I love this author’s writing and am using one of his past novels as the winter selection for a grade my grade 3 book club. I loved the sneak peek and wished I had been privy to the entire story. I will have to continue reading with the physical copy.

I requested this thinking it was the full audiobook, but after listening to this sneak peek, I had to go buy the book! Check out my Goodreads for my full review of the book!

Such a good book. I did even know there was a second book until recently. I read the kindle version and I have the physical book for the first book so I’ll have to get the physical book for this one. LOVED it!

The audiobook I did hear of it was AMAZING! I highly suggest not just this book but the whole series as well.

Absolutely fun time and can’t wait to pick up the complete audiobook to enjoy the rest of the story.

I really wish that I paid more attention when I clicked the request button as I didn't realize this was a sneak peek and not the whole story. Loved it for what it was...disappointed it was so short.

Big thanks to NetGalley for access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

While I really enjoyed this is have to say I was bummed to see it was just and excerpt. My mistake for not paying attention. However, from what I did hear, this was great!!! And I can't wait to read the book in its entirety.

I preferred actually reading this novel. The audiobook couldn't keep my attention though the discriptive paragraphs (which I do normally scan anyway), but the dialogue was very well done. The voices changed slightly and had very raw emotional connections.

TJ Klune's Somewhere Beyond the Sea is a heartwarming sequel that returns readers to the enchanting world of Marsyas Island. This time, the story centers on Arthur Parnassus as he confronts his past while striving to protect his magical family from external threats. Klune masterfully balances whimsy and deeper themes, crafting a narrative that is both charming and thought-provoking. If you loved The House in the Cerulean Sea, this continuation is a must-read.

This sneak peek was the absolute best tease! Made me want to jump right into the full book! Love these characters and it's been so great coming back to this world.

I was lucky to be approved for a preview of one of my anticipated reads. I absolutely loveddd the house in the cerulean sea (I have the French special edition). I’m so happy to be able to get back into this world. I love Arthur and Linus they are so cute. They support each other but also get each other out of their comfort zone. The kids in this series live rent free in my heart 🥹. I need the full book NOW. The descriptive writing truly sucks me inside the book. I love that we’re getting more of Arthur’s POV yessssss. The kids are killing me. I need the full book now.

This book picks up right where House in The Cerulean Sea leaves off, with a brief glimpse into life at the Marsyas Island Home for children.
Linus and Arthur find themselves at the middle of a DICOMY plot to break up their family, at all costs. As with the first book, an inspector comes out to "observe" their home but has already decided to break up the family
At the core of this story is how each child has grown and is using their voice to protect their life.

This was funny, heartwarming, and heartbreaking. After finishing it yesterday I am not quite ready to move on from these characters.

It is hard to live up to the Cerulean Sea. This one, while it does offer more insight into the characters, the overall story fell flat for me.

This snippets makes me want to know so much more. I cannot wait to read the full story. The first book in the series is so good and this one just seems like it will be just as good! Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this little sample of the story.

It’s difficult to rate a small portion of a book. I also know there’s controversy surrounding Klune and this series in particular. That’s why I won’t be buying this to finish and will utilize my library instead. The narrator is pretty good, if not very over the top.

This sneak peek was amazing and made me even more excited about the book. Which I have since listened to and read the whole book and loved it just as much as I thought I would based on this sneak peek!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Amazing, Beautiful, Awesome, Well-told. Loved the voices, wish this was real life, liberating, just some of the words that make me think of this book. Thank you to the author for bringing these amazing characters and their stories into our lives.

I’ve been head-over-heels in love with The House in the Cerulean Sea since I first read the digital ARC. It’s basically the coziest fantasy book ever and one I wish everyone could experience. So, naturally, I was over the moon when I got my hands on a digital ARC of Somewhere Beyond the Sea! Then, when Libro.fm featured it in their librarian ALCs, I knew it was time to dive back into the magical world of Arthur, Linus, and their incredible family.

TJ Klune is not shy about his inspiration for the villain in this sequelbeing J.K. Rowling. The fact that this antagonist clearly channels some Dolores Umbridge vibes is a pretty stark commentary on the TERF's platform, which adds a layer of depth to the story. This book is definitely darker than the first, but even with the heavier themes, the kids and their adults bring so much light, love, and humor to the narrative. It’s fascinating to see Arthur’s character pushed to his limits and what bubbles beneath his usually avuncular demeanor.

As someone who grew up in a U.S. colony, I really connected with the themes of autonomy and external interference in this book. The Hollywood-style ending, while a bit too tidy for my taste, was still a blast to read—Klune’s climactic scenes are incredibly cinematic, and Daniel Henning’s narration brought them to life in a way that made my imagination run wild.

Despite the darker undertones and the rosy ending, my love for these characters and the world Klune has built outweighs any reservations I might have. So, I’m giving this one 4.75 stars, rounded up. It’s a magical read that continues to charm and captivate.
