The magic of this world is back! And the audio preview is just as lovely as the first! I love the idea of learning more about Arthur :)

If anyone is wondering if this one is as good as the previous audio works by Kline…the answer is yes. Once again a delightful full cast of characters are given life.

I am a huge fan of TJ Klune and I absolutely adored Under The Whispering Door and The House in the Cerulean Sea. In particular, I adore the soft quiet love that TJ Klune captures between his love interests. I enjoyed this sneak peek, and immediately bought the book when it came out

As always, I enjoyed the magical realism that is perfectly woven into everyday society. The world building feels very easy to connect with.

As a Canadian who is baffled by the social tensions down south, I found the charged political situation in this book to be a bit unsettling. From the few times I have been down to the states to go shopping, I think TJ Klune does a very good job capturing the feral hate and the immediacy that is felt around the LGBTQ community.

This is just a preview of the audiobook but it gave me a taste of what to expect. It was well done and left me wanting more. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to check this one out!

I just listened to the sneak peek of Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune, and it was amazing! The audio version really brought the story to life. This book is the highly anticipated sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea, and it picks up with Arthur Parnassus and his magical family on Marsyas Island.

The sneak peek gave us a glimpse into Arthur’s struggles as he faces new challenges and threats to his family. The writing is just as enchanting and heartfelt as in the first book. I loved how the characters’ relationships continue to grow and evolve, and the magical elements are as charming as ever.

Overall, this sneak peek has me super excited for the full book. If you loved The House in the Cerulean Sea, you’re definitely going to want to check this out. The audio narration was top-notch and made the experience even more enjoyable.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and when it was over I felt content and happy with the ending so I wasnt sure what to expect with this book. What I found though was so many answers to questions I didnt even know I had and I cant wait to finish it to see what comes next for these characters

I cannot wait for the full story! The sneak peak is more like a teaser than anything because I need the rest of the story ASAP!!!

OBCESSED WITH THIS BOOK!!!! House in the Cerulean Sea is my favorite book and the sequel didn't disappoint

Choosing which books to read (or plan to read) when you are going in for major surgery is very difficult. I must have changed my mind dozens of times. And then, as if it was meant to be, I got lucky to get the second hold spot for Somewhere Beyond the Sea just one week out of my surgery. So my time reading this sequel has been me being either: super anxious pre-surgery or drugged up post surgery. I finish it today as I’m almost weaned off the ‘good’ drugs. I’m so thankful that books like this exist; even if they are not normally my type of novel. I read House on the Cerulean Sea just last month for the first time; again going outside my usual niches of dark fantasy, and looking for hope, love and inspiration for life. Thankfully I found exactly that in Klune’s work. The icing on the cake is that it’s also queer.

There isn’t much new here. Had I been in another place of my life while reading this I would likely have been bored. It is exactly what you expect; a continuation of the story adding a Yeti child (whose the best), growing Sal into an adult, teaching Lucy kindness, and furthering the other children into better residents of Earth. We get (a lot) of mushiness between Arthur and Linus (too much for me), and Zoe has a chance to shine above all. Thus it’s really not a critical sequel but nice to have all the same.

For me there is one line I read, the day before surgery, that I shared with my husband, that made an impression upon me. As a childless, bisexual woman I’ve encountered a lot of weird comments from people who don’t even know they are being harmful and this surgery is the final step in accepting who I will forever be; a woman but not a mother.
My surgery was to remove ALL baby making organs, stop me from bleeding and throwing clots, get my iron under control, stop cramping and pain/pressure; plus some fibroids and cysts were removed. A lot going on for a bunch of ‘baby parts’ I never used (and always knew were non-functional).

Alas, I needed to remind myself why we were doing all this.
I have fibromyalgia, the risk of surgery pain becoming permanent is quite high; but it had to be done. So I’m eternally grateful to Klune for this one line that I hope can live with me forever:

<i>”If you go into a situation expecting the worst, it may cloud your ability to see what good can come from it.”</i>

When a lot is on the line it’s beyond important to ensure you know the good that can come from it. For me, a new phase in my life will be starting and we’re beyond hopeful that it will result in an easier time for me, an improvement in my quality of life, and maybe even resolve issues we didn’t think it could. You never know. And even if it doesn’t we will find the good that always exists to move forward with.
All these thoughts from me, someone often said to be the most: non-sentimental, non-cryer, non-flowery, unmotherly female.

Even though this was just a sneak peek I listened to the full audiobook. It was amazing! I loved reuniting with the whole cast of characters and it definitely expanded the original story. I do feel like it set it up for a third book but I guess we will see.

It feels like I read The House in the Cerulean Sea ages ago, but the heartwarming story of found family is timeless. I look forward to returning to Marsyas Island with Linus, Arthur, and their household of magical youths. This sneak peek was brief, and a perfect primer to dive back into the series for its next installment. TJ Klune captured the wonder, delight, innocence, humour, and heartwarming feelings you most likely would have gotten when reading the first book. The audiobook was delightfully narrated, with each character having their own voice - I must admit, it first startled me as I had not imagined certain voices to be in such a certain manner (ie: Chauncey's) but you grow to love and get used to it, as well as find that it just adds a little extra element to each character.

I love TJ Klune and I simply cannot wait to get to dive deeper into this book. Love his characters and imagination, always.

At this point I have listened to the full book and I have to say that it was amazing! There were so many times I cried happy tears. It was so uplifting. This book feels like a love letter to queer joy.

The only thing the sneak peek of Somewhere Beyond the Sea accomplished was that it made me so ready to listen to the entire book. It was so great, if even for a few minutes, to be back with the orphans and Arthur again. There’s something so charming and magical about this series, but I can’t wait to listen to the entire thing. Now I just have to wait for my library hold to become available.

I didn’t realize this was only a portion of the audiobook. It was great and I look forward to reading the whole book.
