So cute!! The perfect read for when you need a pick-me-up. Ideal for both shoujo fans and dog lovers! It was so funny seeing the differences between the dogs, and also between the owners. One of my favourite things is how their friendship is set up, and the pace in which it develops. It is realistic and wholesome.
If you're looking for a pure and fluffy adult comedy, this is the manga for you!
This series will definitely become my comfort read <3
This is such an adorable manga! It's been awhile since a manga made me this giddy. Our main characters and their lovely pets are all so adorable. The bond between the main characters and their dogs is endearing, mirroring the love their pets feel for them.
The first volume introduces us to Chiharu, a teacher, and her pet Rottweiler, Tsubu-chan. We also meet Kiyotaka, a firefighter, and his Pomeranian, Monjuro. They coincidentally cross paths in their neighborhood during walks with their pets. Their first meet is an amusing encounter, and we readers could already gather how opposite they are in thoughts and actions. The same goes for their pets, who are extremely opposite to how they look. They are all incredibly adorable. I love them. There are supporting characters in this manga that are equally entertaining.
I really appreciate how Chiharu and Kiyotaka support each other in overcoming their problems and insecurities. In this volume, we can already see the beginnings of their awareness of each other, which will eventually lead to affection. It's so enjoyable to read! Not only that, their pets are the best. Honestly, there are no bad pets; they all deserve love.
Thank you, Kodansha, for my copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
★★★★ // On a serendipitous day, schoolteacher Chiharu and her Rottweiler, Tsubu-chan, meet firefighter Kiyotaka and his Pomeranian, Monjuro. After several meetings, sparks start to fly between the seemingly-opposite pair as they begin to discover more about each other.
As a dog lover and dog owner myself, I knew I just had to read this wholesome, fluffy story. I loved how right at the start, readers get to see the contrasting personalities of our two leads - them having opposing thoughts written with the same words next to each other on the page was a nice touch.
The only thing that took some time for me to get used to was the structure - every chapter seemed to be an isolated event, not linked by a central plot (more like a slice-of-life perspective). I'm used to reading more linear manga, where every chapter is a direct continuation of the previous, so this writing style threw me off a bit but isn't a large enough issue to stop me from wanting to read more.
I'm curious to see where this story goes and how it will progress!
This manga is adorable!! I love anything dog related so this was automatically a win for me. The character are sweet, the art is good and did I mention the dogs???? So much fun.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read and review this manga. This was a cute story that if I want a slice of life dog story, I will probably pick up some more, however it is not a new favorite. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Pupposites Attract is a wholesome low-stakes romance between two dog owners that cross paths on walks. I loved the dynamic of a small, strong-willed woman with a huge dog and a shy tall man with a tiny puppy. There’s an added layer of the dog’s personality matching the other owner that was just too adorable.
The romance was perfectly paced, watching the main characters move from strangers to friends to maybe something more had me kicking my little feet with joy. Even as someone who has no desire to ever own a dog, especially a big one, I couldn’t help but fall for the sweet-natured Rottweiler Tsubu-chan. An easy recommendation for dog lovers and those seeking a fluffy and warm romance.
A good manga for cute dogs and cute scenarios. I really enjoyed reading this manga as it was a fresh concept that others will definitively like as well.
An adorable series of meet cutes blended into a sweet story of two adults finding connection through their shared love of their dogs. This story is cute, gently paced, and leaves the reader both wanting more and also fulfilled with each new chapter. A masterpiece of the slice of life genre.
A simple, easy, wholesome kind of love story where two strangers are brought together because of their dogs. I really like the trope of "big man with small dog" and "tiny girl with enormous, scary dog." There's some humor and some light drama, but nothing angsty or extreme. A cozy read overall!
This was so cuteee! And such a good read! Everything attracted me to this manga, right from the cover, the art style, the description everything hehe and it did not disappoint.
I mean what's not to like in this? Strong man with a tiny cute puppy x Woman who can't control her strength with a huge dog. They have such a cute dynamic! And I love the dogs povs too. Also the fact that their professions are also something unique hehe. Love that.
I also like the ML's brother xD
Ofcourse the dogs themselves are also so cutee I love the big one hehe he's such a cutie. The smaller one is so energetic lol still looks so cute. And they both ship their owners too lol
Good quick read, just wasn't my favourite as it wasn't a manga that I would really remember after I'd finished.
This was a cute and sweet story!
I loved it! A manga focused on dog owners and their pups? It is simply adorable and funny. The characters are lovable and it seems to be a slow burn, which is what I like!
What a cute little story! Two very different people are brought together by their two very different doggos. The couple is adorable and the pups are too! I can see myself enjoying this series. I will say that it is going to likely be a "slow burn romance" as they are both very shy and it feels like the story is barely started. But their interactions together and the dogs together is worth the wait, I think.
I enjoyed reading through it! So heartwarming and the connection of the dogs and their owners are just so cute together. A very fun and cozy read!
A very sweet opposites-attract romance between two dog-owners who meet while out walking their pets. Fun artwork, lots of animals and lots of great contrast between humans and their pets.
A sweet story about two dog owners and their contrasting pets, I really enjoyed this volume and series so far. I don't often see series about dogs and dog owners, so this was refreshing and I can't wait to read more!
🐾💖🐾 Pupposites Attract 🐾💖🐾
This was pawsitively adorable! I was binging some manga series this weekend and can’t stop thinking about Pupposites Attract Vol. 1! The artwork is so cute & I loved how we got dialog from both the humans and doggos! I laughed, I swooned & above all else I can’t wait to see what will happen next in Vol. 2!
Thank you Kodansha Comics for sending me a copy!
The artwork by Hono Natsuna is very good.
Definitely between 4 and 5 stars. I wish that I had known that there were some translation notes beginning page 143 (towards the end of the book). I do feel that a bit did get lost in with the translation.
As a dog lover and (prior) rottweiler owner, I loved the graphics. Absolutely loved page 118, so beautiful. I wish that this one page were in color.
I wish author Hono Natsuna much success with the series!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for approving my request to review the advance read copy of this translation.
This is a really cute manga about our own limitations and self perception, and how we frame other people within the context of how we view ourselves. This is all hidden in a sweet slice of life style romance manga. Kiyotaka thinks he is not confident enough to handle a large dog, he isn't brave enough, despite working as a first responder, but he views small Chiharu as very strong for handling a large Rottweiler. I think the contrast of their personalities, careers, dogs, adds for a layered juxtaposition between the two characters, despite being opposites in many ways, they have adorable chemistry and you root for them to get together.
The best bonus was the adorable scenes and dialogue from the dogs point of views.
Very short and simple story about two people with their pets. Both of them are impressed with each other, as one couldn't handle a big dog and the other thought smaller dogs were hard to take care of. I love the simplicity of the story and how I can just breeze through the pages as it is such a lighthearted read.
Overall 3.8 ⭐️ (the dogs is so cuteee)
