I an so very excited for the release of the Cerulean Sea sequel. I have always been a huge fan of TJ Klune, but thus book sincerely wrapped around my heart.
This sneak peek was perfect. It brought back my favorite characters and the problems they are facing from the first book, which was a nice refresher.

Also my absolute favorite narrator, Daniel Henning is back reading the sequel, bringing his magic to the characters and the story. He never fails to bring a smile to my face.

I can't wait for the release of thus book!

The following is a review of the audiobook sneak peak, with a full review to follow once the novel is released.

TJ Klune’s writing is incandescent in this sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea—filled with the quirky characters we love, a distinct writing voice, and a universal theme befitting a talented queer author. Pair that with the voice acting of Daniel Henning, who captures the humor and distinctiveness of each character, and you have a recipe for a fulfilling follow-up to this book’s beloved predecessor. I’m eager to see more of Arthur and Linus dealing with the humor of raising these unruly kids and can’t overstate how important it is, representation wise, to have two queer dads raising kids to love and accept themselves. I’m tentatively rating this 4 stars simply because it feels wrong to rate it higher without reading the full work, but could see this being a 4.5-5 star read if the rest of the novel persists at the same level. I’ll adjust my rating accordingly after reading the full work. Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Books for providing me with a free audiobook sneak peak in exchange for an honest review.

Having read the previous book and loving it, I was disappointed to only be able to get my hands on the Sneak Peek of this newest one. So. my physical book will already have been read by the time I hand it off to my husband or daughter. I can accept that. It’s hard to review something like this because it is completely out of context. We get to see how Arthur took his childhood and made it into a positive adulthood. But that’s it. There are the quirky inhabitants and we get to meet or be reaquainted with only a few. It makes the quirkiness less likable when you don’t actually know the character. I know I will love it when I get to read it.

My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is another great one by TJ Klune! This kicks off with the main characters preparing for a hearing and what will ultimately be the government’s attempt to drag Arthur Parnassis’ name and the home he’s created through the mud in an attempt to erase queer and/or magical beings.

Very excited for the sequel to this series! The opening sequences in this audiobook did a fantastic job of not only re-introducing the characters to us but also beautifully illustrated some of the core problems from the first book that will be very crucial to the whole plot line in a very short timeframe. The narrator is also absolutely fantastic at depicting the different characters with very distinguishable voices that had me drawn in to every line. Incredible job so far.

They're all back, and I couldn't be more excited. Having recently read The House on the Cerulean Sea, I was ecstatic to learn that this sequel was only weeks from being published. The narration by
Daniel Henning makes the story come to life in a way that just keeps a smile on my face. I can't wait to read the rest! Thank you NetGalley, for the chance to listen and review this Sneak Peek.

Well this was great! I had four chapters to be immersed back into the Cerulean Sea world with all of our favorite characters and get really excited for the story. Only to remember that this was an excerpt and I still have to wait two more weeks for the book to be released.

Daniel Henning does a fantastic job narrating these fantastic characters and I can't wait to hear the rest of the book.

I am very much looking forward to the release of Somewhere Beyond the Sea. I can't wait to join these characters as they embark on another adventure.

I thought this would be the full audiobook. If it was just a sneak peek, I wouldn’t have requested this.

I have so enjoyed the part of the book I got to hear on audio! My favorite was hearing the voices of the characters I loved and hearing about the next part of their journey.

I have been waiting anxiously for this book to be released. I love the characters and the way TJ Klune writes. I am so excited to see how Linus and Arthur grow in their relationship, Zoe and Helen, and the relationships with each child and David being introduced. This is so wonderfully written it's like you're there experiencing it all with the characters by your side. Such a feel good read.

This is just an excerpt from the novel coming out on September 10th. Imagine you're taking a trip to your favorite place. Your friends got there before you and have sent you a postcard. Your anticipation increases. That's what this sneak peak is. Perfection.

Such a fun return to all the beloved characters of "The House in the Cerulean Sea." This sequel is going to tell us a bit about Arthur's past and let us get to know the characters even better. If you loved the first book, this one is for you! This preview was only four chapters long but was a good tease to remind me how much I loved the quirky characters and want to read about them again.

Listening to this was the perfect preparation for this upcoming release. I was instantly back in Klune's delightful world and loving every second. I can already tell that if you loved the first book, you will love this one. Cannot wait!

Excited to read the rest of this sequel - the sneak peak just wasn’t enough!!! I am not a fan of this narrator, but that is because of my experience with another of Klune’s audiobooks (In the Lives of Puppets).

Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune

Publisher: Macmillan Audio
Release Date: July 2, 2024

Audiobook
Narrator: Daniel Henning
Listening Time: 1 hour (sample)

Fiction, Sci Fi, Fantasy, Magical, Orphans, LGBTQIAP+

This is the second book in the Cerulean Chronicles. It begins in the past and gives a quick look into how the orphanage came into being what it is today. The story then jumps to the present time with all the characters from the previous book. This was just a sneak peek and now I cannot wait to read (but especially listen) to the rest of the book. The narrator does an amazing job bring personality to all the different characters.

I love the writing style of this author. It is light and funny at times but also shows the darkness that lies within some people. The characters are well developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. If you like Miss Peregrine’s House of Peculiar Children, you will enjoy reading this.
