and lives of all the characters. I was rooting for love to win with the reunited couples. There’s just something so special about watching everything unfold. Highly recommend if you like holiday reads and romance!

A warm and comfortable read. Good main characters. I like that former characters from earlier Chatham books are mentioned so, if you follow the series, you get a quick update on them. Definitely a stand-alone book if it’s your first. ,

Thank you NetGalley for the complimentary eaudiobook, The Christmas Inn by Pamela Kelley.

This was a great novel about second chances, at the most wonderful time of year.

Right before the most wonderful time of year, Riley loses her job. Coincidentally, not long after that dreaded news her sister reaches out to let her know that their mom broke her leg and was on crutches. Riley uses her job loss to her advantage to offer to head home and help out at the inn. Her mother doesn’t like it when she feels as though she’s inconveniencing them.

Riley reunites with a last friend and his son, Luke. While she has a boyfriend back in the city, she invited him to the cape to meet her family. Her boyfriend, Jack entertains the idea and finally arrives for a quick visit. Jack is very busy, since he’s trying to obtain partner at the law firm.

During this season, Riley realizes what’s important in life and that encompasses family, and her time. I loved the story and the season, but I wished for a little more adventure in this one. Regardless, it is still a five star novel! The characters were all lovable and easy to follow. Sometimes family is where your heart’s at which was a wonderful realization in this one.

I loved this title! I listened to in almost one sitting, with only 45 mins left for the next day. Pamela Kelley is a master at telling cozy stories with multiple story lines across her cast of characters, which are impossible not to love. Every time I end a PMK book, I feel like I know the characters and town on a personal level, and if I visited, they would welcome me with open arms, as one of the family. This title was no different. I enjoyed the non-nantucket location and hearing about places I've known since childhood all throughout the book. This is a great book to read by the fireplace as you keep warm on a cold winter's evening!
