Although this newest book on writing memoirs contains a lot of excellent writing information, it is a bit overwritten, and I found myself skimming a lot. Nevertheless, it's worth reading because of the excellent examples he presents and because of his close relationship with the great John Cheever. This book will be enormously helpful if you want to write a memoir.
I enjoyed this book and will definitely "dip" back in as I am in the process of writing my own memoir. Lots of tips and ideas and easy to access information.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair review.
While I don’t know that I will ever write a book, it was very interesting to learn about the process from start to finish. Where One Hears the Rain will guide the way.
In this non-fiction/memoir writing guide Epting draws on his own experience as an author, Chever’s teachings.
This title covers a wide range of topics about memoir writing and the structure is sensible.
I found it highly valuable for writing in general.
Those who are starting out as writers might find even higher value in this book.
As one who has been struggling to write my own memoir, I found this memoir-writing guide to be incredibly helpful. The design makes for easy reading, and the tips--many gleaned from John Cheever, the author's teacher--encourage readers who are starting or stuck like me in memoir writing. Highly recommended!
