Super cute dog lover manga. It was nice to read a dog manga considering how many very fun cat based ones there are.

The art was really fun and engaging. I enjoyed it all overall but i did find some of the chapters to be a smigde short. Definitely interested in collecting this digitally.

'Pupposites' attracted me to read this debut for my love of simple josei manga and pets. The title delivered on cuteness while remaining light. The pace is slow, but I enjoyed the delicate dance between the main characters. They are indeed very opposite in many ways, but the one similarity that connects their budding friendship is their love for their dogs. Any dog or animal lover will find this light read successful and be curious about future volumes. The art is clean, the detail to the dogs is great.

*Pupposites Attract* is a delightful manga that combines heartwarming romance with the irresistible charm of our four-legged friends. Perfect for dog lovers and anyone who enjoys a feel-good story, this manga explores the unexpected connections that can blossom between people and pets.

The story follows Chiharu, whose Rottweiler, Tsubu-chan, is as sweet as he is large, and Kiyotaka, whose Pomeranian, Monjuro, is small but bursting with personality. When these two pairs meet at the park, their differences are immediately apparent—Chiharu’s bold demeanor contrasts sharply with her timid Rottweiler, while Kiyotaka’s quiet nature is a stark contrast to Monjuro’s energetic antics. Despite the initial friction, their shared love for their pets leads to a series of chance encounters that begin to change their perspectives.

The charm of *Pupposites Attract* lies in its exploration of how unlikely friendships can form in the most unexpected places. As Chiharu and Kiyotaka’s paths continue to cross, the manga skillfully depicts the evolution of their relationship, both with each other and their beloved dogs. The interactions between the characters are sweet and genuine, offering a glimpse into how love and companionship can grow when we open ourselves to new experiences and people.

The art style complements the story beautifully, with expressive and endearing illustrations that bring both the humans and their pets to life. The contrast between the characters—both human and canine—adds an extra layer of depth to the narrative, emphasizing how opposites can indeed attract and form meaningful bonds.

Fans of *A Man and His Cat* and *Lovely Muco* will find much to love in *Pupposites Attract*. The manga is a comforting reminder of the joy that comes from both human and animal relationships and the ways in which these connections can enrich our lives. Whether you’re a pet owner or simply a fan of heartwarming romances, this manga offers a charming and uplifting experience that celebrates the magic of unexpected friendships.

Thank you Kodansha Comics for a copy of Pupposites Attract!

"A fluffy, feel-good romance manga for dog lovers! Chiharu enjoys every day with her sweetie of a Rottweiler, who probably weighs as much as she does. Meanwhile, Kiyotaka can't get enough of his fluffy Pomeranian, who barely comes up to his knees. When these two mismatched pairs chance upon each other at the park, they're like oil and water. But, after enough chance meetings, could this turn into an unlikely friendship, or something more?"

I picked this up after watching a horror movie and it gave me all the cute and fluffy feels!!

Pupposites Attract is a comforting read for pet lovers! It's about finding joy in the unexpected, and the importance of bonds with our pets and friends! For fans of A Man and His Cat and maybe even Hamtaro!

"Chiharu's bold personality in a petite frame strikes a contrast in every way to her scaredy-cat Rottweiler Tsubu-chan-and the same could be said for the sturdy but shy Kiyotaka and his outgoing Pomeranian, Monjuro. Yet, for these inseparable pairs, their long walks together are the highlights of the day. One encounter leads to another, and before long, these two unusual duos find their feelings changing..."

This story highlights the most beautiful thing about the companionship between a human and its pet. A relationship that starts out distant, but that time manages to give something solid and inspiring to witness. There is chaos, laughter, and an unexpected encounter that will lead to friendship. The purity of this story is delicate and fresh, causing the reader to become fond of every aspect of it. From the concept that appearances can be deceiving, to the little ones protecting, it is hopeful to learn more stories of this nature.

As for the art of the manga, incredible. It is simple and perfect, sweet and comfortable. A manga worth recommending.

Thanks NetGalley & Kodansha Comics for this ARC!

I recently got into manga because of shows I watch but this was different from those. This was so cute! The connection between people and their pets and how it comes to be. The art is also so cute!

This is a delightful story from start to finish.
Pupposites Attract is an episodic manga following two dog owners, each of them with a dog that is the complete opposite of what would match their appearance. One chance encounter on a walk leads to the protagonists crossing paths more and more often while taking their dogs out, one thing leads to another and something akin to a friendship starts to blossom, both between the owners and the dogs themselves.

The art is very cute and I especially love the different expressions the dogs pull. The writing is very lighthearted and easy to follow but still taking time to flesh out the characters bit by bit. In this first volume you already see some hints of romance flourishing but the characters are both still quite timid about their closeness with one another so I wonder how their relationship will progress.

On a more technical aspect, I really liked the choices for lettering especially the SFX.

Very excited for the next volume.

Pupposites attract is a romance manga with dogs!
Chiharu, while short she has strong willpower. In turn keeping Tsubu-chan, her rottweiler, in check. In contrast to Chiharu theres Kiyotaka. A shy sweet guy with quite the outgoing Pomeranian, Monjuro. Monjuro being quite the explorer finds Tsubu-chan and Chiharu. More encounters these friends have the more they realize feelings are coming in to play.

Really enjoyed this manga, quite excited to read vol. 2. I love the opposites attract trope, it works really well. Especially with the dogs almost being mismatched regarding personality, the dogs seem very real! Reminds me of my own pup. Loved that there were bonus scenes and info on both owners. Even the guide regarding japanese related terms.

Can't say I have any complaints. Overall a really wholesome cozy story so far.

This is a cute, breezy read! It's fun to see our two human leads show parts of themselves through their dogs. The woman having a big sweetheart of a Rottweiler with a cute name, while the man adores his spoiled, manly named Pomeranian. It's a nice change of pace compared to how said breeds get thrown into gender stereotyping . You get a bit of the dogs' POVs as well, which I always like in these sorts of stories. It's a nice time, especially if you love dogs, and seeing them be cute and good dogs. Oh, and maybe the humans are falling in love, too!

A very sweet and short manga perfect for dog lovers. Light hints of romance, more like the first crush flutters. The art is wonderful and there are translation notes in the back. A very easy read, this is book one and I would love to read book two when it comes out!

Thank you to Hono Natsuna and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 rounded up ✨️

(Read courtesy of NetGallery, thank for giving me this opportunity 🙏)

Sigh....I'm afraid I will forever fall victim to the smaller woman & big dog x big man & tiny dog trope. Seriously, I cannot get enough of it.

This was genuinely such a heart warming read, and I feel melted with the images of the dogs and how beautifully the panels are drawn. I'm absolutely in love with the two main characters, as well as all interactions between them. There's something about reading about dogs in graphic novels that will melt me every time. I'll definitely be picking up the next copy 🫶

This is an extremely cute manga. I enjoy both the dogs and people being such opposites, both of each other and what you'd expect. It made for a very fun dynamic, and I loved watching both the people and the doggos interact. The art is also very cute, which is a bonus for what's already a very cute idea. So yeah, if you're looking for a cozy slice of life romance manga with puppers, I definitely recommend!

Pupposites Attract is something I've never read before-- a dog manga (I've read plenty of cat manga). This is a cute romance centered on two dog owners and their very different dogs and approaches to dog ownership. Dog fans will enjoy the look into human-canine relationships and romance fans will like the growing relationship between the human leads. Ideally, the audience will enjoy both aspects. It's also nice to find a josei series in the wild like this, since the josei (adult woman) demographic is often overlooked.

This is a cute, comfort read with lovely dogs and their adorable humans. This first volume is fine to read on its own. If you want the story to continue, then you will have to wait for volume 2.

The art, especially of the dogs, is so cute.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me access to an eARC!

Chiharu and Kiyotaka both have pets that don't match their image. Chiharu's a bold young woman with a shy rottweiler named Tsubu and Kiyotaka is a shy guy with a bold Pomeranian named Monjuro. When they keep meeting during their walks, a friendship blooms.

This is a cute first manga for someone just getting involved in the scene or a good slice of life palate cleanser to read in between dense series. There's not too much of a plot here, but all the characters, including the pets are fun and adorable. Looking forward to more.

This was so cute!! Really sweet, but at the end of the day i felt like it wasn’t really memorable, i might pick up vol2 if it’s on NetGalley but i probably won’t seek it out

This is literally perfect. The "pupposites" in question are actually perfect complements to each other, and the animal content is well-balanced- enough to enhance and share details about the main characters, but not giving the dogs all the personality and fun panels. I can't wait to read the next one and see Chiharu and Kiyotaka's friendship and romance develop.

4.25 Stars!

This adorable slice-of-life manga stars two polar opposites; Chiharu, a determined woman with ample physical strength, and Kiyotaka, a large, sweet man with pushover tendencies. The two begin a casual friendship after their dogs, Chiharu’s gentle Tsubu-chan and Kiyotaka’s energetic Monjuro-chan, meet. The couple quickly become closer as they admire each other's differences in handling daily life.

Hono Natsuna knocked it out of the park with this delightful odd couple perfect for fans of sweet slow burn romances, light comedy hijinks, and anyone who works hard so their dog can have a better life. Of course, I loved every adorable frame of Tsubu-chan and Monjuro-chan! What really drew me in was the story behind how Chiharu bonded with Tsubu-chan and the involvement of her father as an service/rescue dog trainer. I was surprised and charmed by the moments of sincere depth of emotional connection given the levity of the rest of the novel. I'm looking forward to the next book to see the progression of the main relationship and hopefully learn more about how Kiyotaka got Monjuro-chan!

This book is the perfect short, sweet, and funny treat to read while cuddling your pets.
