Crossroads 2070 invites readers to explore humanity’s destiny through three distinct lenses. With a cast of characters navigating divergent paths, the novel presents a speculative yet eerily plausible vision of our future.

Pros:
Rich World-Building: Whitford masterfully constructs three distinct timelines, each with its own set of challenges and consequences. Whether it’s the AI-driven apocalypse or the aftermath of climate change, the world feels vivid and hauntingly real.
Character Depth: The ensemble cast provides diverse perspectives, from scientists to survivors. Their struggles and triumphs resonate, making the reader emotionally invested.
Narrative Structure: The alternating viewpoints keep the pace engaging, revealing the interconnectedness of choices across centuries.

Cons:
Predictability: While the premise is intriguing, some plot twists feel telegraphed. Readers familiar with dystopian fiction may find themselves anticipating certain outcomes.
Lack of Hope: Despite the well-crafted scenarios, a pervasive sense of despair permeates the book. It’s a necessary theme, but it can weigh down the overall experience.

In summary, Crossroads 2070 is a cautionary tale that challenges us to consider the consequences of our present actions. It’s a worthwhile read, even if it leaves you pondering the fragility of our existence.

Audiobook review: DNF at 43%
I found it quite difficult to tell the timelines apart and was never 100% sure which one I was listening to. The female narrators sounded too similar for me to make the distinction based on that alone.

Although I really like the idea of the book I just wasn’t able to get into the story fully.

Exactly the type of read I normally go for. I generally read any kind of dystopia and apocalyptic fiction so this was right up my street. It’s super thought provoking, like I mean REALLY! You don’t have to think to far ahead to imagine that these scenarios are utterly plausible given the current climate in the UK and worldwide! A great listen, audio and narrator I’m guessing do the book justice as both were great. Always on the look out for this type of book and audio, great job, hope the author writes more and similarly themed books
